Chapter Eleven: Extra
Toji pads into the kitchen late at night, following the sound and smells that escape it. If he had to guess you were making something with caramel, or maybe toffee because of the warm sugary scent wafting in the air. Christmas music plays softly through a speaker, and when he walks into the kitchen he sees you swaying side to side in his black t-shirt and your bonnet.
“ Last christmas, I gave you my heart.
But the very next day, you gave it away ,” you sing. You pause turning the saucepan to keep the surface from burning to use the spoon as a microphone. You give Toji a stellar performance of the song, and Toji couldn’t keep his eyes away from his shirt riding up your legs and exposing the bottom of your ass. With a twirl you jump back when you see Toji watching you. A shy smile creeps on your lips, but still you sing.
“ A face on a lover with a fire in his heart.
A man undercover but you tore me apart, ” you chime, beckoning Toji closer and he shakes his head. You pout in the middle of your song, so he pushes himself off the wall and walks towards you.
“ Ooh-hoo
Now I found a real love, you’ll never fool me again. ”
Toji turns off the stove behind you and spins you around, your smile growing wider as the song continues to play.
“Even with Christmas songs, you like the sad ones,” he teases and you laugh softly.
“It must be three AM now,” Toji says on top of your head as you rest your cheek on his chest. “Something wrong?”
“No, I’m fine,” you hum. “Just wanted to make some cookies. A recipe came to me in a dream. Did I wake you?”
Toji’s hand runs up and down your waist and he could feel you melt into his touch.
“No, but I could feel that you weren’t there anymore.”
“I’m sorry, honey.” You push off on your top toes to give him a kiss on the underside of his jaw and Toji still couldn’t believe the way you made his heart race.
It’s been a year since you two have been married. A year of total bliss for Toji. It already felt like Toji has known you for years, and you just fit into all parts of his life easily. Shortly after the proposal he had you move in with him, and that’s when you realized that a lot of your belongings were already at his place. Megumi took the change well, only slightly sad that he didn’t get to go to your house anymore as he liked it very much. You promised to decorate Toji’s home just as you did yours and that appeased him.
The wedding happened shortly after that, only two before Valentine’s day. It was a simple wedding, only the closest family members and friends of yours were invited with Rika as your maid of honor, and everybody that Toji worked with. Nobara and Yuuji threw flowers for you down the aisle, and Ezra walked you down the aisle. A small bouquet of calla lilies was in your hand, delicate and gorgeous like the gown you had on. It was your mother’s, a lacey piece encrusted in pearls along the seams. When Toji saw you down the aisle he couldn’t hear any more music. All there was was you. The bright and beautiful smile on your face. The white pearls that decorated your hair like stars in the midnight sky. The way your eyes shone adoringly at him.
Every time Toji blinked his vision was blurry and until he blinked again to swim through the tears. You never stopped smiling, and Toji found himself sporting a grin himself once he got to hold your hand. With Choso as the officiant he guided the ceremony, and Megumi was the ring bearer who carefully brought the bands down to you. Ezra had tears in his eyes the entire ceremony, as well as Gojo who he was sitting next to.
“I just love love,” Gojo said to him, and Ezra furiously nodded in agreement. From the enraptured stare that Toji had once he slipped the gold band on your finger  Ezra knew that his little sister was in safe hands.
Toji barely let Choso finish saying, “You may kiss the bride,” before cupping your face and giving you a breathless kiss. The crowd erupted into applause, and you were swept off of your feet and Toji carried down the aisle. You swung your feet happily, giggling all the way out of the building.
The reception was lively with good music and food for everybody. Rika had planned the whole thing and both you and Toji were impressed by how put together the decorations were. You went and changed out of your gown and put on a sparkly white minidress to dance around in, and you danced with everyone, even pulling Toji along to sway around the beat with you.
When it came to a slow song Toji held you close to his chest just as he did right now, and his strong heartbeat made you smile.
“I’ve always loved the holidays, but now they’re better than ever with you. We met right before Halloween, right?”
“October 10th,” he says, his voice rumbling in his chest. You peer up at him in awe.
“You remember the exact day?”
Like he could ever forget. “You looked so fucking cute the first time I met you. I wanted to hang around a little longer so I made you ring up everything.”
“I’ve always meant to ask you about that,” you laugh. “You really like me, huh?”
Toji takes your left hand, kissing the back of it then the inside of your wrist. Your face flushes at his lips on your skin. Your wedding bands gleam in the low light, and you cup Toji’s face with your hand.
“I love you,” he murmurs. His kisses get more open mouthed and travel down your arm. Your back touches the counter, and he easily lifts you up to sit on the flat surface, then settles himself between your legs. He takes your lips, chasing after the caramel sauce he tastes to get to you. You groan into him, wrapping your legs around his waist.
“Say it again.”
“I love you,” he whispers in your neck. You never got tired of hearing it. He will never get tired of saying it.
*
His tongue dances on your skin, licking the hollow of your neck and you lean forward, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. His hands travel up your thighs to brush against your sex. The muffled sigh you let out because your face is in his shirt only makes him harder.
“Toji,” you say in a hushed whisper. “Toji, Megumi might wake up.”
You say that but your hips rock back and forth, wanting Toji to move his hands faster in your cunt. You drip on his fingers, and he stretches you out slowly with one finger then two, his thumb putting a steady pressure on your clit. Soft moans tumble out of your mouth that Toji silences with a searing kiss. His fucks you faster on his fingers, relishing the way you claw at his shirt to pull him closer.
“Try to keep quiet, yeah?” He nips your bottom lip, licking his lips when a string of saliva breaks from him pulling away. He lifts up the bottom of your shirt to stuff in your mouth. Your eyes widen but you hold on to it tightly, and Toji’s eyes light up at the sight of your breasts. He twists your nipple in one hand while he swirls his tongue around the other. Trying to focus on breathing you screw your eyes shut and take deep breaths through your nose.
Toji always wants your eyes on him during sex. It doesn't matter what his hands or his dick are doing, he needs to see you watching him. Now is not any different. He pulls the hardening bud and you hiss, your eyes springing open to look down at him.
