Internship 250 Word reflection

This internship was very helpful when it came to improving my research skills. Doing research on people and receiving a reply was very beneficial when it came to understanding how I could improve my production towards gaining a job in the art industry.

For my only reply, when I asked Adrien about what his first steps were to get into the industry, and how he managed to build a large audience on social media. He told me that his intentions were never to be noticed by anyone or to get a certain amount of likes and shares, Instead, he said that your goal should always be to create great art which some people may notice. This advice was very helpful as it helped me understand that I should not focus too much on being recognised as it would become a problem of ego. It showed me how trying to produce mainly for others will easily give you art blocks and that it is better to focus on your own development.

Documenting my research on a worksheet will be useful for me in the future as it will be a reminder of information tips that will help me towards building my own future. For improvement in this project, I should have made phone calls and emailed companies as it would widen my chances in getting another reply with useful information. To be honest, I didn't enjoy contacting people as I had low expectations of getting responses but I realised that doing this will be very useful for my own benefit.

Mix Media Project 250 words

All of us were able to complete our assignments on time and created an impressive introduction. This project has been enjoyable to work on as the monster theme expanded our creativity in character design. Learning how to use Photoshop has helped me a lot with my animation, particularly when I mix animation into a video.

My project (monsters out of space) was very well presented. I feel like the outcome of our animation turned out really well, especially with the comedy we tried to get across to the viewers. Using unexpected sound effects helped emphasise the comedy approach I wanted in my animation. Working in a team was a fun and new experience since we had not experienced it before. In the well-presented animation, it is evident that we all communicated well with one another. The team's character description is unique in their own right, so I think they all work well together as a team.

Despite a few small mistakes, our team collaborated really well and created a funny animation. My animation could use some improvement, especially the fish at the end. The character could be more detailed. I also feel like I could improve on the character's movement when the worm moves on the fish tank. In the end, I am really happy with the results of this project.

Character Project 250 Word Reflection

This character project was very useful, especially in helping certain aspects of my skills when it comes to animating. For example, the colour project helped me to carefully analyse how I would use colour to demonstrate a film. The colour project also helped me with my communication skills as we had to stay connected with our group when producing the film. Unfortunately, for the colour projects, we faced a few problems towards having to finish our project since a member decided to not keep intact with their task given.

The dot project showed me how I could create a personality by using speed and form. Being restricted from certain things, my dot project was easily understood by peers as well as the element project. The element project expanded my creativity as it allowed me to select any character design I wanted and theme. This character project was useful for exercising my imagination as I had to problem solve how I would demonstrate my animations. My design skills were strong as well as my sound. For improvement, I would have coloured my objects a bit more and made more usage of colour in my dot project. I could focus more on exaggerating movements as well as adding more keyframes. In the end, I managed to complete all my tasks. I was able to show a clear understanding of the projects I had to handle. This was a good experience that helped me to think a lot towards how I should present my animation (using different aspects like colour, design and movement to help present a story).

Advanced Animation Skills

Advanced Animation Skills - 250 Word Reflection This project has helped me a lot in improving my creativity and anatomy towards animating. The Push, Pull and hold project, helped me in focusing on where the body uses strength and how it can be demonstrated in animation. During the animal walk project, I had to research how a jaguar walks for the production of my short animal film. Making research helped me understand how different the animals move compared to humans. As well as the obstacle course, helped me use my imagination to create an interesting animation which would link to the personality of my character.

I am really happy with the outcomes of my films. this project helped me demonstrate my ability in animating and also improve.  I feel like my design skills were visually pleasing and nicely demonstrated. My time management was handled well as I made sure to hand in my projects on time. For improvement, I got a lot of feedback from Steve and my classmates. I need to keep an eye on where I have my placement of feet. I also need to be patient in different scenes in my animation as it can help in exaggerating the movement. This project was very interesting as it was more independent. As it was independent it meant that the work I needed to produce relied a lot on my skills. This was good for me as it helped me challenge my creativity and benefited me in improving my primary research skills.

Pre- Production

Most of my work I had on iCloud was deleted which was why I had a different idea for my storyline as I had to start all over again. Theres not a lot of preproduction but I have done enough to show my journey in producing my animation

2 Minute Film - 250 word reflection.

This is my final 2-minute film. I am very satisfied with the work I have produced. In the start, I faced several difficulties in figuring out the storyline for my film but after a few ideas, I managed to stick with one that worked best. For my film, I decided to go for a more anime-like style. Because of this style, was one of the biggest struggles I had to face for the film as it was very time consuming from the details my characters/background designs obtained. My research skills were very good when finding references for my background designs as well as using youtube videos for anatomy references (because my film mostly focused on fighting).

I feel like I managed to display a nice visual animation through the use of different perspectives and transitions. My character design is strong as the viewers had a clear understanding of what was happening in the film. Time management could have been improved but was very limited because of changes in story ideas.  The use of sound helped exaggerate the emotion in my film as well as make it feel realistic.

For improvement, I would focus on keeping my character design constant as I feel like sometimes my character would not look like the same character throughout the film.  I could use more sound effects to help the atmosphere of the film even better. Overall, I feel like I did a good job in animating my film and this process has taught me how I should time manage my projects in the future.

250 Word Reflection

Grad Assist Reflection-

The grad assist project was quite fun, I enjoyed the experience and I think that I picked up some things from it. I learned how to draw half human half animal characters, which I had never tried before. Although it was quite hard and took some time I think that I did quite well with the characters. My supervisor/ year 3 showed me some example ideas as to what he wanted the characters to look like. Then I showed him how I can draw them with more realistic anatomy and detail wise, with which he agreed. There were some time management problems between us, every time id send progress or complete a character he would take about a week or so to reply. That made me move on to doing my own work since the free time I had was gonna be wasted waiting, and by the time he replied, I would be busy with something else. This happened a few times which resulted in me not being able to complete a lot of work for him.

For the grad assist, I think I will use the work I have produced towards my portfolio to show how I can interpret an idea into a design. Because I like character designing, I feel like the grad assist work will support a lot when it comes to showing my skills in that area. Overall, this was a fun project as I got to have some experience in producing work for somebody else.
