Fixed Food Bins
Although I spend most of my time building, whenever I do play I love to run a wee shop. An unfortunate feature of many custom food bins is their propensity to revert back to the original maxis colour when you buy something from them, or the texture is in some other way not right. It's bugged me for years. I recently had an idea as to what might be wrong and managed to fix these Rustic Food Bins made by Raynuss.
I've included his original colours. You'll notice the meshes cut into the wall there but I'm not quite proficient enough again with meshing to attempt moving them, and it doesn't bother me too much. They're in large appliances, residential and community. Find them here

Fixed SKS Quoining & Recolours
I tried to recolour this set, only to discover that it wasn't properly slaved. With thanks to @felidae-sims and the Repo Wizard I managed to fix the set and made another set of recolours just to check all was good. Strangely, when you try to recolour it, simPE gives all the textures to replace. So, there's 2 extra recolor files in the folder but 12 in total. I imagine you can't delete them individually in game. In the below picture, original colours are on the left.
I haven't changed their file names so these will overwrite the originals. There's no collection file as they all show together in build>architecture. Find them here

I'm wondering if it's worthwhile offering my lots for download. Before I go any further, I've lost that lovely medieval market place I posted a while back, as well as my wee project lots, so those aren't available. However, I have rebuilt my wee town and they're better, I think. I love to build, hate decorating and only play to check my builds operating. So far, I've tested 2 out of 13. It's bleak. I'm not going to upload them for the sake of it, but if people dislike building, but don't mind interior decorating, thus have a need for my kind of buildings I'll gladly do so. So, do people want to use my lots?

This is great
Followers gift part 2: Medieval magazines!
So, magazines didn't really exist until the 18th century. But before that, there were cheap, widely available publications - broadsides, chapbooks, pamphlets - that covered a wide range of subjects like news, true crime, political commentary, entertainment (some ballads were literally just existing poems set to music) and news-of-the-weird subjects like witchcraft and prophecies and that woman in England who claimed she kept giving birth to rabbits, and so on. A lot of the same subjects covered by Sims 2 magazines, in other words. They weren't done in periodical form, but neither are Sims 2 magazines, which are the same week after week.
So that was my initial model. I started out with monochrome woodcut prints from 15th- and 16th-century books and broadsheets, but my early attempt at defaulting the magazines made me think that color might be advisable to make the images easier to recognize at tiny sizes. That led me down a rabbit hole of medieval manuscript art, with the end result that some of the magazines are using art that is far, far too lavish for a mass publication. But it's aesthetically pleasing!
All the magazines have unique interiors, unlike the originals. Most of the text is just Lorem Ipsum (I did include a bit of Chicken Little/Henny Penny in the children's magazine, because one of the illustrations cried out for it) so you're not missing anything by not being able to read it. I used Simlish TrueBadoor for all the text, titles and articles alike.
Man, that floor is pixelated. Hestia and Osanyin need to remodel their foyer. Above you see the entertainment/fashion/sports magazine, with a focus on music. That cover, like many of the others, dates to just a bit before 1500; that was my target zone, though I wasn't super-strict about it. I may well do another default later, with earlier artwork - the Codex Manesse has a lot of good candidates - but I'm a little burnt out right now, which is why I haven't followed through with the hobby magazines.
I replaced the catalog descriptions and titles in the UI, too. Mostly not very period-accurate, except for the judgmental tone towards frivolity and avarice, though I did sometimes use period titles complete with the spelling of the time.
You can see one cover for "All That Glittereth" up above, but it will display a different one when you bring the magazine home; this is normal, if annoying. Maxis for some reason included two money-themed publications and then mixed them up. The UI in use shows a sim buying the magazine in an OFB owned business, but it should look a lot the same in an unowned, NPC-run lot.
And as you can see from the image at the top of the post, I also did a recolor - two recolors, in fact - of this default replacement magazine rack by Motherof70, with my magazine covers. The rack has nine magazines on display and there are only six hobby magazines, so I included the alternate cover for Rat Race and two of the hobby magazine covers (or at least early versions of them. I change my mind a lot.)
All the textures are 512 x 512, except for the magazine rack itself, which is 1024 x 1024.
Acknowledgements: These were all built on the template of Lolabythebay's 1920s magazine defaults, and some parts - the page edges and spines - are used barely altered. I adjusted the colors on the spines but kept recycling the underlying graphic. I would never have made sense of the Maxis mapping, let alone been able to increase the resolution of the texture file, without her hard work.
If not for Xia's hobby magazine defaults, I'd have had no idea where to start on looking for the catalog descriptions to replace them.
And I probably wouldn't have thought of doing the magazines at all if not for the default rack.
As for art credit: I've been painstakingly bookmarking all the images used and would be delighted to do a link post, but I don't know how many people would be interested, and this is already getting long.
Magazine replacements: SFS or Box.
Magazine rack recolors: SFS or Box.
Everything is compressorized and seems to work fine for me. Let me know if there are any problems!

