how to disclose that ur a theatre nerd?

been inactive for like 5 years soooo now im a junior in college?? my love for theatre is still alive and well dw, but my dating life has gotten very busy lately and i have yet to find a casual way to share that fact.

like its such a polarizing interest, i feel like my credibility is destroyed when i tell ppl im a theatre nerd but it's such an important part of who i am?? in a very deep, vulnerable, incredibly thoughtful way. please advise

I want to write an alternative version of Romeo and Juliet where instead of being a little ponce and trying to work things out for himself, Romeo asks his smarter friends what to do about the whole thing and Benvolio and Mercutio come up with the world’s greatest plan:

Marriage of convenience between Juliet and Mercutio.

Think about it.

Juliet’s parents want her to marry into the Prince’s family. Mercutio is a good compromise between no marriage and Paris.

Mercutio probably won’t get his inheritance if he keeps being HELLA FUCKING GAY ALL OVER THE PLACE so a beard is only a benefit to him.

They would probably get along great rolling their eyes at how adorably stupid Romeo is.

Romeo and Benvolio could get a “bachelor pad” right next to Juliet and Mercutio’s house. Every night, Romeo and Mercutio high five as they hop the fence to go bang their one true love.

The second half of the play is just all of them trying to keep up the charade and being “THIS CLOSE” to getting caught all the time. But everything ends nicely because true love conquers all.

Everybody wins. Nobody dies.

Ok babes I need to yell about Love, Simon for a bit cause I went to see it yesterday with my nb partner and I have f e e l i n g s

Simon has a Hamilton playbill on his wall

There’s a scene when Simon’s dad says someone’s really gay because they really like les mis and my partner turned to me and raised their eyebrows

The openly gay kid at school, Ethan, is honestly a legend like he says to get some hummus for this homophones “baby carrot penis”

Simon is a walking disaster who thinks every person he comes across is Blue

I too absolutely love Brendon Urie and he makes me gayer by the day

When Simon comes out to Abby I related to it so much cause the person I came out to first wasn’t a long time friend and I felt ok if I had to cut ties with her and how it took me a lot longer to come out to my best friends

Martin is a piece of shit because holding Simon’s emails as leverage is a horrible thing to do

And of course he leaks them after being pissed that Abby doesn’t like him and forcibly outs Simon

Simons friends also kinda annoyed me with their reactions because they basically leave him even tho “they’re ok that he’s gay but they used him” like guys, he was being blackmailed

Leah says Simon wanted her to be with Nick to hurt her, but Simon genuinely thought she liked him so like, that annoyed me

When Simon and Ethan are publicly humiliated for being gay, Simon’s “friends” don’t go to comfort him, they just leave him to sit alone (this is the main reason I had some problems with them)

Simon’s parents actually made me really happy and when his mom says “you can exhale now” I actually cried

The vice principal is the definition of “I don’t realize that what I’m doing isn’t helpful” because of the whole “I think the two gay kids are dating even when they said they aren’t”. I’ve experienced that actually and it’s kinda funny but mostly annoying

The ferris-wheel scene made me cry so hard like that’s the most romantic thing I’ve ever scene

When Simon and Bram finally kissed the entire theater cheered, and when I looked back I saw a bunch of older parents sitting with their kids and it made me so happy

The idea of needing someone to inspire you to come out made me really happy cause I remember coming out and thinking I was the only gay one and now I have a bunch of people around me who are LGBT+ and it’s really accurate to a lot of middle/high school experiences

The college dance scene made me laugh so hard

the worst part of turning is that the song is completely relevant with all the shootings nowadays and I hate that. That song was written to be set in the 1800s and it’s fits in completely with what’s going on in 2018. It is 2 0 1 8 people we need to get our fucking shut t o g e t h e r. Goddamn.
