I’m fully a JimWen freak btw like the yearning, the slowburn, the restraint, the denial. It’s fucking delicious. Wen so unabashedly going after Jim, wanting him so achingly bad and expressing that much to him. Jim flattered and interested but dealing with heavy baggage, needing to take things slow. Jim initiating spending time with Wen because he can’t help it; despite painstakingly guarding his heart, he has a crush on this guy.

Like the way they look at each other. The way they work through obstacles together. The way they’re fitting into each others’ lives. The way they have already had a taste of what the other is like in bed and how that colors their interactions with desperate tension and agonizing intimacy. The way Wen is finding a home, the way Jim is learning to let someone inside his walls again. Wen’s head on Jim’s shoulder. Jim grabbing two beers every night. I can’t fucking believe this.

i know i’m making jokes about it, but i do genuinely think if you hate jim or think he’s some horrible guardian, you are missing the point quite a lot.

like no, he shouldn’t be reprimanding li ming for kissing a guy but jim has also lived his whole life gay, poor, and oppressed. he doesn’t want that same life for li ming which is why he’s been so hard on him up until this point. jim knows that as much as li ming wants to travel and take on the world, he can’t because their financial situation doesn’t allow for it. jim knows as much li ming wants to stand up to heart’s parents and tell them where they’re wrong, they have money and power and can ruin them.

no, he’s not handling everything right but we also need to consider the fact that jim isn’t even his dad. he didn’t plan to have a kid, we don’t know the reason li ming is living with him or how long he’s been living with him. we can make the guess it’s at least been a few years, but even that’s just a guess.

the point is jim’s not handling everything the right way, but everything he’s doing is out of love for li ming and the desire to protect him. and that’s important, especially when you consider he’s not even the one who brought li ming into the world.

Just saying that I adore every single MLC character because they are so well written and flawed and real with their problems and good and bad sides.

I love that jim is caring but also incredibly obedient to those who are richer and more powerful than him and is a coward.

I love that Wen is a good listener but can't set boundaries and at the same time crosses them all the time himself.

I love that Li Ming so wholeheartedly wants justice and the best for everyone but is also so quick to blow up.

I love that Heart wants to be loved so much and understood that he... nah i dont see flaws in Heart, he is lovely and perfect bye.

I love that Alan would set the world on fire for the people and things he loves but can't come to terms with them.

I love Gaipa. For everything. Nothing to add.
