When Thrór came to Moria the Gate was open. Nár begged him to beware, but he took no heed of him, and walked proudly in as an heir that returns. But he did not come back. The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A, "Durin's Folk"

Hey! It's time to get emotional about King Thrór II, father of Thráin and grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield.

Thrór spent his youth in the Grey Mountains, but after a great cold-drake killed his father and brother, he led the Longbeards back to the Lonely Mountain and became king there. When that home was taken by yet another dragon, he and his family wandered as exiles until ending up in Dunland. He drew the dwarf-map and added the moon runes marking the secret door into Erebor. Eventually he handed his son Thráin the map and one of the seven dwarf-rings and went over the Misty Mountains with Nár as his only companion. He perished after entering Moria by its eastern gates, and Nár witnessed his body and severed head being thrown out the gate by Azog.

The tragedies of elves and humans are talked about aplenty, but this guy!! He suffered so much grief and loss, and after all that he still marched into Moria for a glimpse of his people's ancestral home, probably knowing it would be his death!! DWARVES -

Disability Pride-

This event will focus on bringing attention to disability in Middle earth. No matter what it is let us show pride in our diversities and empower one another.

You may post works on fan fic, fan art, headcanons, playlists, gif sets, mood boards, stim boards, pngs, anything as long as its yours!

Past works accepted too dont feel pressure this is all in good fun.

Post your ocs.

Write some headcanons.

Learn about and explore mobility aids and different therapy modalities from a middle earth lens.

Sapphic september is for all tolkien works whether it be oc, canon, or self insert providing it focuses on Sapphic relationships (lovers, exes, gay besties you get the drift).

You can write fanfic/make mood boards/gif sets/poetry/fan art/world building posts etc.

Anything so long as its yours and focuses on tolkien sapphic relationships.

If you would like you could also participate by making a mood board/image set/ or playlist that describes how female tolkien characters have influenced your sapphic identity.

Díscember

Is for pieces focusing on Dís! Not Dís the mother. Not Dís the perfect princess. Not Dís-dead-frerins-sister. Not-ambiguously-dead-husband- Dís.

Dís. Lets see some Dís without the focus being on how shes connected to a man or how shes better than a man.

This event focuses on expanding and emphasizing Dís as a character ON HER OWN. This means not focusing solely on her connection to a male figure.

Pieces can be any fan production including playlists, image boards, character analysis, headcanons, fan fics etc. Providing the focus is on Dís.

Examples could be:

A fan work of Dís first trip to Bree!! What does she do? What does she think of the weird mix of hobbits, men, half dwarrow, and all others mixing together? Does she buy anything interesting? (Insert cursed amulet joke here)

As a book fan now, it really is funny that Bilbo and Thorin are the most popular Tolkien ship by like a lot—because every single one of their book interactions is so hostile. Sam and Frodo are over here making garland crowns and pledging their ever undying fealty, and 70 years prior Bilbo dumped Thorin wet and half-dead out of a barrel was like "GET YOUR UNGRATEFUL ASS OUT OF THE MUD AND START KISSING MY HAIRY FEET!" and Thorin is like "Y-yeah. Okay. Fair."
