New Tech
Sophia is the world's first android citizen. After I read the article, it was very interesting that she could think of answers to interview questions that she was asked of. It’s very exciting because you can see that technology has advanced throughout the decade. In addition, she doesn’t use condition responses that is already in her system to answer. At the same time, her advance technology is scary. Sophia is thinking and creating her own thoughts. If in the future she advances more, will she be good or bad? Will she just be a robot or would she be a threat? The robot society has not experience an AI more advanced than her. How would they solve problems of the robot, if it becomes a threat?

Texting Culture
I don’t usually text all the time with my friends or family. Sometimes I would face time instead of texting. I choose to face time because it’s easier to talk verbally than through text. Text takes along time for the other person to reply back. There isn’t any specific circumstances that I choose to text, call or wait to talk in person. If it is an emergency, I would choose to call. For example, my brother got into a car accident and he texted me that he was in one. I would call him immediately to know what happened and if he is okay. The positive side of texting is that if you don’t have time to call, it’s very convenient. The negative side is that it could cause misunderstanding with people. For example: You texted your friend and they perceived from the text that you are annoyed. In reality, you just don’t have the time to text.

Phoneless
I decided to go phoneless for one day, I thought it will be easy because I had quit facebook for a whole year. I realized in a couple hours that it was harder than I thought. My phone is usually my alarm to wake me up in the morning so I had to function without it. I needed my phone to contact people and for them to contact me. I don’t really go out much so I just stayed home. To help pass time I would read a book but after I got tired of reading, I would go sketch something in my sketchbook. Although I tried to distract myself, it still wasn’t enough to pass time. I decided to take a nap. My naps are usually long, around 1 to 2 hours. After I wake up, I would find something to eat and watch t.v. I would play with my dog. My day passed away very slowly as I tried to prolong what I was doing. I miss my phone because I usually just use my phone to watch video or just text. I would do it again because having phone restricts me from doing other things like reading and drawing, etc. I gain some time to draw and read, especially reading. I really like reading but I get distracted using my phone.

Ed Osborn
Ed Osborn uses sound as part of his art. He applies the sound to his artwork and it goes through all the component in his artwork. I do think that Osborn is making a sound visual. I think the way he accomplishes this effect is by creating art pieces that could work with the sound he chose. Osborn activate space since his artwork is place in area that the sound would bounce off the walls.

The second picture was taken by myself. It is a picture of my cousin’s dog at their house. This picture was taken around September of 2015.

The name of this monster is Hexa. It is a very quiet, strong, creative, and lazy monster. During the day, it likes to pick apples from the trees because it has many arms. The monster likes to sleep around noon and likes to go biking near the ocean. It is always smiling and never talks.

Tech Post
One out of the two videos from the exhibition, Ethics of Deception: Landscape, Still life, Human, the video In Ictu Oculi by Greta Alfaro was an interesting video. The angle of the camera is set straight and it doesn’t move. The camera stays in place and everything else in the video does the work. In the video, a table is set up in the middle of the landscape with food. As the video progress vultures are seen coming towards the table and they continue to tear the table apart. The artist states, “ Vultures are harbingers of menace of death, and they come to represent that in the video, destroying the table as a symbol of civilization, human values, possessions, and control.” In particular, I didn’t feel any much emotion as I watch this video. I thought it was very pleasing to the eyes and was very intriguing. I never experience video art like this one so that’s why I don’t have much emotion. I would consider looking more at video art like this one. This type of art that the artist represented was not the type that I like particularly. Overall, I think this artwork was done uniquely and created the story that the artist wanted the viewers to see.
