The thing about all this horribleness, is, it is SO EMBARRASSING.

(via $4.6 billion and 40,000 jobs lost—thanks to the artistry of our politicians. : r/clevercomebacks)

okay now I'm curious and I dunno if this is really such an archaic foreign thing to young people today or if I'm just out of touch
Please reblog, I'd love to see a lot of responses!

YOS!!!!

"Cuomo conceded defeat late Tuesday night and said he called to congratulate Mamdani." As my friend Bernie Sanders says, "They've got the money, but we've got the people." Congrats to @zohrankmamdani.

So....she wanted a job at a top company, and that means she deserved horrible, unacceptable treatment? And trying to change abusive and immoral practices in your workplace is "politicizing everything"? YIKES.

Finished reading Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams. I was a bit underwhelmed by this one. Like yeah, it's easy to say "Facebook bad" from the outside looking in and it's also easy to see from the inside too. But this woman caused her own problems. She pestered Facebook into hiring her and then tried to change the culture from the inside. Then she writes this book trying to spin the story that they took advantage of her, and sure they did, but she let them. (This is in regards to her bosses at Facebook taking advantage of her time as a worker, like making her work through difficult parts of her pregnancy and maternity leave - not about the sexual harassment, nobody deserves that). Maybe don't join a club that doesn't want you. She describes her fervor to be hired by Facebook as "evangelical" and it's like... yeah lady... I don't feel sorry for you. I also don't think Facebook is the good guys either, everyone in this story is a bad person. Mark Zuckerberg is a deeply lonely, deeply stupid man who thinks he can commodify the concept of friendship and he built a company around that idea, and then Sarah came in and tried to politicize everything. No winners here.
I finally felt like reading fiction again, so I resumed Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams. It predates Warrior cats and also predates the Cats musical, while making reference to TS Elliott's jellicle cat naming conventions.

If you're in NYC and you haven't voted yet I'm gonna need you to go tomorrow and rank Zohran Mamdani #1. Tomorrow is the last day for early voting and then you won't get a chance again until Tuesday. It's extremely important that we elect Zohran.
His platform centers the following:
Affordable housing
Freezing the rent
Fast and free busses
Department of Community safety
No cost childcare
City owned grocery stores
Taxing corporations and the wealthy to pay for all of this
Here is a direct link to the platform with more details.
DO NOT RANK CUOMO.
Andrew Cuomo is a rapist. He's a Zionist who is literally on Netanyahu's defense team against the ICC. And his primary interest is upholding the status quo. He's backed by billionaires and landlords. NYC cannot afford a mayor like this.
If you are registered to vote in NYC I'm begging you to do so. We have a real chance here

Democrats cannot win back working class voters by putting forth more corporate backed politicians. There's a better path forward. It's one paved by leaders like @zohrankmamdani who stand up to the oligarchy and fight to make life affordable for working people.

a shout out to the small baby child today who was demanding liberation from her stroller but who, when asked if she would stay close to mama and not run around acting crazy, paused for a moment to contemplate the question and then answered "prob'ly no"
it cost you your freedom, small child, but i admire your integrity and honesty 😔
