"PRIDE INSIDE" - Out My Closet's annual PRIDE POP-UP SHOP event - celebrated diversity, inclusion, and empowerment within the LGBTQ+ community!

We created an event that provided an unparalleled experience of celebration and dignity for our under-resourced and unhoused LGBTQ+ clients.

PRIDE INSIDE wasn't just a pop-up shop; it was an immersive experience designed to empower and enrich the lives of our most vulnerable clients. Clients had the chance to "shop" for high-quality clothing, accessories, cosmetics, and personal hygiene products that suited their style, size, and gender identity. Thanks to our generous partner and lead sponsor, Aritzia, for donating all new clothing items!

We invited our supporters to the launch party of Out My Closet’s 2023 “PRIDE INSIDE,” more commonly termed our annual PRIDE POP-UP SHOP. “PRIDE INSIDE” offers under-resourced LGBTQ+ community members an opportunity to richly celebrate their identities in elevated style.

Many people do not have the privilege of attending Pride galas, luxe private corporate parties with open-bar and prime entertainment and have an opportunity to gather new quality clothing items. With this in mind, we created an immersive full sensory experience that offered a sample of food items and refreshing libations, high energy drag entertainment and live DJ and an unparallel level of dignity as clients chose high-quality stylish clothing items, shoes, accessories, cosmetics and personal hygiene items that best suit their style, size, and gender identity all set in a beautiful boutique-like back drop.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with ARITZIA, KEDS and NYC PRIDE, key supporters in our remarkable event.

International Transgender Day of Visibility 2021

On #TDOV we were honored to support our transgender and GNC family members at the Brooklyn GHOST Project’s annual Wig and Clothing drive. Demonstrating our love and support to TG/GNC lives enrich the LGBQ community and we must support them wholeheartedly. 

This was OMC’s fourth event supporting the Brooklyn GHOST Project.

This Spring OMC continues to construct our POP-UP Shops at NYC service sites and at host organizer’s venues. We created a curated selection of fine clothing, shoes and accessories. Additionally, OMC has been distributing fine toiletries to our clients… because THEY ARE WORTH IT!

OMC X LOFT

November is recognized as Trans Awareness Month, it comprises of Transgender awareness week and Transgender Day of Remembrance. During November, OMC collaborated with LOFT (Ann Taylor subsidiary) to conduct a large-scale POP-UP shop at Casa Ruby in Washington D.C., specifically supporting their Transgender women of color population.

The POP-UP was specialized and consisted mainly of women’s attire donated from Loft.

The event was successful due to the LOFT team spearheaded by Nicholas Kenyon, Manager at the DuPont Circle retail store.

“As a member of the LGBTQ community, I realize that community members' support is essential in helping underprivileged and under-resourced youth.  I have been a member of my community in Washington, D.C. for more than 20 years and programs like OMC are very relevant.

When I first came out, I had no mentorship and little understanding of my newfound persona. Lucky for me, I found fashion retail, which drove passion into building a career for myself. Clothing was a way to express myself and find the confidence I needed to be my best self.

The donations from OUT MY CLOSET lifts burdens off those youths looking to find their identity. Transgender people, because of limited programs, are often overlooked in our marginalized community. These reasons are why I believe in the importance of showing up, volunteering, and creating allies. Together, we can raise the spirits and voices of LGBTQ youth and help them build a vibrant tomorrow.”

During these unprecedented times, OMC managed to overcome its challenges and reach new heights. The virility and perseverance of our team members and volunteers is crucial in allowing us to reach new benchmarks, such as having exceeded 25K donated items and stretching the reach of our life saving work across the country. We are extremely grateful for all of you who have supported us financially, have donated resources and those who have upheld us in your thoughts and prayers. We share this new milestone with you.
