The thing about Gon deciding not to use his Hunter License until he can return Hisoka's badge/land a punch on Hisoka is, it validates Hisoka's little shtick where he played as examiner through the Hunter Exam even though he was just another examinee. To Gon, Hisoka has become a more legitimate authority and judge than the exam committee. Like here I am flipping tables because Hisoka and Illumi passed the exam allegedly intended to keep out villains, and Gon over here is like, not only do I think Hisoka deserves to be a Hunter, I think he should get to gatekeep whether I am really a Hunter.

I just finished season 1 don't tell me what happens next.

Just got accosted by some mysterious masked swordsman with custom battle music. I thought I was doing okay against him until he said something like "enough of this tomfoolery" and did some nonsense sword attack that reduced me to 1 hit point. Then he just left being all "we shall meet again my little dove" or whatever.
