ok final thoughts because i have no book friends irl
spoilers below
- this series is insanely well done, the fact that she kept each book short ughhh the rewarding feeling of getting to that last cliff hanger and begging for more how the f do I find this AGAIN
- please do not read or encourage anyone to read without checking TW first, shit gets graphic but to be honest the rewarding feeling of the vividly described anguish those pigs were in, scared shitless of the girl they destroyed... that healed deeper then all my therapy sessions for the past 5 years
- i do like the romance, they do have amazing chemistry... but man, thinking she was Kennedy and feeling betrayed is no excuse for doing that? He used sex to overpower and silence a woman! That was hard to move past. I still rooted for them, liked their ending and all, but I guess that kind of tarnished Logan's character for me, and I used to adore him
overall loved the series, highly recommend (always check tw!) and will probably read again <3
mindf*ck series is SO fucking good and I'll never find anything like it... im at book 3 and already grieving

One of my favourite things about the Fourth Wing/Empyrean fandom is that we all post like Liam is still alive. Incorrect quotes? Yep. Fan fiction? You got it. Headcanons? Of course he's making an appearance. Those TikToks about how various characters would dance at a club? He’s there.
It’s like we all collectively agreed he didn’t die and completely refuse to acknowledge it, except every once in a while someone makes a post about how they’re still traumatised and like twenty people reblog with “me too 😭”.

it's comedic to me that if claire is unironically meant to be carmy's endgame, the show just becomes bad. if she was not brought on as a roadstop to sydcarmy, she automatically becomes the worst written character on the show. because after season 2 i was convinced she was purposefully added as a foil to sydney. this may still be true, but i have doubts after season 3.
claire was introduced in the fridge section and the relationship ended with carmy locked in the fridge, in contrast to carmy's (discontinued?!) fire motif. she gave carmy so much anxiety that he had to calm himself with thoughts of sydney, but now claire is carmy's "peace"? sydney and carmy had their own special way of communicating, but that was nowhere to be found in season 3. without exaggeration, all of the foreshadowing and symbolism of season 2 is slashed at the knees if they continue to force this claire/carmy relationship.
if claire is endgame then they tanked their most compelling dynamic (either willingly or unknowingly, idk which is worse). and for what? to avoid people construing an AMBIGUOUSLY romantic connection between a black woman and a white man? i actually have to laugh at the self sabotage
