TEASER
Tumblr media
You and Jungkook weren't dating, nor friends with benefits. You two were far worse. You despised each other. Everything that others may've found endearing made your blood boil, every time he spoke you felt yourself seething. It wasn't a normal level of hatred no, it was pure detestation.
Which is why you hated how good his hands felt on you, the way he seemed to know your body better then you did. The way he had you in the palm of his hands after only a few minutes in bed with him. You'd utter dark, hateful words to each other whilst relishing in the most intimate action you could partake in. And you wanted to stop, truly. But you needed this, needed him to take control of you. You were as bad as each other and you both knew you weren't going to stop.
⸝⸝ PAIRING: Model!Jungkook X FemaleEditor!Reader ⸝⸝ SUMMARY : Reader and Jungkook had a messy past ranging from college to a few years ago, where they got into constant fights between each other. When they run into each other in later life, just as they begin to get things together, everything falls out of place. That same hatred returns tenfold, along with something new. Desire. ⸝⸝ GENRE: angst, heartbreak, situationship, ending undecided! ⸝⸝ WARNINGS: angst, toxic relationship dynamic (and i mean it), smut, emotional manipulation, verbal fighting, shame, anger, intense verbal arguments, explicit sexual content, making out, degrading names, adultery if you squint, + more to come along with the chapters..
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bidding your farewells to the group you were with, you shrugged your coat back on and slid through the growing crowd of people. You stared down at your phone as you finally managed to exit the bar, tapping furiously on the keyboard. Your friend Nari had invited you and a few guys from work out to drinks, using a 'team building' hangout as an excuse to try and get you more involved with your love life. Sure, the guys there were charming. Namjoon especially. He'd caught your eye when you first begun working under UO, a popular company known for publishing the most unique fashion magazines in South Korea. He always brought coffee to your desk when you found yourself growing tired after a late night, and never failed to ask how you and your parents were. Namjoon was thoughtful, and kind and an all-round amazing guy.
Your screen lit up with another couple of messages, all from Jungkook. He'd been blowing up your phone the entire night, complaining about the fact that he wasn't invited to the work meet. Any interest you'd been showing in your conversation with Namjoon had been halted by the avalanche of notifications, forcing you to step out. At some point, you'd grown sick and tired of his nonsense and simply stopped replying. Which lead to right now, him calling you. "Can you back off for a couple fucking hours?" You yelled down the phone at him, managing to ignore the looks from people walking past. Your fingertips were beginning to grow red, an outcome of the frosty weather outside. It made you even angrier.
"You're the one who agreed to take my number in the first place." Jungkook replied, and you could almost hear the grin on his stupid face. He was so unbearably annoying. So why did you answer his call? Why not just block him?
"Not so you could blow it up every second. I took it purely for work purposes, and I think you should start using it for that reason." You bit back, not giving any attempt to control the poison in your tone.
There was a brief pause before Jungkook responded. "So, you don't wanna come over?"
The thought of coming over, to his house? The idea of seeing his face, having to hear him talk with that annoying voice of his. Having to sit there while he plays coy, as if he didn't know what he was doing. The promise of getting to have his lips on your skin, down your neck. His hands that invaded every part of you, gripping your thighs as he hiked your legs over his shoulders. Leaving bruises where his hands had just been placed, red and blue reminders of the intense night.
You hated Jungkook, and he hated you. But you couldn't deny how good it felt when you were full of him.
"I'll be over in 20." Before you could hear his snarky response, knowing he'd won, you'd swiftly ended the call. You leant your back up against the front of the bar, cursing yourself. Your resolve was weak, and he knew just how to get you where he wanted. Where you both wanted.

" Forgiving is just one aspect of loving someone. "
Tumblr media
After getting home late one night, Jungkook had expected the usual greeting. Him explaining why he's home so late as you give him a lazy excuse as to why you were up so late. But when he finds you sat at the kitchen table unwilling to speak to him, he knew immediately that word had spread.
⸝⸝ PAIRING: Idol!Jungkook X FemaleNonIdol!Reader ⸝⸝ SUMMARY: After a photo of Jungkook and another female interacting at an award show goes viral, rumors start to spread. Reader's sick of being kept in the shadows. ⸝⸝ GENRE: light angst, fluff, comfort ⸝⸝ WARNINGS: arguing, use of foul language (f-bomb dropped once), use of pet names (again, once), self-doubt
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The coffee tonight tasted bitter and cold - the flavour an outcome of spending too much time in your head rather then paying attention to what you'd put into the cup. And cold because by the time you'd sat down to drink it, half an hour had already passed. You'd spent hours wandering the house already, having tried to pass time by busying yourself with chores already completed. You folded the clothes, unfolded at the sight of a single corner untucked and then folded again. You'd swept the floor for longer then needed, knowing you could probably eat off it at this point. The silence and lack of presence was driving you insane.
