I am Angry at The Lost Book Project so please enjoy this curated list of ebooks
TL;DR: A company is trying to resell books from the Internet Archive at a markup. Here are roundups to all the free links instead.
Please donate to the Internet Archive if you find this post valuable.

20 Books On Astrology, Zodiac and Horoscopes
The Lost Book of Spells - Spellbooks and Rituals
37 Lost Books on Ancient Mesopotamia
18 Lost Alchemy and Occult Science Books Works Of Sir George Ripley
The Vikings & Norse Mythology Book Collection
My angry rant as to why I am willing to do this in my spare time is below the break.
So I received a target Facebook ad for a website called the Lost Book Project (I refuse to link to them) advertising a collection of herbal books for a nice low price. Problem - the first book I saw them selling was Culpepper's Herbal from the 1600s, meaning it's well outside copyright. I own a digital copy for this reason!
So logically, I decided to check if the other books on the list, most of which are outside copyright, were also available on Archive.org. Sure enough, the whole list is available there.
Now, for starters, this makes me INCREDIBLY angry. It's not illegal to sell out-of-copyright books, but the Internet Archive is my favorite place for old books, and like Wikipedia they operate entirely on donations. Their average donation is $17 - just about the cost of this collection.
Websites that are making money off of a free service by locking them behind a paywall are anathema to everything that the Internet Archive stands for. Furthermore, if you're in the US or UK (where most of these books are sourced from), your tax dollars have already paid for these books to be stored and digitized.
EDIT: I have also noticed that two many books are still in publication and under copyright! I have sent notices to their publishers.
Things like this activate my sense of fairness to the nth degree. I hate scammers. I hate people who sell things without adding value. And I really hate it when they're taking money from good institutions that need it. Imagine if half of the people who paid for these books donated instead!?
So please help yourself to the links on each roundup. I'll continue to do the work needed to link all of the books they offer to their proper sources.
And fuck companies exploiting the work of others for their own profit.

I saw a post asking about what the Theoi remind people of, and instead of reblogging and adding a huge list and clogging it up, I thought I’d make my own little personal documentation of feelings that the Olympian Theoi remind me of/inspire within me:
Zeus: The feeling of confidence as you walk into a room. The feeling of taking the tempest in your heart and turning it into a power that you can use to set things right.
Hera: The feeling of love for your family (whether it’s by blood or not). The gentle run of fingers down your cheek as someone cares for you when you feel alone.
Apollon: The feeling of such immense joy that you feel as if sunlight is bursting from your chest and your heart will leap right out. Smiles so big and bright that it hurts. The desire to run into the fields and open your arms to the sun.
Hermes: The feeling that every step that you take is as if you were walking on clouds, light, free, agile. A smirk to yourself knowing that you’re about to tell a good joke. The feeling of being surrounded by happy friends who feel like family.
Poseidon: The feeling of pure power as you stand towering above the water. The deep desire to dive in and let the sea foam consume you. The feeling of mist spraying over your skin as you close your eyes.
Artemis: The feeling of adrenaline pumping through your body as you clench your fist. Lying on your back in the forest and gazing up at the sky through the dense leaves above you as you hear the sounds of the Earth.
Ares: The feeling of fire rising in your chest like a phoenix after you’ve had your air knocked out of you. A final push, ignited by the last drops of the fight that you carry in your heart.
Athena: The feeling of confidence after you finish your plans. The way you strongly step in front of a friend to defend them, to protect them. The feeling of pen on paper, the steady stream of knowledge leaving your mind.
Aphrodite: The feeling of holding someone in your arms that you care about deeply. Tucking someone’s hair behind their ear as they work. Fixing a friend’s shirt. The feeling of your eyes meeting with someone you know across the room, and a smile rising to your face and butterflies fluttering in your stomach as you see them.
Demeter: The feeling of joy as you embrace someone you haven’t seen in a long time. Telling stories and laughing at dinner with the people you care about, offering food to your friends to try. The ache in your heart as someone you love departs on their journey.
Dionysos: The feeling of having as good of a time that you can, because you know you have to work the next day. Being in a car and singing with your friends as loud as you can. The smell of pine and the rustle of leaves.
Hephaistos: Being so focused on a project you lose track of time. Sweat dripping down your brow, cracking your knuckles. The feeling of giving someone a handmade gift that you worked hard on. Doing something anonymously to benefit others, without the glory.

So, like, why are witches having such a hard time with this.
Shadow work was invented by Carl Jung, a psychologist.
Carl Jung was not a witch.
Shadow work was not created by witches. It was not created for witches. It is not witchcraft. It is psychology. It is a form of psychotherapy.
There are like, witches who are taking plain old facts as a personal attack here.
Witchcraft doesn't equal therapy and it shouldn't either. There's a reason why people have to go to school and get licensed to be therapists.