“Keep those eyes on me,” he grins, sinking down on the floor to his knees and slipping your panties off completely. He groans at the sight of your wet folds. Toji doesn’t waste any time, diving nose deep and lapping you up. With your legs resting on his shoulders he spreads you wider, leaving no part of you unexposed. Your teeth clenches on the fabric in your mouth. You do as he asks, watching him as he makes obscene noises between your legs, looking up at you ever so often. When he did, your whole body would run hot. The eye contact is intense, like he’s daring you to look away. The suction on your clit along with his fingers deep inside coaxes an orgasm out of you. With no way for you to make noise all of the energy is bundled up inside of you, threatening to break free. Toji’s tongue is relentless and you dig your heels in his back, tears streaming down your face as you try to stay as quiet as possible. Your release is hard and fast, your teeth tearing through the cloth. Haggard breaths are the only thing that could be heard in the kitchen and you shake silently on top of the table.
Toji allows you to break your gaze from him while you come. You did well considering the circumstances. Toji bites the inside of your thigh just because, smiling when you let out a tired groan. He slowly drags his tongue back up your body, kissing and licking the skin on his way up. He then licks his fingers clean from your come then gently places your legs down since you were nearly folded in half on the countertop. The bottom of the shirt is still in your mouth and he tugs it free to kiss you. You can taste yourself on his lips and heat flushes your face. His hand is back at your sex, rubbing lazy circles on your clit and your eyes roll back into your head.
“Can you give me one more, sweetheart? Just one?”
“It’s never just one with you,” you manage to get out. With a deep chuckle Toji slides you off of the counter, flipping you over and your hands splayed on the cool stone. His arm bracket around you, his other arm holding you up by the waist because your legs were still weak. Once you could stand flat on your feet his hand went under the shirt to tweak your nipple again.
“I think you can do it,” he murmurs.
You buck your hips back to him. “Yes,” you breathe out. You feel his hard length pressing your ass and holding your bottom lip in between your teeth. You could stay quiet again. It would be hard, but not impossible. “ Now , Toji,” you urge.
Toji palms your ass when he lifts up the back of his t-shirt. He wants to smack it so badly but thinks better against it. Instead he pulls himself out of his sweatpants, stroking himself for a short moment before rubbing himself between your ass. Even at times like this he found ways to tease you, to make you beg for him.
“Toji,” you whine, wiggling your hips. It’s music to his ears hearing his name like that. He couldn’t hold himself back for too long looking at you. The shadows and curves in your back made him ache for release. He rubs his cock along your pussy, the head smearing your arousal to your clit and approaching the entrance but never entering. The heat from you is inviting, but the mewls you make him continue his tactics until you begin to sob. The anticipation is starting to get unbearable. You look over your shoulder to Toji with tears brimming your eyes. “Please,” you beg.
It makes something snap in Toji. How can he keep holding back when you ask so sweetly? He buries himself inside of you, sending an electric shock down your body. Your head drops down, your knuckles whiten at gripping the edge of the table so hard. Your hands keep slipping, spreading wider until your cheek is laying on top of the stone, and the volume of your voice gets louder with every thrust. Toji has a tight hold on your hips, fucking you languidly at first, then picking up speed the longer he stays inside. Your walls grip him like you never want him to leave. You throw your arm back to graze Toji’s abdomen, trying to anchor yourself somewhere.
Toji takes your arm and lifts your chest off of the table. He pulls you far back enough to smash his lips on your in something that approximates a kiss, only too messy. It serves another purpose, to keep your moans down but it doesn’t last for long when you are combining your groans together. You hold the back of his neck and his hand holds the front of your throat. Toji is pressed so close to your skin he can only deliver short strokes that still hit deep, and you try to fuck him back. You feel his hand travel down your body to brush your clit again and you sob in his mouth. With only a few more strokes and brushes against your bud you shatter again, breaking the kiss to gasp. Toji comes right after you, filling you to the brim and your feet are barely on the floor anymore.
Your chest lays back on the table and you welcome the cold surface on your face. Toji holds himself over you, catching his breath while watching your body move up and down as you do the same thing. He carefully pulls out of you, and you let out a tired groan. If it was up to him he would’ve carried you back to the bedroom with his cock still deep inside, but he knew he had to clean you up. He watches as his come slowly drips out of your sex, his libido building again. He stuffs it back in with his fingers and your legs twitch.
“I’m never going to finish those cookies tonight,” you mumble.
“No, not tonight,” he says with a kiss to your cheek. “We need to go to bed.”
Your head pops up from the counter, a sly smile growing on your lips. “Are we actually going to sleep?”
Toji gave you a wicked grin. “Eventually.”

Love Bites pt. 10
No luck needed.
Baker Fem Reader x Toji Fushiguro
word ct: 15.1k, 11 Chapters
Preview: Toji ruffles Megumi's hair. His son gave him the confidence boost that he needs. “Tonight. I’m doing it tonight. Wish me luck?”
“She’s gonna say yes either way. Good luck,” he mumbles, the sleep pulling him back under. Toji leans down to kiss the top of his head and walks back to the living room where you were waiting for him...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter Ten: Yes
Toji watches in the corner as you talk to your brother the whole evening. You try to beckon him over, calling him to sit next to you but he told you that he’s fine where he’s at. Your eyes would dim, just for a second, but your brother and Megumi would pull you back into the conversation so you wouldn’t stay sad for long. The ring box felt like a brick in his pocket. He has no idea when would be the proper time to give it to you, and it didn’t help that his son glares at him whenever you aren’t looking.
You are just so beautiful. He didn’t want to interrupt anything that you were doing, no matter how insignificant the task may seem… but that means he has been sitting on this ring for weeks now.
Toji first tried to subtly bring up the idea of marrying you to Sukuna first. First mistake was talking about it to Sukuna. The other man bore a shit eating grin that made Toji want to shove his face into the window while he was driving them back home from a mission.
“I knew it. I fucking knew it! This is good, man. You’re finally ready to settle down and be the perfect househusband I always knew you could be. Did you already get a ring? If so, Gojo owes me $200.”
“Why the fuck would Gojo owe you $200?”
“I said that you would buy a ring and propose by Christmas. Gojo said that you’re slow as hell and it would happen next year,” Sukuna boasted.
“So y’all bet on me instead of doing your work?” Toji shot a glance at the other man but Sukuna just waved him off.
“Oh come on. Your eyes grow huge around her and you follow her around like a goddamn puppy. Not that it’s a bad thing, but any idiot could tell that you were gonna marry her.”
Toji shook his head. “It hasn’t happened yet. She hasn’t said yes.”
“There’s no way she wouldn’t say yes. She’s just as in love as you are. And I better be your best man.”