Terrain glitch
Loaded up this lot to continue building and the terrain had this pattern
I’ve added the brown terrain paint to show it more clearly but also, it shows through the new paint. What’s going on here then? The whole lot is like this
Edit It seems this is a problem caused by big textures used in terrain paints

Hello,
A quick WCIF. Relatively recently someone converted a loincloth, maybe from Skyrim, but I'm struggling to find it. I think it came in all male ages, it certainly had a child one. Ringing any bells?

Just Right
Building from your head is hard. Sometimes building involves putting a few rooms together, deciding it isn’t working and exiting without saving. I can be doing that for hours. Other times it just comes together and this is one lot that I plodded away at hours and it was just right

A wee project
Inspired by old photos, drawings and paintings I’ve been working on reconstructing part of my home town. They’re mostly going to be used as deco but one or two of them are going to be handy for dorms and apartments. I’ve also been experimenting with the post-processing mod and Reshade so these pics look like a mix of different filters

Since using the Story Progression mod, I've been plagued with my townies changing clothes at 6pm when they age up. Nearly every night and it often caused a crash. Turns out the problem was Pescado's clothing tool, or rather the globals part of the mod. Removing that part allows for the tool to still work just as it did, as far as I can tell, but so far no townies have bothered me at 6pm

Thank you for asking for angles we'd like to see, felt too cheeky to ask myself. I cannot wait to go round fixing all my roofs

Bespoke Roof Trim Add Ons
New angles! These are only available through collection file–there was way too many to sort into the catalog.
Thank you @gayars (Sim Crafters Discord) and @catherinetcjd, @motherof70 @stinkyunicorn, @kayleigh-83, @teaaddictyt, @eulaliasims and @rumoursjunior.

I think I know the set you mean, the Skyrim one, it does have a nice set of barrels but alas it's not that. My object is a lot older. Thanks for the thought though
WCIF
I'm looking for a really old deco object for ts2. I don't have a photo and I don't know who made it so obviously this is a looooong shot. I think it came from Sapphire Sims, or maybe was made by someone associated with that site. The object consisted of a barrel on its end and another one on its side beside it. There was some grass around the bottom I think and a tall thistle growing along side. Lastly, there was a wee rat on its hind legs atop the first barrel. Does anyone remember this?

Fantastic, it's an oldie but I love this item and now with functionality. Love this so much
For Historical Simmers!
This is a functional mirror version of Tarox’s Roman Cosmetics with 1 recolor. It should work for many time periods and cultures.

I knew this was possible, now I know how
Permanent Quarter-Tile Placement On!
Just wanted to share a tip I know about how to make the Quarter Tile Placement Cheat on all the time so you just have to press Ctrl + F when you want to use it without having to type in a cheat each time.
Many of you may know that adding “setquartertileplacement on” to your userStartup.cheat doesn’t work, so I’m going to tell you where you can put it that does work, in case you didn’t already know!
So, head to Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config and open up the file called “globalProps.xml” with a text editor, I recommend Notepad++. You should probably make a backup of this file first before making any changes, just in case.
In this file, scroll to the bottom and you should see a line that says:
<AnyBoolean key=“quarterTilePlacementEnabled” type=“0xcba908e1”>false</AnyBoolean>
Simply change the false to true and save the file and that’s it! The Quarter Tile Placement cheat will always be on without you having to type it in ever again! Simply toggle it on and off with Ctrl + F!
Hope that helps at least someone! I was telling my friend @morepopcorn about this trick and I couldn’t find the website where I initially read about how to do this anymore so she suggested I should make this post as it might not be common knowledge.
