Hi ! Your post picked my curiosity, because I play in French, and I had no memories of G'raha doing menial tasks to earn his Sharlayan citizenship.... Because it doesn't exist in the translation. French translation is usually closer to Japanese than English, so here's what I can translate from his entry (unfortunately Encyclopedia Eorzea haven't been translated, so no information from that)

First part about the history of Corvos and the Miqo'te is basically the same with different wording. Garlemald invaded, the Darnus's family started to investigate what remained of Allag there, so the G tribe decided to send G'raha to the Students of Baldesions.
''The descendants of the Miqo'te made sure to preserve their secret ; they placed under the Student of Baldesions G'raha Tia, the possessor of the knowledge and heir to the eye of blood. This is how this young man got the Sharlayan citizenship overnight. He then studied the ancient Allagan civilization, which earned him the status of Archon of the Stadium.''
Notes :
- I translated that he got his citizenship overnight, but the way it's worded in French implies he just became Sharlayanese, no mention of how he got it precisely.
- The Archons are linked to the Stadium (as they need to present their thesis there), but it's mentioned several times that he didn't study there, out of the Scions only Krile, Alphinaud and Alisaie did. (Maybe Urianger, can't remember, but I know Y'shtola and Thancred didn't.)
Otherwise, from memory, he does mention bullying because of his eye, but I don't think he says from where. The wording seems to imply it was from children in his tribe, but your arguments about how it's illogical stands strong. I could always do a fast NG+ of CT one of these days to find back the bits of dialogues if you wish.
My theory is that the writers forgot the parts about children with odd eyes to be lucky, especially because the bullying has never been mentioned again, so they may try to sweep this like it never happened.
Feel free to ask more questions, or about other pieces of lore in the game, and I'll try to find it and translate! Hope this helped, kinda.
G'raha Tia's Childhood Woes.
I've further discussed this topic with a friend - if anyone has any further information (please, no headcanons.) feel free to add more to the discussion, but this is what we know so far in lieu of this previous post.
#g'raha tia#final fantasy xiv#for my followers : yeah I play ff14 now. things happened in the last year.

I'm gonna post a take that hopefully doesn't get a lot of hate but I grew to really love Kairi from Kingdom Hearts as a character partially because of how awful fandom was to her.
Like I get, Soriku is an amazing ship with great chemistry, but I also can see why Sora would love Kairi so much as well. People seem annoyed that she's given the standard female love interest treatment, but I refuse to ever look down on a female character for being treated that way. There is power in Kairi being warm and kind and friendly. There is power in her being the person Sora looks forward to returning home to, the person who comforts him most.
She doesn't have to be a complete badass or epic girl to deserve Sora's affection. She's sweet and kind, and he loves her for it because she is always a place to return to for him. She is someone he trusts with all his heart.
While I agree that I would like the series to do more with Kairi, I actually find her struggling to fight alongside her friends very relatable. She loves Sora and Riku so much and wants to be able to fight at their side, but she's not as naturally gifted at fighting as they are. But she shows the courage and the resolve to at least try and keep up with them. I think that's really amazing and relatable for people.

I seem to be overwhelmed by emotion.
You know, sometimes I feel like I keep holding onto a time gone by.
I came across a blog that was very prominent years ago, and I started digging through their archives, noticing how their presence slowly faded away, posts dwindling. This took me to a rabbit hole of nostalgia throughout other blogs and people who used to be here, used to be so lively. To other sites, to see where they are now, how they've been. And what struck me is how so many, really everyone has let go, they've moved onto something else, or just faded off to obscurity as a whole.
How time passes by. "How fast the night changes", indeed. How a hub of familiar faces that one takes for granted in the moment has somehow disappeared. You feel like it's forever, that moment will last forever.. ..until you've traveled far away from where you started. But here I am. Still.
Nostalgia is a heavy, though partially pleasant, weight. Seeing something so familiar that reminds you of a place and time long ago, where you cannot go even if your heart yearns, you can only remember. My heart aches.
And I think that's why Kingdom Hearts will always be so dear to me, and why I never seem to let go, never completely leave. It represents something in my soul that is fixed to a point in time that is my deepest, truest self. For this is my Destiny Islands, this is where I come to, from all the heartaches, happiness and adventure of all my years and life, I always head home, to the shores of destiny.
Like my heart has washed up on that shore, forever to be pushed and pulled by those waves.
But I can still hear it, the comforting lull, the sound of waves.

