MICKEY MEETS SOME COMPETITION

The idea of Mickey having a rival for the affection of Minnie has often been discussed but was never an actual fact until the introduction of Mortimer in the latest Walt Disney Mickey Mouse production, "Mickey's Rival," which is now playing at the [...] Theater. You may ask yourself what he looks like, how he acts, does Mickey like him, and a few other questions, but for the answers you'll have to see Mickey, Minnie, and Mortimer in action in this latest all Technicolor United Artists release. True love, according to the best information on the subject, has never run smooth, and Mickey finds this out without much difficulty. SPANISH INFLUENCE

According to Webster's dictionary, the colloquial meaning of card is "an eccentric; one particularly given to drollery; a droll fellow; a wag; a character." Mortimer fits the description to the point of overflowing, all very much to Mickey's disgust.

(note: card, droll, and wag all basically mean the same thing: a funny person, a jokester, etc)
