Big fan of making up weird outfits for this bug. Like, I guess there is some functionality to them... But this one was just for funsies. Also, to give Kabbu nods to his teammates.

Finally, at his own leisure, Businka appears!

The biggest magnet for trouble out of the PTT. Supposedly as punctual as his friends in theory, but awfully inconsistent in practice. He gets side-tracked easily and often loses sense of time. Add their 24 hour work days, mix in finding any opportunity to take a break... yeah, there's just no place for consistency, even with their never-ending energy.

"Businka" isn't actually their original name. The original character is named "Electrobusik", but I think it's lame and has way too many letters. Though, coming up with a good nickname was a bit of a challenge. You can't trust the public with a word ending with "us". The name "Businka" is actually one of the recently popular (?) nicknames for partners and means "a small bead". And it has the word "Bus" in English! A win-win in my opinion.

I wrote the notes in the drawing before I embraced Businka with he/they pronouns. Now I think they would vibe with any pronouns, really. But he/him are like their work pronouns and they/them are their default ones.

I think we can all relate to the unreliability of buses, and, as it turns out, electrobuses aren't different! But buses are also the only public transport, not counting taxis and such, that have night routes. Subway closes for the night, even if it's after 12 AM, and the river transport closes late in the evening.

Businka's outfit is inspired by the Moscow's bus driver's uniforms:

I actually can't find the picture I used for the reference specifically, but whatever. It's there in spirit.

Slow but steady, Rechkin reporting for duty!

The secret silent hothead of the PTT. Respects deadlines and schedules, though goes at his own pace. If you ever heard the phrase "beware of a quiet dog and still water", you'd know it's about him. He lets many things wash over him, but if you push one of the few of his buttons... he bites.

Again, his name "Rechkin" is taken straight from the source material. But, "Rechkin" is like a family name/surname/last name. So, I felt the need to add the title "Captain". And also give him a proper first name. Petya is a nickname for Pyotr or Peter, which is the first name of the first Russian Emperor. Peter the First, also known as Peter the Great, is famous for many things. One of them is building and modernizing the Russian navy.

Captain Rechkin is inspired by Moscow's all year regular river transport, which consists of electroboats. Like electrocars or electrobuses, but ships. It's very modern and technological and cool, in my opinion. There used be something like this about 200 years ago and this is sort of revival of it. But Rechkin is very young. He is the youngest of the three, actually.

His uniform is inspired by this picture I found:

I don't know what those young people are doing there, considering there's basically no crew except for the captain on those water buses. But I like their uniform.

Right on time, here comes Metrosha!

The most responsible one of the PTT. She is efficient, smart and confident in her abilities. She has convinced the entire public transportation branch of the city that, considering all the previous social adverts for women working in the field, they ought to continue and make her more feminine.

The name "Metrosha" is entirely unoriginal on my part. That's the name of her original counterpart. However, I like to think that it's actually a nickname and she has a full version of it. But it's masculine in nature, so she never goes by it.

Her two voicebanks are based on the fact that Moscow Metro carriages have two announcers: a man and a woman. They use the man's voice when the train is headed towards the city center and the woman's voice when the train is headed away from the city center. On the subway lines that go in a circle, the man's voice announces the stations clockwise, and the woman's voice – counter clockwise.

I based Metrosha's uniform entirely on the Moscow subway's uniform for women:

Welcome my new not-so-original characters!

I'm calling them "Public Transportation Team" or "PTT" for short.

For the Russian speaking community: Я зову их "КОТ", что расшифровывается как "Команда Общественного Транспорта"

These three guys are 90% inspired by two things: Moscow transport's mascots for children and No Straight Roads' robots. Having to see originals everywhere mixed with my resurfacing love for the game created a very strong fuel for my motivation.

I will post about each of them separately sooner than later.
