author's thoughts. hehehehehe arle <3 i was supposed to write a fic featuring kafka (hsr) today in celebration of her coming home. Erm. yeah. That did not happen! clearly. /lh

       It happened all too quickly.

       It truly was a peaceful night, just like any other. The fire crackled on soothingly in the background, shadows dancing on the walls, and the warmth staving off the frigid cold that was all but characteristic of Snezhnaya's nights. Peering out the window would reveal the light, steady snowfall; typically, more blizzard-like conditions would be present, but perhaps the Tsaritsa was in quite a good mood that night in particular, for the snow was gentle in its falling and the winds did not rage on cruelly, biting and nipping angrily at any unfortunate person caught out in the middle of the storm.

       Their mother hummed a soft lullaby to them as her calloused fingers, all thanks to years of sewing and hunting combined, rubbed up and down their back. Their father had been in the kitchen—cooking was a responsibility shared between their parents (and really, how could he have asked his wife to move when their beloved, sweet child was half-asleep on her lap? That was a /far/ too wicked request. No, he would not dare disturb theirs and their mother's peace).

       ...And in a split second, it had all come crumbling down.

       Someone's weight was thrown against the door, causing a loud slam! to resonate within the walls.

       Once, and their mother sprung up, jerking them awake with her motions. In their half-asleep state, they hardly understood what was going on as their father rushed defensively out of the kitchen with an axe.

       Twice, and their mother gathered them in her arms before darting towards the back of the house—the absolute farthest end—at her husband's command. She rushed into one of the bedrooms, swiftly ripping the closet door open and pushing them in, insisting quietly that they hid among the pile of thick winter coats where they would not be seen.

       "You just have to hide for a little, okay?" she murmured softly, deft hands pulling coats over their little body and face. "And remember—stay quiet, okay? Shh."

       At the end of her sentence, she made a shushing motion with a shaky, trembling smile.

       Perhaps it was her attempt at soothing them, but children are often not so easily fooled. The gesture did naught to calm their pounding heart. She had done her best to look certain and reassuring, but all it did was make them all the more terrified.

       Their mother stood up, closing the closet door only slightly; it may look suspicious if it had been closed completely, she thought.

       Then, she was gone, and they were left only with the company of their thoughts.

       It was mostly quiet for a few minutes. They could vaguely make out the muffled sounds of talking—fighting, more accurately. It sounded angry. As if these invasive strangers were demanding something.

       They choked back a sob as the walls shook around them due to the noise. A scream, then a gunshot, then another, and then silence.

       Through the silence, they could discern the sound of wet slicing. Their heart dropped further into the endless pit of their stomach as they tried their best to curl further into themselves and the pile of coats.

       Click, click, click...

       Heels, gradually getting louder as their wearer approached. Someone was coming. Someone was going to find them.

       It all happened far too quickly.

       ...And now, before them, none other than the Fourth of the Fatui Harbingers was kneeled. It was not hard for her to find them, not with all their shuffling and shaking and heavy, anxious breathing.

       Interestingly, she was far less threatening than what they thought she might be. They didn't doubt that she had the capacity to be absolutely horrifying, but with them...

       "You can come out now," she encouraged. Her tone could hardly be described as forceful; if anything, she was... suprisingly gentle. Patient, even, as she held out her hand invitingly. It was as if she were coaxing a frightened animal out from its hiding place. "There is no longer anything to be afraid of."

       Still, they hesitated. "Where—" Their throat was dry with terror and their little voice trembled as it came out. With shaking hands, they moved some of the coats off of them. The Knave did note, however, that they clung to one particlar coat; it must have belonged to one of their parents, if she had to guess. Children clung onto sentimental items like that. They swallowed and tried again: "Where are my parents?"

       "They are no longer with us. I am sincerely sorry. Had I arrived sooner, they might have lived."

       A tremble shook their whole body—whether it was from the cold seeping into their house through the open front door (though the room they were in was a few twists and turns in a hallway away, the Snezhnayan cold was a unique beast in that it could turn a house frigid in a matter of seconds) or from grief, they could not be sure.

       "Where..." They sniffled, hands balled into small fists as they tried to rub away the tears gathering in their eyes. "What do I do? I don't wanna be alone..."

       "You won't be," Arlecchino said. "You will come with me. You will never be alone again."