The same sentiments were shared by others in the group. Nanami wanted to be the one to help Toji with his suit and the others, and had a few bridal boutiques in mind for you. Gojo wanted to help choose the venue. Suguru and Choso gladly volunteered to help with any and all other wedding details. Nobody seemed surprised when Toji said that he had plans on making you his wife. In fact, in most cases, they were telling him to hurry up. They have already accepted you and the kids love you just as much. You are family in their eyes.
So why couldn’t Toji just pop the question? Well he thought that maybe it was because he didn’t have any of your folks to ask. Toji figures that it was customary, even though he usually doesn’t give a shit about tradition. Even then, it was like the universe gave him a big flashing sign to get on with it because the third time he visited Ezra on his own he woke up and gave his blessing. It couldn’t have been more obvious.
So Toji sits and waits. And waits, and waits, and waits as you reunite with your brother and play with Megumi until he falls asleep in a heap on the couch. He gathers Megumi up, the little kid flailing around like noodles in his arms while he takes him to bed. You try to take Megumi yourself but Toji tells you not to worry about it, instead telling you to get your shoes and jacket ready when he comes back. You give him a surprised look but agree, and on your behind you Ezra gives Toji an enthusiastic thumbs up.
When Toji places Megumi in bed he feels an arm tugging him back before he leaves.
“Have you asked her yet?” The boy is hardly awake. His eyes aren’t open yet his eyebrows are scrunched together. Toji sighs and rubs his face down.
“I’m working on it.”
“Stop being a scaredy-cat.“
“That’s real easy for you to say, kid,” Toji chuckles.
“She likes you. A lot. And I like her too.”
“I know.”
“…I accidentally called her mom and she smiled,” Megumi confesses. “A few days ago. I think she liked it.”
“You want her to be your mom?” Of course Megumi sees you like his mom. You’ve been there for him since you came into their lives, and you fret over Megumi even when he’s not around. Caring for Megumi came to you easily, from helping him with homework to packing his lunch, or taking him with you when you had errands to do. That tender love also extends to Yuji and Nobara, who flourish under your care. Everyone did.
“Yeah. I think she'd be a pretty cool mom to have.”
Toji ruffles Megumi's hair. His son gave him the confidence boost that he needs. “Tonight. I’m doing it tonight. Wish me luck?”
“She’s gonna say yes either way. Good luck,” he mumbles, the sleep pulling him back under. Toji leans down to kiss the top of his head and walks back to the living room where you were waiting for him.
“Ezra, do you think you can watch Megumi for a little while? I still have a present to give her,” Toji asks Ezra and he nods vigorously.
“Go ahead. I’ll be fine here.”
“Really? Are you sure?” You ask. You are all bundled up with the same scarf and gloves Toji gifted you on your birthday all those months ago and fixing the laces on your boots.
“I’ll be fine. I’m sure you’ll be back soon,” Ezra grins.
“Okay. Thanks,” you say, grabbing Toji's outstretched hand and walking back outside. You had no idea what your gift could be, or why it had to be outside. You hadn’t even noticed that you technically weren’t given a gift by him yet merely for the fact that you felt like you have been given so many by everyone else. Spending this holiday with so many people is a million times better than last year. Ezra wasn’t in a coma yet, but he wasn’t around either. He had his own busy life on the other side of the world and coming back home after your parents’ untimely death was too much to bear. You didn’t blame him, but you couldn’t deny the fact that it was very lonely. Now you had a belly filled with a loving meal, belting out to Christmas carols with the radio while Toji drove you to wherever he was driving, even getting him to sing along with you.
You notice that the road he took is the same road that your bakery stays. You haven’t been there the whole week, one part because it’s Christmas, other parts because Toji asked you to take the entire week off. Usually you only did three, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the day right after, but he wanted more time with you and you couldn’t say no. Not when he was looking up at you from laying on your chest and his eyebrows tilted up like he was pouting. You were sure that your customers would understand.
“Watch your step,” Toji says, holding open your door and taking your hand again. He did take you to the bakery, and it only added to your confusion. He ushers you inside to get out of the freezing cold before you could say anything and you stand in the dark of one of your favorite places in the world, second to only wherever Toji was.
When Toji turns on the light it becomes apparent why he brought you to your store. The place was completely renovated to the layout of your dreams. You always complained how tight the space felt despite having the space to be better, it’s just that you didn’t have the money to fix it. You look back at Toji who nods at you to keep exploring.
It wasn’t the type of modernization that sucks the life out of the space it’s in with a grey and white color palette. Your store still has character, accents of red and black dancing on the walls and tiles on the floor, now wavy counters, a deep walnut with their rough edges smoothed out but still bumpy to the touch, giving it a unique texture. The two tables you had in the front near the windows were the same. You didn’t notice when you first walked in but even the wording on the windows had changed. It matched the curled logo you have printed out on your boxes finally on the windows.
You turn to Toji with tears in your eyes and your hands over your mouth. Emotions swirl in your chest. You didn’t know if you wanted to jump into his arms or break down crying.
“Wh-when did you… how did you—“
“You’ve talked about all the changes you wanted to make since I met you. All I had to do was listen,” he says, gently holding your shoulder to pull you closer.
“This is insane, Toji. I mean it was only a week.”
“We’re lucky that Christmas lands on a Saturday this year,” he shrugs. You look up at him in awe and let out a breathy laugh.
“I still can’t believe it.”
“You wanted this, right? There’s still some things they said need to be cleaned up but it’s safe for you to be here. Do you want to change anything?”
“No! No, this is perfect. I mean, I can’t believe that you did all this for me. I was fully expecting to hold out for a couple more years to save up or try to find a new store. This is… Thank you, Toji.”
You stand on your tiptoes to place a soft kiss on his lips. His eyes flutter close and his arm tightens around your body. You pull away and his eyes are still closed, his lashes fan over his cheeks and you hold his face in your hands. “I love you. This is the best Christmas I have ever had. Not just because of the bakery but because I have you and Megumi and everybody else to share it with.” Tears prick your eyes again and Toji finally opens his eyes again.
“Can I make it better?” He asks in a low voice, cautiously. A bewildered expression sweeps over your face. How could he possibly top a renovated shop? You give a slow nod since he looks nervous and he kisses the round of your nose, laces his fingers in your hand, then kisses the pads of your fingertips. You giggle in response, still unsure on what “better” could be until he puts his other hand in his pocket and slips out a golden ring. Your eyes bounce back and forth from the ring to Toji’s face, blood rushing in your ears and your heart pounding.
