“Yes sir.” The words are polite still, but not nearly as tense as they had been when she first arrived. As they leave the office she pulls the door gently closed, and follows behind him. “I'm excited to get started!” She chimes, in response to working the front with him.

She already has the job, but she has the feeling it'll be one she wants to work hard at. Not that she was the kind to ever put less than a hundred percent into the things she did, and she did need the job-- but more than that this seemed like it would be the perfect place to work. Greyson seemed nice if not intimidating, and the opportunity to learn different positions, too? That was practically priceless in her mind. “Oh, wow. Really? That's amazing… I know I should focus on my actual job now but if there's ever a chance for me to learn the different positions in the future I'd really love that. Developing a skill set can only be useful, after all."

"Good." He still doesn't inflect much, nor is there a large change to his facial expression. But Greyson inclines his head and laces his hands behind his back once the door was opened, leading her further into the building.

"Close the door behind you, please. I will be taking you to find a uniform and choose a locker in our backroom. Once that is handled and you have paper and pen, we will start with you shadowing me-- following me as I do what I expect of you. You will be working the front with me, as part of the waitstaff."

He rounded a corner, pausing in front of a new door. "However, if in the future you feel more confident with your job, if you wish to transfer or work a different position, that can be arranged. I wish for my employees to grow as they wish, where they want to be. So if you want to grow any skills or pursue a more specific career within the restaurant, that will be possible."

She nods as he agrees; they both knew the truth about her likeliness to get hired elsewhere. But his philosophy is comforting, the more she eases into it without the worry that it might just be some sort of test. Greyson seems… like a genuinely nice guy, who wants to help her. If not a little intimidating, of course. Still, she finds herself smiling a bit more as he continues on. 

And when he finishes she stands, and nods. “I would like nothing more than to learn, thank you so much for the opportunity-- I'd love to get to be a part of your team.” Her smile seems to get warmer by the moment, and a new cheery undertone is peeking out from under her voice. She joins him near the door. “Where do we start, sir?”

Her switch was not unwelcome, if a little sudden. But that wasn't something he minded. Maybe something he'd spouted had-- worked somehow. Miraculous.

"I am sure most wouldn't give you their time, you are correct. You have no experience, nothing that makes you a strong candidate yet. But I want you to want to work here. Because you need a chance to prove yourself, and I need good, loyal and dependable people on my team who want to be here. I think we can assist one another in that regard."

He moved to the door now, to allow her time to process, but to be ready to leave once she was, as well. "If you want to learn, that's really all that matters, Miss Trellue. I am happy to give you the opportunity to test yourself. Welcome to the team, should you accept."

What if they kissed for fox :V

Fox was a friend. A good friend, who she trusted deeply not to hurt her. Still, she finds herself fidgeting nervously from where she sits atop the bed, her stomach knotting and her mind doing its very best not to think a single thought. How does she-- how could she--? She swallows thickly, but offers a smile when the other comes close and rubs at her arm. A comforting gesture, it helps. 

And then… Fox initiates, and for all of the energy and muchness the other has she is gentle, easy. Mary Belle melts. It is good, so soft and tender, and not at all the evil thing the world has told her that it would be. Their lips part after a few infinite seconds, and despite her very red cheeks Mary Bell presses forwards, to throw her arms around Fox and bury her face somewhere against the side of her neck.

She shifts a little when he comes closer, to face him just a tiny bit better. But he's… silent, and then he takes her glass and then leaves again. He's speaking in fragments for now, keeping his hands busy, and something about his movements remind her of pacing though he's doing no such thing. It… reminds her of KingBreaker actually, when he was trying hard to be sensitive but didn't know how to be, or when he got worked up over something. It softens her, even just a little bit. 

And honestly? His words do help. It helps put things into better perspective, and for maybe the first time since she's got here she feels like she can take a full breath. She nods. “Yes, sir.” Despite the formality she even sounds more at ease, and there's a soft smile on her face. “I will do my best to learn and to fit into my new role as best as I possibly can. I… thank you, for giving me so much of a chance. I know you said it's because you like having a full staff, but it's very generous, and very kind. I'm sure there are lots of people who wouldn't even give me the time of day."

Greyson listens, his head tilting to the side. He re-approaches the chair, crouching down beside her. "....Listen." He starts, before stopping. There's far too long of a pause to be helpful, before he sighs as if defeated, and takes her glass.

Retreating to the sink, he tries again. "Miss Trellue. I can sympathize with feeling you are not meant to be here. But to that, I think I can only ask you one thing." Glass cleaned, he turns around, returning close to her, though this time still standing. The formality helped.