It'd been dark outside for some time now, yet thankfully winter was coming to an end. You knew this time of the year would be best for promotions, especially since BTS had recently released their new album 'Map of the Soul'. You were endlessly proud of Jungkook's achievements and the life he'd curated for not only himself but you as well. He'd always been devoted to you and never once let his fame get in the way of your love for each other. You'd been dating for a couple years now, having first got together when he bumped into you during a visit to America. You'd both ended up at the same club. Right person, right time.
After your initial meeting, Jungkook had begun to put more hours into learning English, and you'd done the same for Korean. Language barriers were the least of your problems when you were together. Sometimes, you'd simply communicate by looking at each other. Maybe it was a soulmate thing. Something only you both understood. For years, it was total bliss. Jungkook would fly out to America whenever he had the spare time, and you'd reciprocate by flying over to South Korea. Sure, it was hard being long distance, especially with Jungkook beginning to peak in his career, but you knew what you were getting into and you'd already devoted yourself to him no matter what. As did he. Later into your relationship, Jungkook had offered you both move into your own place, somewhere you and him could start a real life in Seoul. You'd jumped at the offer, finding a place of work in South Korea as you wanted to contribute as much as he did to any fees that came up in your time together. Jungkook and you were the perfect couple, completely in love with each other. And that hadn't changed. He was still the same sweet boy you'd fallen for all those years ago. Mature, appreciative, funny and never late.
Which is why it bothered you so much tonight.
Jungkook usually got home from a packed day around 11-ish, sometimes wavering depending on just how long promotions or shows lasted that day. But never this late. He'd always told you to head to bed and he'd join you if he ended up home past 10, but you and him both knew you'd rather wait for him to get home. You'd share an exhausted hug at the door, hushed greetings and head to bed after, wrapped up in his arms as he snored softly against your hair.
But not tonight. The one night where you needed him, his reassurance and soft embrace. There was none. Only the back of the door that refused to open no matter how much you'd begged it to in your mind. Instead, another 15 minutes passed before you heard the subtle footsteps on the other side of the door. You could feel your heart racing, thoughts running through your mind as the keys began to jingle. You knew he'd read the rumour. There was no way he hadn't. It was plastered all over twitter like some sick joke, an insult thrown in your face by fans that didn't even know of your existence. It felt personal. When he walked through the door after what felt like an eternity, it was painstakingly obvious he was just as uncomfortable as you were. For the same reasons? Unbeknownst to you.
"Ah, you're still awake." Jungkook murmured, shutting the door behind him. It was the sort of automatic lock door, one he'd insisted to have installed once you'd moved in together. Everything for your protection he'd explained. You wanted to scoff, to shout at him to explain himself. You wanted to do so many things in that moment - but you just couldn't bring yourself to say or do anything. Instead, you sat in silence and watched as Jungkook toed off his shoes, placing his jacket on the rack in front of him. He smelled of the night air, mixed with the same expensive cologne he'd wear for special events like the one he'd attended. The one he knew you loved. Standing frozen, you could see he was still in the same suit that he adorned in those same photos. The ones posted by thousands of accounts tonight. "I'm sorry, we couldn't really use our phones at the event." He mentioned, almost as if he could read your mind.
"So you haven't seen twitter?" You finally spoke after swallowing the lump that'd appeared in your throat as he walked in. "Well.. a staff member showed me." He replied quickly, leaving no room for any doubt to form.
It was silent for a moment as Jungkook walked over to the table you sat at, taking a seat opposite you. He knew you, he knew you didn't care about what people said about him on social media. You ignored the rumours and delusional fans online, something he was grateful for. But he couldn't blame you for tonight. He wouldn't blame you for your anger, or sadness. He knew what it looked like, and he'd never try and dismiss your feelings.
"I promise you. Those photos were taken way too far out of context." He began. "It was taken at the wrong moment and it was completely innocent." All you could do was stare down, swirling the brown liquid inside your cup. It.. was just too much. The way they'd looked in that photo. Jungkook laughing heartily, the girl next to him whispering something in his ear as they made eye contact. The moment captured, frozen in time. The text written under, conspiracies beginning about the relationship between the two idols. It was all too much. It was all too real.
"Then what was it Jungkook?" Finally, you met his eyes. The redness around your eyes was fading now, all your tears dried up after hours of doubting yourself without even a text back from him. "You don't message me all day and then this comes out? And then you come back late, what do you want me to think?" You don't raise your voice. But your tone shifts, a display of a mix of anger and sadness and distrust etched into every word from your mouth.
