Campfire Confession
Akame, handing Leone a roasting stick: „Don’t burn it like you burn through enemies, Leone. We still need dinner.”
Leone, laughing in embarrassment: “Trust me, I’d rather burn through your defenses than dinner. You’re always so… closed‑off.”
Akame, staring quietly into the flames: “That’s because I know what I lose when walls fall. But with you… maybe some walls deserve to crumble.”

I can’t help but find similarities between these two. Both pretty badass characters who are despised by their respective communities (for different reasons, of course) but still have a small handfull of people (including myself) who like them.
I decided to get rid of both of their scars for this drawing (Adam’s branding wasn’t included and Seryu has her arms) because it seems more fitting to be whole in the afterlife (honestly, it’s because I didn’t feel like drawing either of those things because I’m lazy)
Also, the halo’s are a reference to Akame Ga Kill Theater where the deceased characters would show up with halo’s over their heads. It doesn’t matter how bad the characters were, they all had halo’s (which, sadly, included Minister Honest. Seriously, he should be suffering).
Also, don’t ask how these two even startes talking to each other or how they even met here, they just did, accept it.

Leone x Akame Hurt & comfort + cuddles
The mourning at the base started out great. As great as it could be at least. The turmoil of the previous night still hasn’t settled yet, leaving everyone at the base uneasy to a certain extent.
Everyone except Leone. Sure, the revolution might be so close and the pressure is on, but yellow haired beauty was as carefree as ever. Maybe that’s what kept her going. Who knows, it’s not like she would tell anyone. She would rather laugh it off and tell some funny stories to light up the mood. That’s the way how Leo was and how she had to be to survive. So there was no point in changing it.
But today was different. After shopping for some medicine at the local market early in the mourning, lioness has returned to the base. It was very quiet, indicating that her comrades haven’t woken up yet. The sun was shining, but it was barely 10am. So she was pretty understanding when dropping things off in the kitchen for later use. She didn’t want to wake anyone up and so decided to head off to the hot springs for some relaxation. Perhaps it would feel a bit lonely to do it alone, but Leone didn’t mind it to keep her mind at ease and warm up her body before the main battle starts. She has to give it her all after all.
On her way to the hot springs, woman quickly lurked inside her room, grabbing a towel and a bottle of sake (so her time alone wouldn’t be so boring). After grabbing her “essentials”, Leone turned around and went down the corridor towards the exit when she heard something unusual. While passing by the many doors dhe heard some commotion behind one. Curiosity struck and she stopped, listening closely. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but this cat was listening to the quiet muffling and sniffling coming from the door of her beloved ally, Akame. For a moment Leone hesitated, but that moment quickly passed as she heard an almost unheard quiet cry. Leo instantly took a step towards the door and lightly knocked.
- Heya, Akame! Are you okay? - her playful voice did not give away that she was concerned for her friend. She still sounded as happy as ever, although her tone and voice was much quiter than usual, perhaps in fear of scaring red-eyed girl.
The door fell silent after her question. Perhaps, she shouldn’t have started with interrogating questions. She may have been a nosy woman but it all stemmed from care and worry for Night Raid, for her family. Leone just wanted to know if anything was wrong and how she could help Akame.
Quiet steps were heard and the door slowly opened, revealing a very tired looking Akame in her pink pyjamas. She looked up at Leone and instantly reached towards her, embracing the taller woman in a hug. Leo didn’t expect that and was shaken up a bit. Thankfully, she remained on her feet and didn’t lose her balance, half hugging her friend with her left arm while the right held the sake bottle with the towel. Without hesitation, she hugged her friend back while also moving inside her room. Akame didn’t want to let go but allowed Leo to place her belonging on a table while taking a seat on her bed.
- Are you okay?
Leone’s voice was quiet and warm. Akame sniffled slightly, closing her eyes and taking small breaths. She tried her best to compose herself in front of her bestie. This was not the time for crying, not when they were so close to winning the war.
- No. i don’t think I am.. - Akame’s voice was sore, as if she was crying all night. Her eye bags didn’t look that good either.
Leo tilted her head, her smile lowered a bit, but still remained. Her hand landed on Akame’s shoulder, squeezing it lightly.
- What’s going on?
She didn’t sound aggressive or persistent to know the answer to her question. The best thing was that Leone did not sound concerned, at least she didn’t let her worry come out with her voice. And this greatly helped Akame to relax and feel at ease.
- I-I…I killed her, Leo. My sister is dead, - Akame’s red eyes looked into yellow ones with emptiness and desperation, - I know it is what she wanted and what must be done.. But still… Kurome is my sister and I..I failed.
Akame was vulnerable. She was vulnerable in front of other NR members too, but not like this. She never spoke out about her feelings about the people she killed. Maybe it was a boundary or maybe she never felt regret about a kill before. Either way, this was a first time Leone ever saw her best friend this way.
- You did everything you could, - Leo moved closer, wrapping her hand around Akame’s shoulders and pulling her towards herself, smiling warmly at the assassin, - There is no undoing what is done. You did her a favour, you relieved Kurome’s suffering. Don’t you think that she is thankful it is over?
Leone’s hand dropped lower, wrapping the fingers around and tightly holding Akame’s left hand while continuing the hug. Akame didn’t seemed to be bothered by it and squeezed her hand tighter while placing her head on the woman’s shoulder.
- But how do I stop these feelings?.. I feel..feel like I was not enough, - red-eyed girl closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. She smelled the sake on the table and felt how warm the body of this lioness was. Her right hand went around Leone’s waist, holding her tighter in this weird hug they were having.
Leone smirked and ran her fingers through the black hair in a teasing manner.
- You can’t. Akame, you have to push through and focus on the positives. Focus on the revolution and how close we are to achieving everyone’s dream, - her smile became sadder while yellow eyes were still glowing, - We can’t give up now. And if you want to express your feeling again, just call me, okay? I am always happy to listen!
Her words may have not been that deep or profound, but they were hers. Leo was herself even in this somber moment. She heard Akame’s call and came to the rescue. And now all Akame could feel was the warmth of another woman’s body and the fuzzy feeling inside her stomach as Leone placed a warm kiss on her forehead.
- Leo..can we stay like this for a little while?
Lioness hustle smiled and closed her eyes.
- Of course, Akame.
It was truly a very unusual mourning for the two of them. They didn’t tell boss or Tatsumi what has happened. They just spent an hour in each other’s arms, drinking sake before the rest of the gang woke up and girls separated to perform their daily duties. Even so, the warmth Akame felt didn’t disappear, but her worries and guilt somehow did. Akame convinced herself that it was all thanks to sake.
