i just remembered how back when lwa was airing there were people that actually believed that you were "problematic" (or rather the 2017 equivalent of that word) if you hated the singular semi relevant guy in the show. like randoms would be convinced that there was heterophobia at play
#i dont even remember the guys name i think he had some#Sort of romantic plotline with akko#That never went anywhere#maybe i should rewatch lwa#i miss croix. My ugly fucking wife

scrolling through the fandom yuri index blog and oh its so bleak...f/f only dominates if theres no canon men
#Dunmeshi used to be an outlier but i feel likeits not going to last long#something something. people love to let everyone else know that they 'love yuri'#but to actually interact with the fanworks or care about female characters?#tough case. we can only offer calling f/m and m/m ships yuri. Just so you know that we LOVE YURI SO MUCH

it's hard being a fan of something while hating the male character that is the fandom's designated pookie bear or whatever repulsion inducing term of endearment people use nowadays

Half convinced the reason Hong Lu entirely gave up on kindness was being unable to save Daiyu in the massacre
i think there's a high chance that it's one of the factors that caused him to go down that path. she's shown to be one of, if not the closest person to hong lu despite him shutting her out completely, so it's weird that there's not a single line mentioning her in the daguanyuan mirror world. we know what's up with baochai, too
it would make sense ... baoyu warned daiyu and og jia huan to stay away. while daiyu didn't die, both the massacre and baoyu's actions after it still hurt her, to the point where she probably considered herself "dead", in a way (she says "my own funeral was held long ago"). this led baoyu to believe that even if he tries to do something or not, the outcome won't be changed in a way that truly matters.
if we assume that the massacre played out in a similar way across the mirror worlds, maybe daiyu's death would be caused by baoyu not getting to warn her at all, for whatever reason. there is no true canon backing to my delusion, but i'd like to think that, with how much daiyu cared for baoyu, and was aware that he had been uncharacteristically distressed, there would be no world where she doesn't believe him.
in turn, if baoyu never even got a chance to try and save people, then it would make sense that he didn't fall into resignation and shut down, but instead turned to revenge.
but in the end this mirror world is canonically fucked beyond belief so nothing i said really matters. lin daiyu death-induced jia baoyu breakdown (limbus edition) is real and definitely happened in my head however
#limbus company#hong lu#lin daiyu#this reminded me of how disappointed i was that daiyu was so sidelined in canto 8. whatever

still annoyed about how even now, almost 3 months after canto 8 release, there are still people that for some reason refuse to take hong lu as a character seriously. it's gotten a lot better than before but it reminds me that a good amount of project moon fans don't actually care about the text they're reading in the slightest