“I would do anything for you,” he starts, holding the ring up between the both of you. “I’ll spend the rest of my life proving that.”
You begin to cry. It was long overdue. You’ve  been holding your tears back since you walked in but they could no longer be kept at bay. Toji gathers a heavy drop on your lash line and cups your face. “You don’t have to prove anything,” you choke out. “I want you with me. Forever.”
“Forever?” He smiles. You nod vigorously, whispering yes a thousand times over, and he slips the ring on your finger. The blood red jewel glistens in the new bright lights and more sobs escape your mouth. You smash your lips on his again, throwing yourself on his body and he welcomed it. He grins into your kiss and returns your enthusiasm, lifting you off of the floor as you get lost in each other’s affection.
“I’ve been wanting to marry you for a while now,” Toji says when he finally puts you back on the ground. Your head spins with giddiness. He kisses you again, and again, and one more time for good luck only for you to drag him back down to deepen it.
“I would’ve said yes,” you laugh. “Definitely would’ve said yes.”
“Megumi was right,” Toji shakes his head.
“I can’t believe we’re going to get married. I’m going to be your wife !” You squeal and shake your hand in the air.
Toji couldn’t believe there was ever a doubt in his mind that you would say no. You have always been open and honest with him, and accepted him and everything that he was. It was hard to believe that you came to love him and Megumi as easily as you did. There were only a few vibrant moments before he met you, and there is a clear difference in his time line where you existed versus when you didn’t. He wanted to hold onto that vibrance, that warmth that you brought with you everywhere you went and never let go. He kissed you again, slowly and deep, relishing the feeling of your lips, your body touching his and then rested his forehead on yours.
“I love you.”
“I’m going to cry again.”
“My little crybaby.”
“Is my husband making fun of me?” You gasp dramatically, but your arms wrap around the back of his neck and you giggle into his neck.
“Your husband still has to finish the tour. The kitchen is updated too. No more dented ovens.”
You grasp Toji’s hand with your newly decorated hand into the back of the bakery laughing.
Chapter Eight: Mint Chocolate Chip pt.2
~TWO DAYS AGO~
Toji sits at the bedside of Ezra. Coming to visit him in your stead was something he started to do more often because he could tell the hospital was draining you. On his visits he could see a lot of your face in your brother’s. Your nose was rounder than his, lips fuller, but you both had that worried look pressed between your eyes when they were closed. He looks at Ezra, twirling a small velvet box in his hands and sighs. He had no idea it would be this hard to ask for your hand in marriage but he finds himself holding back for weeks. There were no perfect moments to ask such a question, or he would always get interrupted when he finally got over himself.
Toji thinks back to the first day he met you. The way your eyes took him in, big and bright, but he could tell there was some underlying fear in them. He told himself that he was just biding his time, heading inside the bakery to watch for a target that was going to cross the street, but your voice was as sweet as honeysuckle and he wanted you to keep talking to him. He didn’t even find the guy he was looking for, receiving an earful for Sukuna when he touched base, but he would do it all over again.
Actually, he would do it even better. He would try not to be in such a trance whenever you looked at him, and be more straightforward. He should’ve told you how beautiful you looked with your hair back and nothing covering your face. How the apples of your cheek blushed with warmth thawed him too. He wishes the smile you gave him that first time didn’t pinch his heart because he knew it was one that you gave to anyone who came in, but it left its mark and couldn’t leave him alone long after he went his own way, making him think of ways to come back. Eating all those sweets was hard, but finding another reason to see you again was motivating him.
Then he realized that he’s Toji fucking Fushiguro, and not once did he ever care what anybody thought of him… except for you. All he did was think about how he could come back as soon as the chill air dashed away the comforting heat of your shop.
Getting you a birthday gift was agonizing. He wasn’t sure what to get you, or how to give it to you. After consulting with nearly everybody in the group he followed Nanami’s advice, thinking about a color you wore often and landing on a winter set. Giving it to you on your birthday was important to him, and seeing you rush out of the bakery made his heart jump with the gift in his hand. Your smiles were wider to him, flashing your teeth at him in earnest and he wanted you to always look at him like that. Sitting across from you and sipping your favorite drink was something that he could imagine himself doing until he was old, and he loved it. He loved you.
Toji has never believed in luck, or coincidences, or anything of the sort, because everything in his life is about meticulous planning, but when Rina of all people was in the shop joking around with you he almost said “thank you” out loud to whatever may be listening. There was finally a bridge he could use to get closer to you, and Riko clocked it immediately. She has seen Toji’s stoicism from the sidelines enough to know that this wasn’t his usual behaviour, however she didn’t say anything then. Not to him at least.
But that was all that he needed. After you met Megumi at the festival he hoped his eyes conveyed his appreciation to Rina and made his intentions known to you. He would have understood if you had said no, turning him down to stay and live your peaceful life. He was expecting that to an extent, but you pressed a powder soft kiss on his cheek instead, shyly batting your eyes at him when you stepped away. If you didn’t have him wrapped around your finger before he is a boa constrictor now. Your lives melded into each other with time, and the time before you was less and less appealing to go back to.
All these thoughts create a whirlpool in Toji’s head that he is swimming in when rustling comes from the bed. To Toji’s surprise Ezra’s eyes fluttered open, squinting at the overhead light before trailing over to Toji. Alarmed by the bigger man sitting next to him Ezra jerks up, nearly tearing at the machines plugged to him.
“Calm down,” Toji said, pressing his hand down on Ezra’s shoulder and he had no choice but to settle into the bed. He has not used his muscles in months, so there was no way he could fight off whoever this man was. He gave a cautionary gaze over to the unwavering face looking over him. The dark hair, green eyes, and scarred lip sparked a dim flame in the back of his mind, one that Ezra trailed closer to and then it burned him.
“Toji?”
The other man frowned at him. He doesn’t forget faces, Toji couldn’t afford to, and he knows he has never met Ezra before in his life. “How do you know me?” He asked gruffly.
“She… she talks about you a lot,” he said slowly, carefully, the floodgates in his mind opening. Ezra eyes the ring box laying on the sheets of his bed and chuckles. “I’m flattered but I just met you dude.”
“It’s not for you,” Toji scowls, picking up the box and shoving it down his pocket. He then remembers that the best person to run the ring by would be Ezra. His fingers clenched around the box and Ezra softened his gaze.
“You’re her new boyfriend, right?”
“Yes.”
