You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they're usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don't see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.

Think about it. In real life, the person that's bottling up all their emotions is not the one that's brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it's that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you're upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…

…they've never actually told you anything about themselves.

You will solve problems others cannot.” She smiles, but sadly. Iron Bull: Looks like my old Tamassran was wrong. Bet she’s pissed one of her kids went Tal-Vashoth. Cole: Agents with hushed tones. Eyes stinging, forms to fill out, course corrections, reduce risk of similar losses. Cole: I remember the little boy, too wise, eager to help. Words break in small secret spaces. He got away. He got away. Iron Bull: How could you know that? You’ve never even met her. Cole: Your hurt touches hers. Iron Bull: Well, that’s, uh, creepy. But… thanks.  Okay this is easily one of Cole’s top five most heartbreaking banters. Up there with “you can put the bodies down”. I will cry forever over Tama learning about this now.

gonna copy some of my fandom daemon thoughts from another site to here, here they are

connor's would be a chocolate lab and, despite the fact that cyberlife would specifically make android daemons to conform as much to acceptable stereotypes for androids as possible (loyal, obedient, common family pets) connor's would genuinely suit him.

Hank's is a bearded vulture because its purpose in life is not to be aggressive but it can be if it needs to be, it's social, and not least because it's badass as fuck. like can't you just see teenybopper hank and his daemon headbanging to something and like, getting it into their collective heads that if ever there was an animal that looked like it rocked out to heavy metal, it'd be the bearded vulture. also they vomit when threatened, which. appropriate going to go a bit afield, away from characters I actually play, and say fowler's is a bulldog (dog= loyal, bulldog= loyal to a task, stubborn, persistent, also its face looks like what fowler’s face tries to do whenever he looks at hank). north and androids like her might have their daemons remade into other animals, fiercer more independent ones. gavin's is a horrible goose. ooooh i bet kid androids's daemons are like transformers, they have a limited (and maybe varied among different androids to seem more organic) number of animals they can change into

Thinking about the fact that Hank can't even change the settings on his phone, despite the fact he's only a year older than I am, and I think I finally have a plausible hypothesis.

Technology has been getting more "user friendly" at the expense of people understanding what it's doing. When I was making excel graphs in the 90's, I had to click a dozen times to individually select each element. Nowadays you press one button and Excel does it all for you automatically. It doesn't always pick the right data though, leading to much swearing on my part as I fight to fix it manually.

So I can imagine Hank's phone asking him to pick an environmental profile so it can automatically optimise the volume of his ringtone based on ambient noise and him weeping that he just wants to make it two notches louder.

there is a lot of “wait what” and a lot of “why would you even” and not a zero amount of “settle down steve” in reading the dark tower books

but at the end of the day when i think about them i think about the rose that is a tower that holds everything together and makes you feel like it’s worth carrying on, and i think about jake saying he let me die, i still love him, this is the truth, and i think about everyone getting soft forehead kisses before the final ruination

and that’s worth slogging through the mess to find what beautiful things grow there

I always get a kick out of seeing people say they’d die for Roland Deschain. Like, I get it, but that’s kind of his entire problem.