"I sat here all evening, praying that you'd call or even message telling me that everything was just a lie. But I wasn't even given that." You understood perfectly fine that it was a struggle to use their phone at such a big award event, but not even a bathroom break? Not even after it had ended?
"I just.. didn't know what to say. I knew it would've been something we should talk about in person." Jungkook's eyes were full of guilt, and sadness. He hated seeing you so hurt. And he hated knowing he was the cause of it.
"Every time something like this happens, I ignore it. I sit back and I watch as everyone talks about how great you and another idol look together and I ignore it. I watch as you interact with these other idols and I understand. I know what your job requires Jungkook and I've never been mad about that, and I'm not truly." Your voice waivers, out of anger or disappointment you're unsure. "I'm just sick of being left in the dark Jungkook." You've always been able to stand up for yourself, and you'd never shy away from a fight. But this, it was almost like admitting a dark secret. Having a partner whilst being in the public eye, especially in an industry like the idol one was a risk. You knew that. But you couldn't let your mental state be chipped away by the hands of the public openly creating rumours about Jungkook and other idols. Rumours are just rumours sure, but a thousand comments about the same thing begin to make even you waiver. Was it so bad that you wanted to be loved publicly?
"You know how badly I want to baby.." The familiar pet name made your stomach drop, knowing he was coming up to an excuse. "The fans would do everything they can to find you, and I can't guarantee your safety." It was true. The fans would go crazy. They loved the idea of having a chance with Jungkook, loved seeing him as a single man ready to please their desires when he lifts his shirt on stage. You knew it was selfish to even ask. But you needed this, you needed to know now just how far Jungkook would go for you.
"I don't care about my safety if it means we get to go out on dates without masks and hats, and to secluded areas that'd you have to pay thousands to rent out for just one night." You loved being alone with him obviously, and you adored the grand gesture of having him rent out an entire restaurant or small theme park just for your dates. But you wanted to be able to walk hand-in-hand down a street, be able to post silly photos of each other. You knew what you were getting into, but after years of covering up you were beginning to grow tired of it. "I want to love you. I want the option to simply go to a beach with you. I don't care about the publics reaction as long as I'm with you, in our house at the end of the day."
You both sat in silence, Jungkook nibbling at his lip as he thought over everything you'd just said. Fuck. Did I ask for too much? Was that stupid to admit? Regrets and ways to fix the situation begun to take over the heartbreak and anger you were feeling towards everything. You began to doubt yourself more then ever before.
But before you could lose yourself in your own mind, he began to speak. His words were quiet, meaningful. They were laced with love, the same love that'd got you so addicted to him in the beginning. "I want that too. More then you can imagine." Your hands were clasped at the base of the coffee cup - providing as some sort of ground to the reality you were in. "I'd do anything for you. And, I'm willing to do this for you too."
Jungkook's hands had appeared, having previously been clasped on his lap. They took yours from the cup, enveloping yours as he looked into your eyes. "I want the whole world to see how much I love you."
Your hands shook in his, and you had to fight back the urge to sob at his words. He was willing to potentially ruin his career for you, and here you were doubting him over a photo posted on social media. Honestly, you felt like a wreck. But more importantly, you felt loved.
"I'll have to speak to the members about it, and the company for sure, but I'll make sure the entire world knows about you. I'll make sure everyone knows just how lucky I am to have you." Jungkook flashed a small smile at you, one that offered copious amounts of comfort. And in that moment you could've screamed. From the pure joy of loving publicly.
"The photos were nothing, a joke made by another group's member about the way all of our phones were placed in bowls like we were back in high school. It was dumb, and that was the only time we spoke the whole night. And I'm sorry about the lack of explanation from me earlier. I should've been there for you." Truthfully, you'd almost forgotten about the photos ; having been too caught up in the tender way Jungkook held your hands against his. But it felt good to hear the reasoning - and a bit embarrassing since you'd gotten yourself so worked up about it.
"I'm sorry I doubted you.. you've done so much for me and I should've known better." You retracted your hands, your words quiet as you opted to stand up instead. You put your hand out for him, waiting for him to take it once again. When he did, he stood up and wrapped you in that same warm embrace you'd been desperate for so many hours ago. His arms were firm around your waist, pulling you ever so close to him. He rested his chin on the top of your head, breathing in the coconut-scented shampoo you'd used earlier. He kissed the top of your head, lips softly pressing against you. "I should be begging for your forgiveness for hiding you for so long, and here you are apologising to me." He huffed.
You stood, engulfed in the scent of him. He smelt like home, of your home. It was a drug to you, he was a drug. One you never want to recover from. You both knew there was so much more to come, so many obstacles and challenges that you'd have to face following the publicising of your relationship. But you knew you'd be dealing with them together. And that was all that would matter.
