I read fanfiction for fine tuned escapism

I'm so incredibly in love with a woman who i'd never want to escape from, yet my adoration is so much more concentrated than hers is to myself. She's so written into my life that I can't simply leave, and she's such a necessity I cannot imagine a life worth living without her. I don't know how to be m o r e as i fend off the inevitable because i have planned out my entire life to include her.

So when I'm lonely i look for resemblance of us in art and short stories with the same issues, especially when you're out of town, because then I can feel my emotions without caution.

So now that the Minecraft movie is released (and I have yet to watch it) I want to make my complaints again/j.

I originally wanted a more "game relevant" plot, or at least consistency in animation(which i still want) but now that it's been released to theaters I have some key points I want to share with the class.

1) the original director of the film, Shawn Levy, left the project after disagreements with mojang, and althoughidonthaveacreditiblesource - it was because of the followed storyline and how the world was depicted. So who knows what his passion project could've looked like.

2) i like mojang but hate microsoft. I think a lot of the people who are running minecraft have great ideas and potential, but I think the movie could have used more of that. I think that movies that follow the "we're from the real world, going to save the other world" only work so conditionally, especially with the rise videogame movies. If every videogame movie follows the same trope we could see one movie and be done with it. Shout out to Sonic who didn't do this because they didn't have to.

3) Instagram reels has spoiled to me that:

There is a tribute to technoblade in the movie, for a couple seconds of screen time, where a pig is wearing his crown. Not to swoon over their act in putting a reference into the movie, but I think that without the live action element this wouldn't have been as significant to me as it was.

So there's pros and cons I'll accept from the outcome of the movie.