Witches, mark your calendars—July’s bringing the heat and the introspection. Here's your guide to the key dates to watch this month in your magical practice:
🌕 July 10 – Full Buck Moon in Capricorn This earth sign moon grounds us. It’s the perfect time to release what's no longer serving your long-term vision. Think of it as a witchy audit—review your goals, update your wards, and maybe clean that one altar corner you've been avoiding.
🐍 July 16 – World Snake Day Snakes symbolize rebirth, transformation, and hidden wisdom. On this day, consider a simple shedding ritual—write down what you’re ready to let go of and burn it (safely). Or add snake imagery to your altar to honor the cycle of death and rebirth.
🌀 July 17 – Mercury Retrograde Begins Ah, everyone's favorite cosmic trickster season. Retrograde in Leo means miscommunications might feel extra dramatic. Cleanse your tech, double-check your spell wording, and maybe hold off on intense magical work until clarity returns.
🌑 July 24 – New Moon in Leo A powerful time to set intentions rooted in self-worth and bold expression. This lunation is perfect for confidence spells, business goals, and unapologetic creativity. Journal, charge a candle with intention, or script your future like the main character you are.
Remember, aligning your craft with seasonal and celestial energies doesn’t have to be complicated. Choose one or two dates that resonate and plan a small ritual around them. Even a five-minute candle spell or intention-setting session can deepen your connection to the Wheel of the Year and your own inner rhythms.

Wheel of The Year
Tumblr media
Sabbats
Most witches celebrate eight major holy days, or sabbats, through the year, spaced roughly six and a half weeks apart. Four are called the lesser sabbats, one every three months at the solstices and equinoxes. The other four are the greater sabbats, and they are in between the lesser sabbats. Each sabbat represents a turning point in nature, reflecting the life cycle of the Earth, the God and Goddess, and often human life or the spiritual journey.
The dates of the greater sabbats (Beltane, Lughnassad, Samhain, and Imbolc) are approximate; they vary a little in different traditions. The lesser sabbats are determined by the astronomical calculations of the solstices and equinoxes, and these vary from year to year. Here’s the list, with approximate dates:
Four Solar Festivals (Quarter Days): Solstices and Equinoxes
Four Fire Festivals (Cross-Quarter Days): Midpoints between them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌑 Yule December 20–23
Yule marks the longest night and the rebirth of the Sun, a turning point in the wheel where darkness gives way to returning light. Rooted in Norse and Germanic traditions, it’s a time when the veil between worlds is thin, allowing for deep ancestral and spiritual communion. Yule invites us to retreat inward, honoring the cycles of death and rebirth both in nature and within ourselves.
Tumblr media
🕯️ Imbolc February 2
Imbolc is the quickening — the subtle stirring beneath the frozen earth that signals life is returning. It is a sacred time of initiation and sacred fire, often celebrated with Brigid, who embodies inspiration, poetry, and healing. Spiritually, it calls us to clear away the old and begin envisioning the new, not in loud action, but in the quiet inner flame of intent.
Tumblr media
🌸 Ostara March 20–23
Ostara represents the moment when light and dark are in perfect balance, before light tips forward into dominance. This sabbat echoes fertility myths across cultures and celebrates the resurrection of life after winter’s stillness. It’s a potent time for planting literal and metaphorical seeds, aligning our actions with the cycles of growth and harmony.
Tumblr media
🔥 Beltane April 30
Beltane is a festival of sacred sensuality, where fire symbolizes not destruction, but the creative force of life. It is a celebration of polarity masculine and feminine, earth and sky, coming together in ecstatic union. Ancient rites honored fertility not only of land and livestock, but of dreams, desires, and passions ready to manifest.
Tumblr media
☀️ Litha June 20–23
Litha is the height of the Sun’s power, when solar energy peaks before it begins its slow descent. The veil between worlds is thin in brightness as it is in shadow, and many traditions used this time to invoke protection, abundance, and healing. It's a moment to celebrate the fullness of life, while also preparing for the return of darkness.
Tumblr media
🌾 Lughnasadh August 1
Lughnasadh, named for the Celtic god Lugh, commemorates both the first harvest and the sacrifices required for sustenance and continuation. It's a festival of gratitude and humility of recognizing the labor behind abundance. Spiritually, it teaches us to honor what we’ve created and ask what we’re willing to let go of to feed the future.
Tumblr media
🍂 Mabon September 20–23
At Mabon, day and night are equal once again, and we are asked to reflect on the fruits of our labor. While nature prepares for descent, this moment invites a pause, a chance to express gratitude, reconcile our inner harvest, and let go of what no longer serves. Mabon is the witch’s Thanksgiving, rich with wisdom, balance, and sacred closure.
Tumblr media
🖤 Samhain October 31
Samhain is the witch’s new year, the final spoke in the wheel where the boundary between worlds dissolves and the dead walk among the living. It is a sacred threshold between endings and beginnings, where the soul is invited to grieve, honor, and commune. It’s not just about death, but the profound transformation that death makes possible.