“I see,” Ezra sighs, taking in the new information. So this is who Toji. “She likes you a lot. It’s fuzzy, you know? I can hear her talking, and sometimes I feel like I can talk back, but I never can. Crazy mind-body experience that I can’t really explain fully. What I do know is that she loves that kid of yours. She always liked kids.”
“Megumi likes her too,” Toji says with a slight smile. He looks at Ezra who is smiling at him. He clears his throat and takes the ring out of his pocket again.
“I’m going to marry your sister.”
Ezra laughs. “Are you always this direct?”
“Is this ring something she’d like? Megumi and I chose it.” He opened the box to reveal a deep ruby stone delicately sitting on a gold band. Megumi was very hands-on with the process, turning down 7 other rings before they could mutually agree on this one.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Ezra says. “It’s like you drew it directly from her mind.”
Toji nods to himself and pockets the box once again. “I’ll call you a nurse.”
“How has she been? How long have I been…”
“Almost a year,” Toji answers. “She’s fine. Some days are better than others as you imagine. She misses you.”
“Thank you for taking care of her.” Ezra stretches his hand out to shake Toji’s. “I’m glad she’s not alone. I know she loves you too.”
Toji shakes his hand back, careful to not crush his fingers by accident. “I guess this makes us brothers?” Ezra smiles wide. He woke up less than twenty minutes ago and his family is growing. He is beyond ecstatic.
“…Sure,” Toji mutters, then heads out to find a doctor. The nurses and other orderlies notice the lifted mood of his and whisper to each other, wondering what could’ve made him so happy since the time he came in.
Chapter Eight: Sparking Juice
“I want you to open my present first!” Yuji shoves his present into your hands. Nobara plucks the haphazardly wrapped present out of your hands and puts her own to replace it. It had crisp edges and was topped with a bow. “She’s obviously going to open mine first, Yuji!”
“The only correct answer is opening mine first,” Megumi says, taking the basket holding your present out of his white dog’s mouth. Both black and white dogs had reindeer horns, but the white dog had Rudolph's nose attached to his snout. You laughs
 as the kids argue with each other, and Toji watches you from across the room. He smiles to himself, adoring the way that you are fully relaxed with everybody in the family. The dogs lay beside your feet, their tails wagging lazily and tongues lolling. Before the kids dragged you to open their presents, you were showing off the christmas sweater you had handknitted to Suguru, which you had made for Megumi and Toji to wear as well. Toji didn’t know how you knew his size so well, and the same went for Megumi, but they both fit perfectly. Forest green cable knit sweaters that had snowflakes carefully embroidered into it. You had shyly presented them to Toji and Megumi along with their other presents, as if you were afraid they wouldn’t like your first gift. He was speechless when he opened the box. How you managed to make them both sweaters and take care of the bakery was a mystery to him. Megumi had taken off his shirt right away and put it on, then tightly hugged you. Toji followed suit and ignored the pestering questions from Sukuna who wanted you to make him a sweater too.
You open Megumi’s small box first as he wished and you are greeted with a tiny ceramic butterfly. It’s a blue morpho, and in one of the wings your name was painted into it. You gasp and carefully take it out of the packaging.
“You made this?” You say in a hush voice.
“Yep. You said butterflies were your favorite!” Megumi smiles up at you.
“I mentioned that ages ago. Thank you, Gumi-bear,” you wrap your arms around him and press kisses into his forehead. The little boy's face was beet red when you let go of him, but when he turns to face Yuji and Nobara he sticks out his tongue.
“Beat that!”
When the gift exchange is over you, the kids, and the rest of the adults move to the dining area to eat. Gojo decided to be the host of Christmas this year, and you could tell that he really loved it. Him and his girlfriend decorated the chairs and seating arrangements with tiny Santas and wreaths. Glasses of non alcoholic, sparkling juice in fancy champagne flutes were placed right in front of the plates and Yuji grabs his and downs it in one sip. Nobara is quick to smack the back of his head and lectures him on table manners. You sit in between Toji and Megumi, and directly across from you sat Choso and his partner. She’s a pretty yet quiet girl, just like you. You give a soft smile and she returns it. Toji grabs your hand under the table and brings it up to your lips.
“After we eat we can go home. I still have to give you your present,” he says.
“You got a present to give me, big guy?” Sukuna says from down the table. Toji shoots him an annoyed look but everybody else snickers.
“Yeah, let me get the right sized boot to shove my foot up your ass. You can keep it after that.”
“Language,” Nanami warns, making the other two men stop barking at each other. He carries a gorgeous honeyed ham baked to perfection from the kitchen. “Do you want ham?” He asked you softly and you nod enthusiastically.
“Did you make this yourself? It smells amazing, Kento.”
He grins and cuts you a slice. “Nanamin is a great cook. He makes a lovely wife,” Gojo pipes up.
“Being a housewife doesn’t sound too bad,” he mutters for only you to hear and winks. “I poisoned one item on your plate,” he says offhandedly to Gojo. “Eat it if you dare.”
Gojo gasps dramatically and all the children burst into laughter. The meal was filled with jokes and laughter the entire time. You forgot how wonderful Christmas is when you have people to share it with.
You and Toji decided to leave once Megumi could barely hold his head up anymore. He had stayed up all night just for the sake of staying up and now the lack of sleep was catching up to him. Toji hauls him in his arms while you carry all the gifts you three received and herd the dogs into the car. Toji safely buckles Megumi in and climbs into the driver seat and immediately holds your hand.
“You didn’t cry this time,” he comments when he starts the car. You roll your eyes and scoff.
“I didn’t cry on thanksgiving! I had something in my eye.”
“For thirty minutes?”
“Eyes lashes are tiny,” you mumble and he laughs. “So… do I have to beg for my present or is it waiting for me when we get home?”
“I like it when you beg but it’s already there.” Toji runs his thumb over your knuckles. You stare at him curiously but if Toji didn’t want to explain something you couldn’t get more information out of him. What you did notice is the nervous tapping his forefinger made on the steering wheel, making you wonder what sort of present could make him this nervous.
Arriving at Toji’s home looked the same as always. You thought maybe he had gotten you a new car but that didn’t seem to be the case. You gather the presents once again and the dogs dash into the backyard. Megumi, bleary eyed and still sleepy, forces himself to walk so that he can see your present too. Toji stills at the entrance into the houses and looks back at you one last time. “This is only one part, but I figured you should see this first.”
