i think we should all go back to carrying cheap little plastic mp3 players that look strangely edible and only hold like 200 songs

Music fans reblog this with an album you consider “your” album… one that is part of your personality, one that means a lot to you, or just one you really like… Mine is The Perfect Shade of Green by Skittish :>

all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.

Knower dropped a fresh album today and it is the only thing I care about the only thing I want to listen to the only thing I want to talk about !! please listen to the new Knower album and consider buying it if you vibe with it bc they are entirely self produced and deserve so so much more love and attention than they have received. they are out here bringing insane raw talent and years of perfected skill and their own in-house orchestra and redefining modern funk and people need to care!!!

honestly i am lowkey obsessed with how terrible we didn’t start the fire is at being a song while also being among the the catchiest songs ever
this is a song that includes a man screaming CHILDREN OF THALIDOMIDE and then the next lyric is buddy holly, ben hur / space monkey, mafia
it is just one man, listing historical events more or less in order with no context or end and then layering in a chorus so catchy you will BEG YOUR BRAIN to stop thinking about it
i just appreciate that level of aimless, technically skilled chaos for some reason

i love popular music that’s good enough that you both connect to it enjoyably and also popular enough for you to hear it playing in public at grocery stores or radios or cafes or bars or stores… it’s rare for that to happen but it does happen. sometimes songs justly deserve their popularity. when i heard zombie by the cranberries roaming a grocery store and a scottish girl next to me in the dairy aisle starting humming the lyrics… when i heard shake it off by florence and the machine at a pub and the girls next to me happily sat up and started singing along… when i heard with or without you by u2 on the radio in the car and was like wow I can’t believe this sounds good and my mother was like i used to love it at your age. the whole masterpiece that is hallelujah by leonard cohen

if you build your entire identity around believing you are superior to people who don't listen to the music you like you are incredibly uninteresting and rude also

You know what’s another casualty of the dominance of digital music media? CD lyric booklets
Yes I do want to know what the singers are saying! And read the credits for who played what instrument, and learn all sorts of other info the musician(s) chose to stick in there! Even if they didn’t print the lyrics, maybe you’d get photos or background info about the artist or album
