“You’re delirious, but you’re not dead.”
Witcher Sentence Starters
It takes a bit for him to muster up the strength to reply, wheezing and struggling to sit up. After a bit, Hakuba is forced to give up and lay limp against his blankets again. Unsurprisingly, they’re stained with black. 11:26:01… 11:26:37…11:27:05…
He laughs weakly, trying to focus, trying to take the stress away from the pain in his chest. “I’m surprised. I thought it would kill me this time.” Cough cough. The room is spinning around him. His eyes struggle to settle on any particular object until he just allows them to fall shut. “Are you alright?”

“Speaking of minds. Know what’s on mine? Murders!” ((IM AWARE THIS WOULD BE THE FIRST ENCOUNTER AND I HAVE ZERO ISSUES WITH IT))
Hiimdaisy Sentence Starters
…There’s a long pause after the other speaks. Hakuba appears to be thinking over just what would be an appropriate response to something so… startling, but it takes a fair while for it to come to him.
“What is the matter with you? Are you going to take this seriously or not?” Face taut with frustration, a hand raises to pinch the space between his eyebrows in an attempt to soothe a mounting headache. He thought that this conversation might be difficult, but not like this… “Won’t you please answer my questions? Your motive, Mr. Dove.” Despite the polite suffix, he speaks through grit teeth, free hand clenched tight around the pencil in his hand.

“I-is that my blood?” ( aoko ) >:D
Injury Sentence Starters
“Just sit still. Stay calm.” Funny advice for him to be giving when his heart beats like a hummingbird’s wings, humming with anxiety in his chest. Pulling his gloves on and pushing up his sleeves, he pulls up the hem of her shirt ever-so-slightly to see the wound at her waist. Hakuba winces– that bullet hardly left her unscathed. Blood seeps through her clothes and onto his gloves, though he’s so tunnel-visioned that he can’t even think about it.
He never carried full medical supplies around with him, but he could at least do something. Hakuba whips a tube of disinfectant out of the pocket of his suit, uncapping it. “This might hurt. Take deep breaths, please.” Even as he applies the product in all of his anxiety, his face is calm and solid, hands stilled. Trained in the art of working through stress.
Quickly, Hakuba removes his handkerchief from his pocket and presses it over the wound. “I’m so sorry.”

twiceminded:
“If only my coworkers knew enough to follow that little saying,” Al scoffs, before listening to the details carefully. Every scrap of info that Hakuba comes up with is always useful – he’s excellent at piecing things together, so what if he’s not even an adult yet? Kids grow and time passes, you’d think you’d want someone like him on your side.
“Strangulation, shot after the fact. Caught by a witness. Strangulation indicates the victim and the suspect may have had a relationship of some sort – it’s a very intimate way of murdering someone. If that isn’t the case, it could have been a thrill kill, albeit one that was very poorly thought out. Idiot. I would’ve been much more careful.”
Sir. For the love of God.
“Though we’ll need a sample of her blood and a sample of the blood off his clothing. Hand size does not incriminate alone. Does she have defensive wounds? And… did his hands test positive for gunshot residue? We both know how difficult it is to get your hands on a gun around here, so I’d love to hear an explanation if that’s the case.”
“We still haven’t found the weapon, so there’s no way of identifying it besides the side of the gunshot wound. He must have disposed it somewhere after the fact. We’ll find it eventually.” He rubs his temples. Al’s attitude is difficult enough to deal with on a normal day, much less at a crime scene, but he hardly has a choice except to work with him. Flaws aside, his intelligence and shrewd attitude were incredibly useful if he wanted to solve a tough case, even more so if he wanted to be taken seriously among people he rarely worked with.
“She had skin under her nails. He had matching scrapes on his arms,” Hakuba says nonchalantly. “He must’ve been wearing a jacket and took it off. There’s not much on his shirt, but on his hands? Yes.” It doesn’t make sense to him. The lack of care in covering up the crime indicates that that man was probably acting on impulse, inexperienced in his intentions. There’s no way that someone would just...
He sighs, puts a hand to his chin. “It’s frustrating. I’m just not on the top of my game lately.”
