Another painting? Already? It's like I'm back in the halcyon days of my youth where I was able to apply my focus consistently and in the direction I wanted! Indulgent!!! A couple things intersected to make this work. My brother had a birthday. ...Last month. He also has a very photogenic dog, and I started a vacation at my parents' lake house that I DESPERATELY needed. And i forgot the bag with my cross-stitch supplies :p So I picked a photo of his dog and spent the last couple days doing a couple of painting sessions per day.

I used roughly the same palette as my last still life, with a neon pink sketch layer, and building up purples, whites, payne's grey and a smidge of yellow. And much like that painting, I started this off by saying to myself 'how hard could busts skulls unicorns dogs even be?' Those early stages were ROUGH. Let's not even discuss how many times i demanded my parents look at it and evaluate the emma recognizability factor. But! Five nose jobs later, here she is!!!!
