the saddest tiny detail in gangnam b side for me is in that scene where gilho and jaehee figure out what to do after madam baek's death. because the first time we see that flashback in ep3, jaehee says "I trust you to protect us, Mr. Yoon."
But when he recounts that memory again in the final episode, jaehee's line is changed to "I trust you to protect us, Minseok."
It's such a small thing and honestly they didn't even have to change that line the second time, but it's like the person minseok didn't really exist to him anymore until jaehee calls him that one final time when she says her goodbye — which also serves as the catalyst for the viewer finding out his real name. and suddenly minseok is everywhere even though it's clear he doesn't want anyone (especially not K) to call him that except for her. it's like minseok died with jaehee but at the same time became more prominent than before. man i'm just sad
#things like this where i wish gbs was longer#minseok is suuuuuch an interesting character#i kinda love how much we never found out abt him#but i also wanted to see more#oh gbs i miss you#gangnam b side

There's something to be said about how the main 4 of twoe all do (or don't) follow their fathers in one way or another.
Junmo tries so, so hard to be better but goes so deep in his downward spiral that he ends up so desperately distributing the very same drugs his father is getting his hands on. Wildly different intentions, of course, but the result is all the same.
Gicheol too is so different from his father in that he would never actively harm the people he loves and rather give himself up instead. He deserves a much better fate, but ultimately meets a similar end when he's betrayed and killed by the people closest to him just like his father was.
Euijeong, perhaps the least intense example of this given her slightly less messy family dynamic, still became a cop because it was just expected of her to follow in her father's footsteps, and part of what drives her actions is to prove that she's just as capable as her father (and her brothers).
Interestingly enough, Haeryeon is the only one who goes the opposite route. She continuously starts disobeying her father's orders and follows her own heart instead, and ultimately makes the smarter choice of fleeing so she doesn't get arrested along with her father.
#moral of the story...don't become your father ig?#joking (maybe)#but i've run out of smart things to say it's before 7 in the morning#the worst of evil

In the final confrontation in twoe, it's so devastating to me that Gicheol's gun wasn't even cocked the entire time he pointed it at Junmo/Euijeong. He only cocked it when he pointed it at himself because he well and truly never had the intention of actually harming them.
On the other hand, Junmo had already cocked his gun the moment they both drew their weapons. Much to think about.

I rarely have enough inspiration to write for one fandom more than once, but I'm currently working on my third worst of evil fic......I don't know what they put in that show man it's been months and I just CANNOT get over these characters and the complexities of their bonds. I've truly rarely been this obsessed with a cast of characters.
#the only kdrama i've been even more obsessed w is beyond evil#and maybe strangers from hell#i'm really sensing a pattern here#the worst of evil

I think it's such a shame that Gangnam B-Side is only 8 episodes because my god Yoon Gilho was such a killer character I needed to see more of him. I think abt him so much

I've been thinking specifically about the complexity of Junmo's wedding ring. Because it obviously symbolizes his relationship with Euijeong, how it progresses through the show and even how it relates to Gicheol in the end. But it's also interesting to look at from the angle of what their wedding was really like.
One of the most joyous days of their lives, sure, BUT there is also that incident where Junmo's father crashed the wedding and threw a huge tantrum. Which is an incident that Junmo is continuously looked down upon by his in-laws and a lot of the police force. This IS such an integral part of why he eventually agrees to that undercover mission, too.
So in a sense that wedding ring not only symbolizes his & Euijeong's love but also this deeply integrated feeling of being looked down upon for something out of his control. It symbolizes love and it symbolizes never being enough and perhaps both of those things are so intertwined with each other that Junmo will spend a lifetime trying to pry them apart and out of his soul even after discarding the ring from his finger.
#that wedding ring is truly one of the most devastating things about twoe#soooo much symbolism in that damn thing it's insane#it's so fun to me that the scene where he gets rid of it is like#unanimously the craziest thing for everyone watching#like you think you've seen it all after that final confrontation between junmo & gicheol#AND THEN JUNMO LEAVES THE RING AT HIS GRAVE JESUS CHRIST#park junmo you were insane for that#this show makes me so crazy man idk#the worst of evil#park junmo

The degree to which these dramas specifically have fed my desires (that is, men covered in blood) is truly out of this world. Everyone who is ever involved in turning JCW into a bloody mess deserves a raise.
#becoming obsessed with jcw was inevitable this way#he just looks so good like this it's unfair#bloody jcw i think about you all day every day#the k2#the worst of evil#gangnam b side#ji chang wook

jcw characters are so fascinating to me in that they all have some kinda death wish or at least a real thing for provoking near death situations and yet they somehow always come out alive? I'm so used to being a fan of actors whose characters drop dead like flies that it's so jarring to see his characters survive the impossible time and time again seemingly no matter the universe. oh man
#hyde watches#the k2#that's what this post is about rn#but also#the worst of evil#gangnam b side#if you wish upon me#the sound of magic#revolver#might have to add to these tags in the future as i watch more dramas#ji chang wook

I doubt this post even has a target audience but I NEED to say that these two characters fulfill such similar positions and yet they also couldn't be more different, I find it very amusing.

#me when i work for some really high ranking person in the country#and also have to look out for that person's child#and then get myself really involved in that mess of a family#yes this means i am comparing anna and joowon to each other as well#the k2#beyond evil#kim je ha#kwon hyuk

I need to start moving my twoe rambles to tumblr at some point because I have nearly 300 posts analysing that show on my instagram stories over the past 4 months like I'm literally so. insane. about this drama and it doesn't make sense to me that it's so underrated when it has some of the most complex character and relationship writing I've seen like ohhhhh the worst of evil you are famous to ME

after getting into Ji Changwook's filmography, watching several dramas, and somehow getting VERY used to seeing him beat up and covered in blood all the time, I finally started watching The K2 and I must say I found it incredibly hilarious to see him beat up, covered in blood, and groaning in pain AGAIN literally first things first.
Like I'm aware I find men covered in blood perhaps a little too attractive but at this point it literally isn't even my fault cuz I really do see this guy specifically absolutely drenched in it more often than not.
#like why how does it happen in almost every drama i watch#the worst of evil#gangnam b side#if you wish upon me#revolver#the sound of magic#the k2#my only exception so far is lovestruck and well that one's a silly romcom so yk.#ji chang wook

Wi Hajoon is so fun because you look at a drama like the worst of evil and you see him as a very composed and calm guy who's got his feral guard dog in form of Ji Changwook on a leash. And then you turn around and look at a drama like bad & crazy and suddenly Hajoon is the feral guard dog on Lee Dongwook's leash. And he sells both of those roles so perfectly??? Truly spectacular. I love him
#now i wonder what were to happen if you put jcw and ldw in the same show#wi ha joon#wi ha jun#the worst of evil#bad and crazy

going through ji changwook's filmography is so fun because whenever you think you've finally found a normal guy, he starts crashing out heavy. the sound of magic had me convinced he's just a silly guy at first and then here comes his crash out arc and his practically mandatory tragic backstory like okayyyy of course. I love it

I've fallen into the Ji Changwook rabbit hole and I must say I'm greatly obsessed with that flavor of character where he's like a loyal protective guard dog to the people he cares about but also, like, a hot mess on a good day and an absolute train wreck on a bad day just in general. It's SO captivating and he sells it so well
#it all started with#the worst of evil#then it was#gangnam b side#and now im watching#if you wish upon me#if he has more characters like this...#you need to get me on that#im obsessed
