So I finished "Steelheart"

What the fuckety fuck fuck was that thing with Megan?? Why does Brandon Sanderson have to rip my heart out with her death and then suddenly say "haha well, she‘s actually alive/just an illusion/alive again/a bad guy/a good guy/reincarnated"???? That was definitely one of the greatest "Wtf?" moments I‘ve ever experienced while reading a book.

I mean, it was good. It just felt so random? I can see the hints, I already suspected she was an Epic, but still most of it felt weird. Anyway, I can’t wait to read Firefight - the title promises a few answers to my questions about Megan, after all. I‘ll probably change my opinion soon, when I know more.

…And just for the record, I loved how Steelheart died. The whole thing about his weakness and how he eventually technically killed himself was awesome on every level.

What's the last book you gave up on and stopped reading?

The last book I gave up on…. well, to be honest, I can only remember one time in my life when I gave up on a book. I'm a very dedicated reader, even if I don't like the book 😅.

The book I stopped reading I had only gotten because of a misunderstanding between my mom and I, because I told her I'd like "a sci-fi/fantasy book or maybe a nice mystery thriller" and she came back with three adult psycho-horror books 💀. I read two of them, and they were worth the stress (though I'm glad I'll never have to read anything like that again), but the last one ( which I've forgotten the name of)…. let's just say the second murder was a bit too graphic and leave it at that. I read the ending anyway - couldn't abandon the story without a conclusion, after all ;).

What about you? Do you often give up on books?