The damnation of imagination is one of the ugliest social crimes no one talks about.
People have been punished—vilified—for doing something as human and ancient as creating worlds, telling stories, and practicing symbolic magic.
Dungeons & Dragons wasn’t dangerous. Young people immersed in fantasy, world-building, and character exploration weren’t summoning demons—they were exploring themselves. They were processing life. They were playing.
But society couldn’t tolerate it. If it wasn’t their version of fantasy—biblical, patriarchal, rigid—it was dangerous. If it didn’t serve religion or profit, it was worthless. If it wasn’t "real," it had to be silenced.
Meanwhile, the same people who demonized D&D and fantasy forget their beloved scriptures are full of talking snakes, magical plagues, blood rites, divine punishments, dragons, floods, angels, sorcery, and resurrection. That’s mythology too.
But the moment someone writes their own myth, creates their own sacred objects, or finds power in their own symbols—suddenly it’s dangerous. Suddenly it’s “too much.” Or worse—“fake.”
I’m not here to market witchcraft. I’m not here to make spell jars to fix anyone’s life or promise quick results. I’m not a product.
I do what I do because I choose to honor what resonates with me. Even if it’s not “real.” Even if it’s symbolic. Even if it scares the ones who can’t imagine outside their own box.
Let them be afraid. I’m not here to coddle the small-minded.
If my imagination makes them uncomfortable, good. They should be. Because no one gets to crush what keeps me whole.

I want to pray to things that are real. Things that I can touch and see.
I want to pray to my local library, for being a haven for me since before I knew how to read.
I want to pray to the trees in my backyard, that lead into the woods my mother and I used to make regular pilgrimages through.
I want to give offerings to the little demon poppet I made, and kiss the top of his little head to thank him for making me feel less lonely.
I want to pray to my apartment building, my water heater, for keeping me safe and warm.
I want to pray to my body, myself, for making it this far.
I want to be grounded, show gratitude, and live fully in this singular life of mine.

real 'glow up' advice i wish i had
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imagine getting to the point in life where YOU are your own vision board; where you are that girl who has the life that you want, and you don't have to seek it out through other people. That should be the ultimate goal.
Here are subtle things that you should be doing to channel your ideal person and improve yourself for the better FROM THE INSIDE
take care of your hygiene: brush your teeth every day, wash your face with soap, wash your hair, take meaningful showers
be kind to yourself: speak nicely to yourself, treat yourself every now and then, love yourself exactly the way you came
make the effort: do your hair and wear something cute, even if you're only going to the supermarket. I bet your ideal self looks stunning wherever she goes, so make that effort if you really want to become her
move your body: dance to some music for just 5 minutes, take a walk, get off the bus a (reasonable) few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way
romanticise the hell out of your life: wear those bows, create that vision board, play that aesthetic background music even if you're just washing the dishes, wear that outfit!!!!!
admire yourself: look at yourself in the mirror and remember what you look like, take a million selfies to look back and smile at, give yourself a compliment every time you pass your reflection
get creative: if you want cute decor, make it! if you want cute clothes, find some easy DIYs!
focus on what you can control: if you cannot change the situation, let it resolve itself. don't waste your precious time obsessing over something you cannot change
get to know yourself (again): rediscover your hobbies, try new activities, learn to appreciate your solitude, get out of your shell
I really wish I was part of a community like this when I was going through a really insecure and lonely phase of my life.
Instead of deciding to wake up a 3am every day from now on, and trying to reach 20k steps every day, start small and walk your way up to greatness!

Journaling prompts to reinvent yourself ౨ৎ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how do I want the world to see me, and does it match how I see myself?
how do I show up for others, and how do they show up for me?
what about my life feels like love and what doesn't?
where does my time go, and where do I wish it would go?
who do I admire most, and what about them speaks to my soul?
is the way I live aligned with the life I dream of, or a I just coasting?
what qualities in others feel the most magnetic to me? Do I reflect those?
what’s inside my bag, and what does it say about me? (be honest, even the gum wrappers count.)
if I could script my perfect morning, how would it begin?
what passions have I ignored that I would like to reclaim?
what’s one small, powerful shift I could make today to move toward my dream life?
write a tender letter to the future version of yourself. What do you hope they’ve become, and what do you want them to remember about now?
As always, please feel free to share your own prompts and check out my insta for more of me! <3
