There’s no easy way to explain what it's like to lose almost everything and still keep showing up for someone who depends on you. But I do it. Every single day. For her. 💗

My daughter is just 9 months old. She doesn’t know the sound of laughter without sirens or what it feels like to sleep peacefully. But I want her to know this: 💬 Even in the middle of all this, she is loved — fiercely, endlessly, completely.

A short-lived ceasefire gave us a breath of hope. We thought maybe — just maybe — we could begin again. But the skies darkened once more. The dreams we were stitching back together began to unravel again.

🛠️ Our home is damaged. What little we had was scattered. Still, we wake up each morning. Still, I wrap her in the only soft things I have left — my arms, my voice, my faith.

I’m not writing this to ask for charity. I’m writing because I believe in human connection — in reminding each other that kindness still exists, even when the world feels cold.

im sorry if this is a dumb question but I wanted to ask why some Palestinians don't call themselves arab? I thought Palestinians were arabs but your post is the first time I have heard something else

It's complicated. An overwhelming majority of Palestinians do identify with being Arab (including me and the rest of my family) but there is a growing number of Palestinians online who are distancing themselves from being called Arab for a couple of reasons.

I won't get too deep into it just because it's a really long subject but it's related to zionists who believe that Palestinians are the descendants of Arab conquerors who came in the 7th century and we're the "actual" colonizers from the Gulf and Israel is just a successful indigenous land back movement so everything they do to us is justified. To push back on that, there are Palestinians who refuse to identify with being called Arab (rather just calling themselves Arabized) because of it.

I will say, most of these people who call themselves Canaanites or bash on Palestinians who do call themselves Arab are usually online and I have yet to meet a Palestinian IRL who actually says this stuff. I have a pretty complicated and critical view of Arab identity because it's actually really hard to define what even counts as Arab and being called Arab rather than Palestinian has become a form of erasure, so I do sympathize with what a lot of them are saying and I do understand where they're coming from, but I think a lot of it is counter productive and relys too heavily DNA ancestry rather than what Palestinians are now.

Like many of us being genetically related to Canaanites is not what makes us indigenous to Palestine - just having DNA doesn't make someone indigenous - we're indigenous to Palestine because of our political relationship to a settler colony and our forceful removal by said entity - not because of XYZ amount of Canaanite results we got on 23&Me. I have a lot of thoughts on the intricacies of Palestinian identity because it is far more complicated than people give it credit for so I could go on about this forever but it genuinely just. Doesn't matter right now if we are Arabs or not. We have bigger problems lol

TLDR Most Palestinians call themselves Arab and even if we didn't identify as Arabs we would still be getting colonized, so nothing about our situation would be different
