The New Masculine...

Wearing Pink. Being emotional. Showing affection. Hugging. Picking flowers. Smiling. Being passionate. Expressing. Dancing. Showing interest in Fashion. Doing hair. Complimenting other men. Doing any of these things doesn’t make you less Masculine. It’s time we stopped being defined by “standards” and accept who we are. Stop living in the shell of one person’s mind set on what it means to be a man and be your own Man. Gay and Straight Black men can coexist together with out the pressures of society labeling you. We can learn from each other, we are each other’s keepers, and at the end of the day All black men are a target to an unjust system and we need all of the support we can get. Stand up for each other, stand by each other, stand with each other.

THE SAD, STRANGE LIFE AND DEATH OF DEVONTE HART: THE CRYING BLACK BOY WHO FAMOUSLY HUGGED A COP

After Ferguson, a viral photo turned the tween into a symbol of post-racial America. But his murder — at the hands of his adoptive white mother — shows how much of an illusion that all really was

We don’t yet know if 15-year-old Devonte Hart died when his adoptive white mother, Jen Hart, 38, stomped on the gas pedal and drunkenly, intentionally, drove her 2003 GMC right off the edge of America. We do know the SUV plunged 100 feet down the cliffside and crashed into the Pacific Ocean, killing her, along with Sarah Hart, 38, Devonte’s other adoptive white mother, and four of his siblings: 

Markis, 19 

Jeremiah, 14 

Abigail, 14

Ciera, 12

The apparent murder-suicide remains an open mystery.

At present, Devonte is listed as missing. Local authorities haven’t recovered his body, nor have they located his sister, Hannah Hart, 16.

(Devontes bio mom) Sherry Davis’ children were forcibly removed from her home by Texas authorities due to her struggle with cocaine addiction. Davis, who was complying with her court-ordered drug treatment program, also fought to get her children home. But before she could get them back, they were adopted by a couple in Minnesota: the Harts. 

In light of what we now know about his murderous adoptive white mothers — who’d been cited for a pattern of repeated child abuse dating back to 2008 — this powerful image twists into a more potent symbol. A symbol of systemic failure. Far more heartbreaking than anyone imagined at the time.

On Wednesday I wore pink as a testament to how far I’ve come in my personal journey with accepting all aspects of myself specifically how I identify and express my gender, by being in-tune with my masculinity and femininity. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 This month I’ve seen so much homophobia and transphobia it makes me so sad and angry. Where do I even begin? Two years ago I auditioned for Howard with some of the biggest talent in America. Fast forward through freshman week, Caldwell, no Sweet Charity, Cabarets, living here over summer, first professional show that is, fingers crossed , gonna sweep the Helen Hayes tonight, Urinetown, Birthdays, kickbacks, holiday parties, dc outings, singing in public, dressing cute, Bison Ball, meeting new friends, growing as a person, Haircut, etc these 11 people have been there. They are so talented and beautiful I’m so blessed to be surrounded and embraced by them.
