i find people who express frequent reckless disregard for their bodies are often riding roughshod over an unacknowledged disability. there is a really powerful sense of "my body is going to ruin everything if I stop and feel it" that one can develop at a young age in a rigid ableist society. one needs no consciousness of their own disability to just kinda build on that forever until reality hits you something like a bug on a windscreen and you find the party's over forever.

This is probably different for different people but for me personally ADHD feels like if you can only carry a cup of water across a room if you’re juggling with your other hand

vulcan horror movies would be an exercise in emotional regulation against fear, targeted directly at vulcans' deepest insecurities. movies titled "IT IS ILLOGICAL TO QUIVER AT THIS SEQUENCE OF EVENTS" which, if one of its hundred-and-six jumpscares gets you, you'll never live it down. humans find them annoyingly scary, like a friend who won't stop trying to "get" you.
you'd think that klingon horror movies are gorefests, but it's actually quite the opposite: gore is honorable, and nothing is scarier than dishonor. they often show a person whose life falls apart despite their own valiance and virtues: like an earth tragedy but with someone who clearly doesn't deserve it. at the end, there's often an operatic number where the protagonist exclaims that there's nothing they could have done to prevent their abysmal fate.
ferengi horror movies are documentaries about stock market crashes

I think Spock could hang out with Squidward because they're the same type of cultured faggot but Squidward would get petty and mean about something and Spock would be like honestly mr tentacles I find this type of outburst very distasteful. & he would fix him

the human mind is prone to catastrophizing when left unoccupied. And that’s why it’s important to always have a little Blorbo to rotate in your head. It acts as a protective charm of sorts to redirect your imagination away from harmful spirals
thoughts without Blorbo: oh my god I was so cringe in seventh grade why did I do that
thoughts with Blorbo: I haven’t considered the interactions with bleebus; I must rectify this immediately

Torture to be a fan of any exotic animal when it's like. 90% of the footage of them is gonna be from dodo videos of people illegally keeping them as housepets . Really wish I could enjoy this video of a lynx but I also kinda wish everyone involved would die

just completed an important but relatively uncomplicated task that's been hanging over my head for 2 weeks straight. i have been having actual nightmares and anxiety over this, worrying i will never get it done. it took me all of 30 minutes and was lightly annoying but not terrible. the relief i feel is physically palpable, like a sword has been removed from my sternum. and yet! in the nature of the human spirit! i will learn nothing from this experience!

I don’t believe tsw*ft is a revolutionary or even interesting artist but she *is* the only artist who has her own folder on my phone dedicated to lyrics that make me incandescent with rage so from a perverse conceptual perspective I guess something is working

living next to a body of water never gets old. I don't think it even matters if its the ocean or a lake or a little creek or whatever. lizard brain sees big pond and lights up instantly and says "perfect, we will zone out in front of this for 15-30 minutes and go home refreshed."

I think it's important to occasionally make fun of Deer Skull Christian God Pomegranate type writing for the exact same reason that you have to actually write that sort of thing. You have to develop an original voice as an author and that will inevitably take you through the Faux Gothic Melodrama Swamps.

It’s definitely not “do whatever you want bc nobody cares” it’s somewhere between “people don’t care as much as you think they do” and “if you want to truly do what you want you have to not care about how much other people care”

why bother caring about the environment when 1. It’s so obviously a lost cause and 2. There’s definitely going to be a nuclear war?
And what are you doing about it Anon? Learn about ecological restoration or get out of my way.

Hey, I have a question, so a group of construction workers has recently built a nest outside my home and seem to want to spend the summer months there. They've already started construction on a project, so I assume they're healthy, but is there anything I can do to make sure they get the nutrition they need throughout the hot summer months? Do I need to have a steady supply of beer or energy drinks?
construction workers are expert foragers and don't take well to interruptions, so the best you can do is leave them be.
if you want to encourage them, however, you can spend three to four hours on the street watching their project with your hands clasped behind your back. this makes them feel like they are doing a good job

so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.
"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"
but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.
such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.