“Open the door!” You and Megumi say together, and you drum on his arm and he shakes his head.
He opens the door and you enter the home hand in hand with Megumi. There was nothing new that you could see immediately. The foyer looks the same, there’s nothing on the stairs or in the living room. You look back to give Toji a confused look and he points to the dining area. You creep over there, noting the way that Megumi’s hand tightens around yours. To your surprise it’s not an object that’s waiting for you in the dining chair, but rather a person who’s back was facing you. The person hears you moving behind them and turns around, making you freeze completely.
“Merry Christmas,” the man says to you, and tears quickly fill your eyes.
“Ezra?”
Chapter Seven: Eggnog
You were restless for weeks. You barely ate, you shut down the bakery, you basically lived in the hospital until a nurse forced you to go home and take care of yourself instead of wiping yourself down in the bathroom. You couldn’t bear to be away from your brother for too long, and his condition showed no improvement.
You ignore all outside communication, leaving your phone absentmindedly at home or shut off in your bag to focus all your attention on your brother, as if there is something you can do for him besides pacing and sleeping beside him. You sleep next to your brother in the chair you brought to his side, holding his hand while you drift in and out of consciousness, a paperback book getting crumpled in the sheets since you fell asleep while reading to him. A nurse gently wakes you up, telling you that you have to wake up. Bleary eyed and body aching, you peel your eyes open and meet the nurse's softening gaze.
“What time is it?” You ask hoarsely. Your throat felt as though it was made of sandpaper and you were sure you looked as bad as you felt.
“It’s almost 10PM. You can’t stay here, hun. Go home, take a bath, sleep in a real bed, do the whole work.”
“I can’t lea–”
“Yes, you can, and you will,” the nurse says firmly. “You do your brother no good if you don’t actually take care of yourself.”
You bit your lip in response. The nurse was right and there was nothing she could do to deny it. You give the older woman a small nod, pulling your limbs close to your body and leaning back into the chair. Your bones cracked loudly, releasing the tension that has built up in them over the hours. You got your book off the bed and looked down at your brother one last time. His breathing was fogging up the oxygen mask attached but that was the only thing that changed. He hasn’t shown any improvement since the last time he couldn’t get enough air into his lungs. Anxiety seizes your heart when you think of that day again, but you quickly shake it out of your mind. You bend down to press a kiss into his temple and rush out of the room. The faster you could get home,  the faster you could go to sleep, and the faster you could come back to him.
You weren't even sure how you got home but before you knew it, you pulled into your driveway. You looked at your home with wide eyes, almost as if you parked in front of the wrong house. You knew how you left your house before. Your walkway needed to be shoveled, your windows needed to be cleaned, there was a part of your roof that shingles had fallen from and you swore you would get around to it soon. All these mental notes you had tacked in your head were already taken care of. The windows at the front of the house have a soft glow coming from inside, and you cautiously get out of your car and walk into your house.
Toji awaits you inside of your kitchen. He leans against your countertop, watching the bubbling pot of soup in front of him. He took a recipe from Nanami because he saw how his girlfriend would rave about his meals anytime he cooked. It was simple enough, and he wished that you would eat more. He knows that Ezra’s condition hasn’t changed, but he keeps missing the chance to catch you and try to relieve some of the stress. The phone calls you shared together became less and less frequent, and he could feel you slipping between his fingers. The floor creaks below your feet and Toji whips around, his hand immediately going to his hip.
“It’s just me,” you raise your hand up. Toji visibly relaxes and strides over to you. He wraps his arms around you, enveloping you in his body and you just sigh. You don’t hug him back, not because you don't want to, but because his grip is so tight your arms are pinned to your sides.
“How are you? Did you just come from the hospital? What happened to your phone?”
“My phone? Oh, my phone,” you muffle into his chest. “My phone is in my bag. It may be dead, I think. Sorry.”
Toji presses a kiss on the top of your head. He lifts your chin, his other arm still wrapped around you like a vice, and grazes your lips with his own. He kisses you once, then twice, deepening the kiss the second time around. Toji holds your face gently, swiping his thumb over your cheek and he could feel you deflating in his arms. He breaks the kiss to give you one last peck on the round of your nose, then holds you tight in a hug again. You stood like that for a while listening to the faint bubbling on the stove and the night owls hooting outside of the windows.
“How is he?”
“Same as yesterday. And the day before,” you whisper.
“He’s gonna wake up, I can feel it.”
“How’s Megumi?” You ask, switching the topic and slipping out of Toji’s embrace. You take a peek into the pot. “What are you making?”
“Egg drop soup. As for Megumi, he's doing fine. They have a science fair coming up. Asked me if you could help him.”
“He did?”
Toji leans back into the counter again and watches your back. “Yeah. He figures since you bake you'd be a good chemist too. He misses you, you know. All the kids do.”
“Oh they just miss the food I bring them. Speaking of, I made eggnog and snowmen cookies for you to take to them,” you wave her hand. You watch the soup simmer, inviting the heat to cover your face.
“No they miss you ,” Toji restates. “We all do.”
Suddenly the smell of eggs was nauseating to you. You snap her head back up and turn around. “I’m not really hungry,” you mutter.
“Do you not like the soup? Do you want me to make something else? Order something in?”
“Everywhere is close. I just want to sleep.”
“Can you at least–”
“Toji,” you say, weighing your words carefully. “I think you should leave.”
Suddenly the heat from the stove was too much. All the water evaporated from the air making it hard to breath for the both of you. You looks everywhere but Toji as he crosses his arms over his chest.
“You can’t keep doing this.”
“I just want to–”
“You’ve been avoiding me for weeks.”
“It’s not you. I just need… I don’t know. I’m very tired.” Tears start to brim around your eyes and your shoulders drop. “I’m sorry. I miss everybody too. I miss you. I’m just tired.” The dam that was barely holding together breaks and your body shakes from crying. Toji stands there helplessly as you take a step back when he tries to approach you. “ I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing. Nobody’s mad at you for having a rough time,” Toji sighs. “But you can’t push me away. I want to help you.”
You sniffle and nod. “I don’t want you to leave, not really. I was just overwhelmed for a second.” You finally give in and walk into his arms, which he wraps around you immediately.
“I know, baby, I know. I wasn’t going to leave,” he coos, holding your head against his chest. “It’s gonna take a lot more than that to get rid of me.”
You release a breathy chuckle. You pull your head back and frown at the tear and snot stains you got on his shirt. “Sorry,” you mumble once again.