       All they could do was stumble out of the closet, coat held firmly in their hands and nod. Where else were they supposed to go? Furthermore, how were they meant to say no to a Fatui Harbinger? She was kind enough to offer to take them somewher, and truly, anywhere would have been better than the cold and lonely house in which their parents were killed.

       Though, it was greatly debatable whether the Fourth was being kind or opportunistic.

       At their young age, they couldn't wrap their mind around any ulterior motives she may have had. They could not so much as consider such a thing, not when she so kindly and tenderly took the coat from their hands, wrapped it around their shivering body, and hoisted them up into her arms. She radiated a warmth that they could not help but lean into, head coming to rest on her squared and confident shoulder. It was not so unbearbly cold when they were in her arms.

       One might regard her mannerisms... parental, as if she had great experience with young children and their needs. It surely seemed so, considering how effortlessly and fluidly she handled them. It was like she had done it a million times before.

       Indeed, it would not be surprising if that were the case.

       Arlecchino hummed, adjusting their weight in her arms slightly.

       Then, her nails softly raked over their head and through their hair. Her smooth, self-assured voice reached their ears with a command they could not deny or resist:

       "Rest for now, little one."

Summary: Honami with an S/O that suffers from PTSD due to seeing their mother die

⋆ When you were a kid your dad was extremely abusive towards you and your mother

⋆ you didn't like how he treated her at all , he would always hit your mom if she did one simple mistake and he would do the same thing to you if you did a mistake yourself

⋆ One day you were helping you were helping your mother in the kitchen to help her make you a cake since it was your birthday , one of the only days in the year you truly feel happy but your father had other plans for that day

⋆ After you and your mother finished celebrating your birthday in which you turned 5 years your father entered through the door and saw that none of you waited for him

⋆ When your mother saw the look in his face she told you to run quick and hide , she would distract him

⋆ luckily for you , your father didn't see where you were hidden , but before you noticed it he walked in to the kitchen dragging your mother by the arm

⋆ He had a strong grip on her you could tell , she was trying to get out but nothing worked

⋆ With that he took a knife from the drawers and stabbed her multiple times

⋆ After your mom stopped moving your dad left the house thinking you ran away and when he close the door you went out the closest

⋆ You were shaking and crying so much

⋆ You didn't know what to do , you were so scared what if he were to find you again what if he kill's you too

⋆ That same night the neighbors called the police for a noise complaints 🙄 which lead to the police finding you laying crying close to your mother's dead body

⋆ After that you stayed with your aunt and fortunately your father was putted in prison

⋆ But things weren't the same after that you were different

⋆ When you turned six your aunt said there was a few children that always played in the park close to the house so if anything went wrong you could come back

⋆ and you actually went , and this was were U met your childhood best friends Saki , Ichika , Shiho and Honami

⋆ Ever since that day you felt happier than you have ever been you felt happy to spend time with them

⋆ That was until Saki was sent to the hospital in middle school and had to stay during Junior high as well

⋆ All of you got separated well except you and Honami your mental health still got worse tho since some kids found out about what your dad did and because of that they thought you were gonna become just like your dad

⋆ Middle School was hell being constantly reminded about what happened that day over and over again just because some stupid classmate found out about it

⋆ You were on the verge of tears on your way to class until you heard a soft voice behind you catching your attention

S/O are you ok ? your breathing very fast is something wrong?

Oh Honami .... It's fine don't worry we should be heading to class anyway

⋆ It was your childhood friend and now girlfriend Honami

⋆ She confessed to you not to long ago actually she even gave you homemade apple pie she made herself to you

⋆ She knew about your past and how you had PTSD because of this she always made sure to comfort you

⋆She was always by your side when you had trouble sleeping , her hugs were always so soft not even your nightmares were able to fight against that

⋆ Apple pies became your comfort food , especially when your birthday came around instead of cake she would make you an apple pie since it helped you get your mind of it

⋆ She always did everything she could to make sure you didn't think about it

⋆ When Saki finally got back from the Hospital during High School They all fixed their friendship bods specially you , you were all so happy that you were all back together

⋆ A few days later they started noticing your behaviour change to what it seemed to be scared ? , but they didn't pay much mind to it since you've always been like this specially on your birthday .... How odd

⋆ After School Honami got asked by Saki

Why does (name) always seems so scared during the day's close to their birthday?

