Speech is a Wound, says the Husherist. Do you think they could be content humming a tune?
As long as that tune has no words. There are, after all, no words in the songs of birds.

It's not done yet, but progress has stalled enough that I'm worried if I'll ever finish.
Here it is: the first draft of the Hushery doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_xprBt3j3bwldDZSM4JFguUuVmDDXCKD0Zn-tEZdhGg/edit?usp=drivesdk
After I complete the planned content, I will be doing a second pass with what I've learned to see if more recent revelations will change how I view certain texts. Please, let me know if you have any thoughts or comments!

Mlle Matutine was confident she would be the best-dressed woman in the audience.
"Of course I had an ulterior motive when we last spoke, Librarian. Sometimes I wonder if I have any other kind. I have a woman at the opera in mind; a woman with potential. Never mind why. Call it another ulterior motive. Help me, please."

John Lavery, Hazel in Rose and Grey (1922)

Mlle Matutine was confident she would be the best-dressed woman in the audience... even though she had decided on a departure from her usual style.

One might mistake them for old women, until they discard their skins. The place is aswarm with them. They are strong as strangling roots, and at least half-Long, but they can be deceived, and they are very wary of light.

Despite their grudging respect for the Elegiast, the Haustorium warns against the Elegiast's subtlety when he chooses to interpret History. The Debate of Seven Cups discusses the nature of the Chandler, her influence of the gods-from-steel, and the way in which sorrow can shape the gods-who-were-from-stone, who are implied to feed their fires. The skill it gives, Solutions & Separations, is an alchemical art focused on the subtle shaping of the Histories. The Elegiast is an Hour of Subtlety and Sorrow: now we can only ask how he might seek to shape Time's Course.

Timothy has become aware, somehow, that Dagmar has a ruinous castle somewhere in Mitteleuropa, and that this quite naturally features a chapel. He has many questions about the construction and decoration of this chapel. Dagmar is initially delighted to talk about it, but her knowledge shows its weaknesses under the relentless cannonade of Reverend Timothy's questions. When he unfolds a list of further questions that he has prepared in advance, her courage fails her, she makes her excuses and heads outside for a smoke. Timothy, however, follows.

Hokobald has questions on the stained glass windows in the chapel of Hush House, and their depictions of the Hours. Reverend Timothy - who has long been passionately interested in the history and architecture of the House - is eager to share what he knows, but is clearly nervous that Hokobald may have some ulterior interest. Hokobald, however, evinces nothing but genuine (if condescending) curiosity.

Zachary has two names, one in Killasimi. For unclear reasons, he will not say it aloud, only referring to his status as a guest. This may have something to do with the 'duties of guest and host' discussed by Abbot Geffrey in 'the Elations of Limentius.' This is compared with the ramifications of whether an Hour dwells within, is allowed to visit, or is barred from the House of the Sun. Killasimi, of course, is the language of Nowhere, the great scar below the House. What does this mean about Zachary, and his 'limbless passengers?'

Zachary describes his understanding of the 'Angel of Storms', the beauty of her underclouds, the accesses of her lightning, how he yearns to cage her in glass. Agdistis listens patiently; now and then his eyes flicker as if he understands.

Connie asks business-like questions about a didumos - the twin or reflection of a star - that she fears may have been employed to commit crimes-of-dream. She suspects it has taken refuge in the Mansus-shadow called the House of the Moon. Morgen, answering with surprising frankness, nevertheless makes it clear to Connie that the Suppression Bureau will never be able to follow it into the House of the Moon - and that she will under no circumstances help them try.
