Police and my thoughts
Someone questioned me today about my opinion on cops. And now I feel like I need to clarify things. I am not against police officers, a national police force, or the idea of people policing their streets. I come from a family that is split, half of them crooks, half of them cops, MP's, some form of military, etc. I have an interesting opinion on the matter, based on a unique, in my eyes, background.
In my opinion, any nation with no police force is a nation that doesn't hold human life in high regard. A police force is necessary to maintain order, in any type of civilization or society.
Second point.... Police officers are not inherently evil. I was once arrested at my home business, after being attacked by train hopping hooligans and having 22,000$ worth f damage done to to my business and equipment, plus loss of income... I didn't even dislike police on that day, it was fourth of July, and I was arrested, I, the sole name on the lease, the victim of a violent crime, a local business owner, yadda yadda yadda.... Was arrested and detained for a measly six hours, released in another city without means to get home, even after all that...... I understand the need and the protocol well enough to realize I wasn't treated badly, my case was processed quickly, and I don't have complaints about their conduct on that occasion. I still believe police are necessary. But I see a vast difference between police and cops.
Cops are evil, crooked, violent, malicious, criminals with badges, and they, in my opinion, are in control of the majority of police stations. Either through fear, or habit, or simply by bad cops outnumbering the good police officers, the majority of stations are scary with corruption stories, you know the kind. Sherriffs on child porn charges. Deputies raping inmates, police brutality, murders, some caught on film, and for decades, nothing but a slap on the wrist.....
But accountability is growing. Things are cleaning up somewhat. We'll see what happens. I'm not out to target bad cops, or any cops l, despite the fact that I share articles about bad cops getting caught (which I do as a sort of obligatory homage to entropy). I do appreciate good police activity, and I wish their lives were easier. But I recognize that some wearing the badge are bad news, and I fear all of them because of it.
Times are changing. I've met a lot of good police. I've met scary murder face cops. Both working at the same place.....
If I have a bag of Skittles and some of them are poisonous, but you don't know which is which, would you wanna eat some?