Oh about that...

I think it's better if you asked them yourselves since it's a very sensitive topic and I don't know if they are ready to talk about it

⋆ Now if they ask and you decide to tell them yourself , Honami will be beside you rubbing your back to comfort you , if you stop mid sentence she'll ask if you want her to finish it for you and she will tell that you were very brave for telling it to them

⋆ Now if you tell Honami to tell them she'll be very careful while telling them and also give them advice so they don't overwhelm you

⋆ Over all Honami would take very good care of you , she is an amazing girlfriend to have and she loves you no matter what all she would like in return was your affection and maybe a few apple pie pieces from her favourite bakery

⋆ It was cold saturday night and Mizuki decided to invite you over , just so the two of you could cuddle and binge watch some anime together

⋆ And besides 25ji had decided to take the night off today so Mizuki would love to hug you under the blankets

It had been about 30mins since Mizuki sended you a message on Nightcord asking you if you wanted to spend the night over at their house

Which of course you agreed to , you told them that you would just get ready by packing some stuff take a quick shower and you would go to their house

While Mizuki cleaned their room even tho it wasn't that dirty , they still wanted it to look nice for you , they also prepared some snacks and drinks for the both of you

After they were done setting everything up they sitted down and waited you arrive , in the meantime they picked what animes you guys should watch 😋

After waiting for about 10mins you arrived , and Mizuki went to the door as fast as they could to let you in

HI MIZUKI HOW IS MY CUTE LOVER DOING THIS EVENING ?

You hugged them tight while you said that and since you were slightly taller than them you accidentally lifted them up , but Mizuki happily replied

I'm doing amazing , also I settled everything up already if you wanna sit and relax a bit

As long as I get to cuddle my lovely partner yes I'd love to ~

Mizuki blushed a little at your compliment but tried hiding it

Well of course now shall we go upstairs ~

You gave Mizuki a kiss on their cheek an replied

And once again you made Mizuki blush and once again they tried hiding it

Once you reached the room all the two of you did was get onto bed and cuddle

You sat yourself behind Mizuki and hugged them from behind and from that hour on all you did was hug Mizuki

Mizuki knew you lived physical affection and they were a bit touch starved anyway so they loved your company

⋆ So Tsukasa invited you to go on a date with him this afternoon because there was a café he never got the chance to show you so this was the perfect opportunity

The two of you agreed to meet up at 3 o'clock in front of his house , and from there you would go to the café together

Once you arrived at his house he was already outside waiting for you , which made you think you kept him waiting to long

Oh no it's alright my lovely co-star you didn't keep me waiting at all !

He said while hugging you tightly and giving you a kiss

He was very excited to hang out with you since he doesn't get much time to hang out with you because of practice, but he finally got some free time now poor Nene tho

On your way to the café the two of you held hands and were very close to eachother , since Tsukasa knew you liked physical affection

And besides Tsukasa was a fan of physical affection himself so ofcourse he would enjoy holding hands with you

The two of you were so close to eachother that anyone that passed by the two of you , could clearly tell that the two of you were a couple

The trip to the café wasn't a long one since the café was not that far from Tsukasas house , so that's why he asked you to meet up at his house

The two of you got your ordered some pastries and some drink , but that was when Tsukasa felt something on his shoulder

Oh? Did you fall asleep?

No silly I just wanted to lean on your shoulder if that's alright

Well then ofcourse

The customers couldn't tell the difference between a tomato and Tsukasa once you started clinging onto his arm , I don't think he was trying to hide it at this point since he knew there was no point

Once your food and drinks arrived the two of you are while talking about stuff until the plate was empty and of course the two of you let eachother taste eachothers food

And once again Tsukasa got a bit red when he was gonna give you a piece of his food , I mean how could he not you looked so adorable

Once it was time to pay Tsukasa was getting his money out but it turns out you payed so Tsukasa got confused which lead to him asking you on the way back to his house

Why did you pay for the café even though you knew I was gonna pay?

There was a moment of silence and within that moment the two of you reached his house and a you already had agreed to spend the night at his house so you went in and took his hand on your and said

Because I wanted to thank you for staying with me I love you very much Tsukasa

After that the two you changed your clothes and cuddle to sleep since the two were very tired