honestly Kingdom Hearts presents itself in such a colourful way and distracts with all the Disney worlds, that it can be easy to forget that the lore of the setting is that there was once a conflict so devastating and bloody (fought mainly by child soldiers) that it shattered the world of light into pieces and the various worlds as they are formed in the aftermath, separate lights drifting, never to touch again
the present of the setting is a post-post-apocalyptic universe and the only remnants of the world before is the graveyard of fallen weapons at the epicenter of the conflict and the city founded by the sole survivor, built on the ruins of his original home

I did some light research into the "man sells his soul to the devil at a crossroads to play guitar" legend Nomura mentioned and it's mostly associated with one man, early 1900s blues master Robert Johnson, and can we talk about this part of the wikipedia page about him
A man. in a graveyard. playing guitar. influencing the musician that the crossroads legend is actually about. hi

Hello tumblr! First off, I wanted to announce the release of a Cliji fanzine! This is the reason we didn’t have WarfieldWeek in 2024, because most of us were working on this Zine, and it’s finally almost ready! So mark your calendars for the Zine’s release date! It’s free and digital, so we hope to have many people engage in this huge contribution between writers, artists, cosplayers, and collectors!
And we’d also like to announce that Warfield Week will return for 2025! We have no dates or prompts yet, but with those of us busy with the Zine finished, we’ll turn our attention to hosting another week!

Anyone else find it fascinating that whenever we're shown Roxas's feelings through Sora, it's just kind of melancholic and wistful, but the reverse scenario always feels like you just walked into a psychological horror?
Seriously, the way it's presented, it's like we're meant to see Roxas as an old friend that we miss talking to, but Sora - our original "old friend" that we would have reasons to miss - is hardly even shown as a person. The contents of his memories feel less important than the effect they're having on Roxas, which is usually Extreme Distress and/or physical pain.
And it's insane to me because KH1 was so whimsical! The memories that Roxas (and Xion) are experiencing are literal Disney magic! But the way they're shown, with the fuzzy filters and the glitch effects, sort of removes the emotions you associate with them and makes them come across as eerie and unsettling.
Not to mention, Sora's memories rarely prompt any feelings of happiness, the way Roxas's might make Sora extra fond of the Twilight Town crew... which might say more about how KH1 affected Sora's mental health than anything.
(I personally stand by the idea that the story revisits it so much as an analogy for how repeating events in your head over and over can alter your perception of them)
But like. how wild is it that this series found a way to take its cheerful protagonist, and without changing anything about him, turned him into this constant, unnerving presence that haunts the lives of two other characters?
And I think another reason Roxas doesn't feel like he haunts Sora in the same way is because no one really... treats Sora like a person while he's asleep. He's either a tool or an object of affection, and regardless of which you pick, his feelings are seen as secondary to the goal of waking him up. As a result, the narrative focuses entirely on Roxas and Xion's personhood, and unlike Sora, they never stop being treated like people once they're made inaccessible due to the plot.
It's probably a bit late in the story to bring it up by now, but I still wonder if we'll ever see Sora be upset with Riku for sacrificing people in his name. Sure, it worked out in the end, and I'm not sure if Sora's even aware of what happened (how likely is it that he's properly sifted through all of Roxas's memories at this point?) but there's a list of things he could still conceivably be mad at Riku about that he hasn't processed, and I want this to be one of them