“Stop it. You’ve made bigger messes before on my fa–,” he begins to say cheekily, but you quickly cover his mouth with his hands as your ears flame. You turn around to glance back at the pot.
“I’d like to taste the food you made for me.”
“Really?” He muffles behind your hands, then licks them until you laugh and puts them down.
“Mhmm. I can try your soup and you can try my homemade eggnog… or do you think that’s too much egg?”
“Who’s going to stop us?”
“Good. That’s good,” you nod, a wide smile finally forming on your lips. You felt like you hadn't done that in ages. “And tell Megumi I’d love to help him.”
There's nothing you hate more than the hospital.
Chapter Six: Warm Water
“I spent Thanksgiving with somebody who wasn’t Rina this time around. I’m sure you guessed it, so yes, it was with Toji and his family,” you smile. “They have such different personalities but I can tell they really care for each other. I almost started crying in the middle of it.”
You recount the last couple of weeks to Ezra while wiping him down with a warm towel. You know that the nurses do the same but you want to do something for him as well. You gently lay him back into the bed and dip the towel into the bowl of water beside you. “I guess you can say that we’re dating now. Well not that I guess, Toji said that. Actually, he asked to be together and I agreed. He wouldn’t force anything on me,” you explain to him. “Maybe it’s because I haven’t been in a relationship in so long but everything is so exciting. He still visits the shop when he can, but now I spend the weekends with him and his son.”
Your eyes widen as you realize what you admitted to your brother. “Before you get upset, Megumi’s a real sweet kid. And there’s no ex wife or girlfriend that I’m dealing with. I think the mom may have passed away, but I will wait for them to tell me when they’re ready. I think you’d like Megumi. He loves animals. I told him that you were a vet and he had so many questions that only you could answer,” you smile apologetically. “He has a little journal of different animals and their traits, then he gives those animals to different people in his life. Toji is a wolf. Yuji is a tiger. That’s Megumi’s best friend who he loves very much, even if he won’t admit it. Nobara is a fox. That’s his other best friend. Gojo’s a peacock, Nanami is a great white shark, Sukuna’s a bear, and Choso’s a jellyfish. You’ll know who I’m talking about when you wake up.”
You push a thick curl out of Ezra’s face. “I should give you a haircut,” you mutter. You clutch your hand in a fist next to his head. “It’s not that I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. You know that I’m a hopeless romantic. I fell in love too many times to count,” you chuckle to yourself. You pull your hand back into your lap and sigh. “But with him I feel… I feel safe. I realize that before I was always waiting for the ball to drop, for another horrific incident to blindside me, but I haven’t felt that impending doom hanging over my head in a while.” You release a shuddering breath and blink up at the fluorescent lights to avoid crying.
“I’m starting to clean up their house. I found mom’s cookbooks, if you can even call them that. You know she had that doctor handwriting that’s impossible to read. I also know that she never really measured anything, so all those recipes are her estimating,” you laugh softly. “I’m thinking about making those cardamon lumps she used to make for us during the holidays for Toji. I also have no idea what to get him for Christmas. Oh, speaking of getting things, I got you another book!” You dig in your bag to retrieve the new book.
You give a small smile. “It’s called Before the Coffee Gets Cold. It’s a book about time traveling, surprisingly. I won’t spoil it too much, but I would love to travel back to talk to mom and dad again, even if it won’t change anything. They even have an old cafe that they always went to that could work like the book.”
 Before you could say another word a monitor above Ezra’s head started to beep rapidly. You look at it with concern, unsure of what the machine was reading. Within seconds the other monitors screech as well. You watch in horror while red flashes on all of the screens. Ezra’s expression hasn’t changed, but you rush out of the room, screaming for a nurse or anybody to come help. A few orderlies hear your distress, alerting nearby nurses that run to your location. They all swarm to Ezra’s side, checking his vitals and yelling codes at each other. You watch helplessly behind them. Another orderly tries to pull you away from the scene but you stood stock still.
“Ma’am, you need to leave the room now.”
“Will he be okay? What’s going on?”
“He’s getting the best treatment possible, but please, you can’t stay here.”
“What’s wrong with him? What are they saying?”
“Ma’am please,” the orderly gives you a pained look.
Tears swim in your eyes when you look back onto the bed. A swirl of green, blue and white mix together when the tears get heavy enough. You allow yourself to be pulled away from the room as ordered, leaving the nurses and now doctor to treat your brother. You are led to the waiting room by yourself. The orderly offers to get water but you wave her away. You pace back and forth in the small space, your mind running wild with all the worst possibilities. In haste you trip over your own feet, stumbling into a chair at the last second to avoid hurting yourself, but everything hurts. Your heart clenches, your stomach is churning, your breaths are shallow. With shaky hands you grab your phone, pressing the first contact on your call log. With two rings the line picks up, and you're greeted with Toji’s deep voice.
“Hey baby, how are you?”
You can’t speak. The grief is too much, an invisible hand that constricts your throat so that only a choked sob falls from your lips. You want to explain what’s happening but fail again. Toji starts to panic on the other line, trying to get information out from you but the only thing he can hear is you weeping.
“Send me your location. Can you hear me? Just let me know where you are, I’ll come to you.”
“I’m at the hospital,” you whisper. “I don’t want to be alone.”
“Is it your brother? You won’t be alone.”
Toji’s answer was another wave of tears from you. He hates to hear you cry so hard, and he hates that he’s so far away from you. He looks at Nanami, who already saw his demeanor change and waves him away.
“I got it from here,” the blond man says. Toji gives him an appreciative nod, leaving him with the bloody men they cornered. Nanami already paid him no mind, getting down to business without him.
Toji looks down at the mess on the floor and realizes he has blood on his shoes. He couldn’t scare you any more with that. He doesn’t want to scare you at all. Your last words echo in his head before he hung up, about how you didn’t want to be alone. He leaves Nanami without saying another word.
Back at the hospital you wait in the empty waiting room. Despite you declining it the first time, a styrofoam cup of water sits beside you brought by the orderly. You flick it every so often, watching the ripples bounce, cross, and settle on the sides. You’ve calmed down from your call to Toji. Now there’s a cold, mucky feeling sitting heavy on your chest. You empty the contents within the cup in one gulp, trying to wash it down, but the room temperature water felt like slime going down your throat.