"You already have the job here. Whatever things you are worried you will do incorrectly for an interview, whatever you were prepared for, is done. It is over, and will have no further effect on your job or your performance. All I need is for you to do a job I have hired you for, and to commit to doing it as best you can. I do not care how long it takes you to learn what you need and to feel you do fit in here. I will accept that as my investment into you and your future. All I need from you is a willing earnestness, to work towards it. Do you think you can do that?"

If her face was bloodless before it switches on a dime, her cheeks flushing as he calls her out. Her eyes stare down into her empty cup, boring a hole through the bottom of the glass. She takes in a deep breath and lets it out slow, her shoulders slumping as her eyes close. All of these nerves weren't getting her anywhere-- they were just making things worse. And she couldn't get rid of them but… maybe if she just stopped trying to pretend so much, it'd lessen.

When her eyes open, they trail to the side, and her shoulders stay slouched. “I-- I’m sorry, sir. I'm trying to be professional but this is the first time I've ever really had to be. And… I think this is th’ fanciest place I've ever been to, too.” She offers a half hearted laugh. “I'm just afraid of messin’ it up, a job like this would really help out, and you seem awfully nice, I think it's just… a real scary experience. I don't exactly feel like I belong in a place like this.” She admits, sheepishly.

He raised a brow. "Are you sure? You look ready to pass out. That wouldn't be good for business." And he wasn't one to really note these things. But with how bloodless her face was, the way her voice nearly cracked over a pen and paper of all things, and even the way her hands shook around that glass, he could tell something was wrong. He wasn't sure why she was showing signs of distress, when she already had the job. What more was there? Maybe his attempt at hospitality was not conducive to comfort as he'd been led to believe.

He brushed back his hair for the moment. "I don't know why you are upset...But this isn't a test, Miss Trellue. You will not be fired for not having pet and paper. You will not get any extra merits for pushing yourself before you are ready, either."

Mary Belle nods along to his explanation as he gives it, blinking as he downs half his glass in one go. She takes the opportunity of his distraction to take a fair few drinks of her own. The cool water was nice, definitely, even if it wasn't as cold as it could've been. It still soothes her, even just a little bit. And she's thankful for that, as warm under the collar as she had gotten. She doesn't want to be a sweating mess after all! She hasn't even really done anything yet. 

When he addresses her fully she gives a deeper nod. “Yes sir, that sounds like a great idea. I'm definitely more of a hands on learner and I'm hoping I'll be ready for that sort of thing soon after you show me the ropes.” Oh, wow, a uniform? Already? It makes sense she guesses, this was definitely a fancy place so even if she was training it'd be a better look for her to be in uniform, huh? 

Paper… and a pen. Paper and pen! Agh-! She KNEW she had forgotten something! She had read it too, that it was a good look to come to an interview with paper and pen for note taking. Showed interest, or something like that. She can envision it perfectly, the paper pad and black ink pen she had gotten ready for the day, just… sitting on the kitchen counter still. Great, just great. She takes another drink of her water to try and collect herself. “Yes, please, that would be lovely. I actually meant to bring a notepad and pen today but uhm… I was sort of in a rush and forgot them on the counter.” Because admitting to that was a good idea. But it was a lesser of two evils, right? To be prepared and to not have it or to have never been prepared at all…? Or maybe they were just as bad. 

She finishes her water with another drink or two. “I'm ready whenever you are, sir.”

His face doesn't reflect much, but he nods at her acceptance. He stands up. "I will be working in the restaurant today as I would if performing the job I would expect of you." He answers, before taking this cup and draining half the glass. "You will 'shadow' me by following me and seeing what I do. I will try to explain some things and the standard operating procedure I have for the task. That way, you understand your duties. You are also free to ask questions about the task, or the job itself if you wish. Whatever will help in your decision making process." Another sip and his cup was empty. He moved nearby, to a sink near the fridge with a glass rinser. He added soap with a few sloshes, and then used the device to rapidly empty and clean the cup, which then was left the glass on a metal rack beside it to dry.

Greyson turned to face Mary-Belle, and he leaned against the counter with a hip with crossed arms. "If you seem to be understanding everything well enough, by the end of the shift I might have you perform the tasks you've seen me complete a few times. So that I may see you at work. I will be close by for verification or assistance should you need it. If that sounds agreeable, then when you are finished with your refreshment and mentally prepared, we will begin with a visit to the employee's changing room. You will be provided with a uniform to your specifications to wear while working here, and a locker for your belongings."

He paused, before inclining his head. "I would recommend taking notes, as it can make things easier to remember. If you require paper and pen, it can be provided as well."
