I just have a lot of feelings about Ninetails from Okami... like what it if was on track to be a celestial brush god and then it didn't make the cut, so it just ran off with its reject pal(s).

God chose the zodiacs based on first-come-first-serve (the cat didn't make it in Japanese legend, which is interesting considering he's included in Okami as a brush god), so I'm just going "what if there were more animals that didn't make the cut?"