Chapter Five: Pumpkin Spice
The warmth of Toji’s hand sears through your gloves even in the nipping cold. You look around in the skating rink and see a little girl in a sparkly pink jumpsuit who is doing a camel spin before evolving it into a salchow. Your eyes couldn't even keep up with how many rotations the child was completing, and you weren't sure if cheering her on would distract her or not. You watch in amazement before she realizes that the little girl who’s finally slowing down is Nobara, one of Megumi’s friends. She hadn’t recognized her for a moment because her copper hair was tucked inside of her beanie.
“That was beautiful,” you compliment and Nobara beams up at you before giving a curtsy. You were about to give another comment before you lost your balance again. You stumbled forward, trying to steady yourself, but fell short and the ice below you was rushing up to your face fast. Luckily for you, Toji was a steady boulder who was quick to hook his hand underneath your arm to prevent you from ending up in the hospital.
“Thank you,” you giggle. “This is much harder than they make it look,” you say sheepishly when you are finally standing up straight. When Toji invited you out to come skating you agreed without hesitation, then later realized that you had never gotten on ice for any recreational business. You tried to look it up online to prepare, but it was hard if you didn’t have any skates to practice on your own. You were relieved to see that you weren't the only person unable to skate in the rink, but it was still a little embarrassing.
“Follow my feet,” Toji says, gliding in front of her to grasp both of your hands tightly. Toji wasn’t wearing his usual suits, instead opting for an all grey sweatshirt and pants combo, with a black puffer jacket and beanie to match. It was a simple outfit, one that you had seen a thousand times before on other people, but he looked devastatingly handsome. Suddenly your feet started to shuffle frantically because you were admiring his face instead of following Toji’s feet like he told you. Your face crashes into his chest with a thump that even Toji groans at. You try to pull back but your feet slip again, causing you to make the same mistake.
You slump in defeat and scowls at the ice below you. You rub your head into his chest, then lift your head up, digging your chin into his sternum to look at him.
“I suck at this,” you pout. You bat your eyes at Toji and let your arms dangle at your sides while he continues to hold you up from your underarms. “Even the kids are better than me,” you grumble. You look at Yuji who also said he has never skated before, which was true since he was struggling to take baby steps on the ice with the help of Nobara and Megumi when they first came in, but now he was attempting a triple axel because Nobara had dared him to.
Toji pressed a kiss to the top of your head, an absentminded but affectionate gesture since she couldn’t actually feel the kiss through your hoodie and beanie covering your head, but you warmed up from it nonetheless.
“You’re doing fine. Yuji’s freakishly good at everything.”
“He could go to the Olympics at this rate,” you comment, pointing at how he landed yet another obnoxious turn that Nobara suggested. The kid was only ten years old for crying out loud. You groan and turn your forehead back into Toji’s chest again.
“Are you hurt anywhere? Do you want to leave?” Toji sets you right on your feet, his eyes grazing over your body.
“How could I have been hurt? You’ve been holding my hand or body this whole time,” you laugh, then slowly shuffle to the nearest bench looking into the rink. “I don’t want to leave just yet,” you say, sitting down and stretching out your legs in front of you. Toji occupied the space next to you and you both watched the three of the children race around the rink together. You scoot closer to him, closing the gap between you, then rest your head on his shoulder. You hum along to the Christmas song that is playing overhead, threading your hand under Toji’s that was resting on his thigh. By instinct he brings up your hand to kiss the back of it and you grin in response. You sit quietly and listen to the sound of jingles and laughter for a moment until Toji speaks up.
“What are your plans for Thanks—“
“Is this the reason why you can’t pick up the phone, you fucker?” A deep voice asks behind the couple, and your eyes widen at the interrupter. He must have been taller than Toji, with tattoos on his face and creeping up his neck, and spiked pink hair to top it off. Toji didn’t even turn around to acknowledge the man. He replies with a simple, “It broke.”
“If you’re gonna lie, at least make it a good one,” the other man grumbles. He finally looks down at you, who Toji scooped and tucked closer to his body. The other man crosses his arms over his chest and whistles.
“What’s this? You actually got yourself a woman now?”
“What do you want?”
“She’s really cute. What’s your name, honey?”
Toji pulls you closer and glares at the man. “Sukuna,” he warns.
“Sukuna me all you want, I asked some questions first.”
“Baby, this is the bane of my existence. Bane of my existence, this is my baby. Now go back to whatever the fuck you were doing before this.”
“I was looking for you, asshole. We have a problem,” Sukuna says after winking at you.
You give a small wave of your hand but stay quiet during their interaction. You can see Toji getting increasingly stressed out from the conversation so you rub his thigh consolingly.
“Can’t. Busy. Take it to Nanami.”
“Nanami is pulling the same shit as you but he’s smart enough to stay inside to avoid me.”
“Gojo then.”
“He’s being disgusting with his girl right now. They’re feeding each other whatever baked goods she made for him this time and rubbing each oher’s noses,” Sukuna shivers.
“Sounds like you should get yourself a partner,” Toji sighs.
“Don’t worry about me, I got my eyes on someone. Speaking of partners, are you gonna bring her to the family Thanksgiving dinner?”
“I was getting to that before your big ass showed up.”
“I’d love to go. What should I bring?” You pipe up.
“Anything you want, sugar, I’m sure it’ll taste amazing,” Sukuna purrs and dodges the arm Toji threw out in an attempt to punch his stomach.
“Great. That’s settled. Call the kids over so I can drop them off at Nanami’s place as punishment for blocking my number again. We have some work to do.”
“I’ll be fine, Toji. It looks like your…friend needs you,” you smile.
“Thank you,” Sukuna nods. “Here you go,” he hands you a cafe cup. “The lady in the store gave me a sugary pumpkin spice latte instead of black coffee.”
“Don’t take that,” Toji scowls and snatches the cup from Sukuna. “After I take her back then we can talk. Fuck off.”
“Love you too, baby,” Sukuna teases. He walks down the street hauling Yuji and Nobara on his shoulders and Megumi walking close behind, leaving Toji and you alone to walk to his car.
“You don’t have to come if you don’t want to,” Toji says once you get in his car.
“I want to. I want to meet the rest of your family,” you assure him.
“They’ll love you, but I’m greedy and wanted to spend Thanksgiving alone together.”
“We’ll have some alone time when we leave,” you say, leaning on the armrest and looking at his lips.
“Oh yeah?”
You hum in response, drifting closer to his face, but place a finger on his lips before you could touch.
“First you should get me a pumpkin spice latte. I really wanted that one,” you grin.
