I fear have once again been duped, hornswaggled, and taken for a fool. I am continuing to read Stomlight Archives and am almost through WoR and I'm starting to pick up on the telltale signs of a LOVE TRIANGLE. I really hope it's just implied because I truly CANNOT with love triangles, they are very possibly my most hated trope in books or really any media

Hey, so I was fully wrong. This was an interpretation based on an incomplete reading. They went back to Kei Luminelda, the grapes do not work, and Fathrethreal is just kinda a dick.

TLDR: I'm watching Fantasy High for the first time and I may be projecting a bit and reading to deep into things but I feel like Kei Luminelda is a super fucked up place and Fathrethreal is a really tragic figure actually

I'm back to watching Fantasy High for the first time, and I'm like halfway through sophomore year and I'm sad about something that I feel like the show doesn't want me to be sad about again. The Bad Kids just left Tei Luminelda, and Rahg is talking about Fathrethreal and how he was a bit weird and like... ya everything he was doing was off putting as hell to a normal person but Fathrethreal isn't a normal person and he really I think illustrated on of the saddest most fucked up parts of Elven society we've seen so far. Rahg says he thinks Fathrethreal is just a dude who's pretty good but grew up really sheltered and so doesn't know how to act around half orcs, which is technically true but it's so much more then that. Fathrethreal, and all the young Elves of Tei Luminelda have been kept their since they started puberty, away from all they know and care about, drugged up, and prevented from feeling any real emotion by hypnotic song magic, for god only knows how long, for the explicit reason of them being to stupid and horny angry all the time. And so I can't help but imagine the interaction from Fathrethreal's perspective and get super sad.

As a young child you start to change for (knowing the high elves of this world) reasons no one will explain to you, you start feeling there weird intense emotions which are either pumped up versions of emotions your familiar with or completely new(puberty is scary enough for a normal kid in our world and we have mostly supportive adults who are willing to talk about it and basic education on the subject in schools. What must it have been like for these kids who maybe didn't have any education and DEFINITELY didn't have any support),

Then you're sent far away from your home and family because they don't wanna be around you while your like this(you must feel like a monster at this point),

Your brought to this strange place where your drugged(we never see exactly what the grapes do but it's heavily implied to be a major part of what makes these kids all null) and enchanted(the song we saw forcefully calm 2 Elves in a dispute making them think that any conflict would be pointless),

And your there for at least years but maybe even decades considering how long Elves live moving through the world in this haze(I may be projecting here but I went through a period of my life where I couldn't really feel any emotions where I thought everything was pointless due to a bad bout of depression and not being able to feel things fucking sucks, it dims the good and bad feelings so in the end you just feel like your head is filled with cotton and your floating, we often use dreamlike to describe good things but it's like all the worst parts of a dream. You can't tell time, don't feel like anything has purpose, just going through the motions like your sleepwalking, and I don't know if Brennan was doing it on purpose but I saw that reflected in these elf kids MAJORLY),

But then something new happens for the first time in maybe decades, these new kids get here and they're weird and loud and raw, not anything like your subdued self or peers and you meet one of them and he's nice, sweet, you have things in common(Ragh says he wouldn't just sleep with someone he had nothing in common with so they must have some commonalities) you tell him about your baking and he tells you about these weird awesome games he plays, and he's HOT, and you don't even know what "hot" is, you were sent here for the explicit purpose of squashing your sex drive so this may be the first time that in spite of it all your really feeling attracted to someone(and once again from personal experience when something manages to cut through the haze you cling to it as an anchor to the real world, things snap into focus, and it's like coming out of the dream, and that's just with my experience with the natural version of this, Fathrethreal's haze was magically induced so that boy must have been FIGHTING because Ragh is a good guy who I don't think would have slept with someone who wasn't enthusiastic.)

Then you have sex for the first time(already a big thing emotionally for a normal teen, and that's not even considering Fathrethreal's whole deal as discussed thus far), and your weird after and you don't know how to act but how could you know? This is the first time anything like this has happened to you.

So you cling to him, you try to stop him from leaving, you repeat the same things that worked before over and over again trying to recreate the effect, and you can't tell your weirding him tf out, he says he needs to go, he needs to help his friend, but he's going to come back, so you let him go, you let go of your anchor and float back into the dream because you know he's coming back for you,

And then he doesn't(idk if they do or don't I paused the video to write my thoughts out after Ragh says they shouldn't go back and explains how weird Fathrethreal was being), and life goes back to the same null normal, and you'll get to leave eventually, after however many decades of drugged up magic floating, you'll go back from being a monster to a person and get to leave because your good to be around again, but until then this is life.

That's the tragedy of Fathrethreal and the Elves of Kei Luminelda to me, and I may be reading into way too much, but I feel like the bad kids didn't really register the horror of that place
