I had this thought at 3 am last night and I can’t stop thinking about.

You know how everyone says Steve could’ve survived jumping after Bucky when he fell from the train? What if he did but the TVA came and took that Steve (because he would be a variant) and reset everything because Bucky was always meant to become the winter soldier. 🤯

i really dont get pro endgame steggy shippers HOW is that romantic it’s literally the most generic boring white ass shit I’ve ever seen lmao you can replace peggy with anyone and the story would still function the same. theres nothing unique, absolutely nothing to steve or peggy in endgame that says “this is why out of everyone these 2 people belong together”. staring at a compass, thats literally it and nothing ties into the story WHY it’s important. sure it’s a reference to catfa but thats not enough to give it significance. you just dont get a sense of why that particular relationship was so important to steve, it operates SOLELY on heteronormativity lmao. do we ever get a mention of why peggy likes steve? where are the flashbacks to catfa at least? they could have done a steggy scene set during the war but shot from a different perspective so it reveals something new? ALSO if steve really felt that the past was that important why was there nothing about his old life, growing up in brooklyn, HIS MOM, missing his old neighborhood/his neighbors? or even dr. erskine? not even a throwaway “dr. erskine and peggy were the only ones who believed in me before i became captain america” (which isnt even true because sarah rogers and bucky exist……)

it’s really weird how people are all “steve deserves to live his life away from captain america title and be happy” BUT at the same time are blind to how endgame refuses to acknowledge literally anything about steve’s life beyond being cap. and also weirdly the movie does not want to callback to catfa beyond the compass. the narrative is afraid of acknowledging other things important to steve! I wonder why! instead of writing it like “this is why they belong together” it’s “peggy is THE ONLY ONE WHO MATTERS IN STEVE’S LIFE” if you’re going to assert this shit the literal least you could have done was write it well lmao. having him end up with peggy like that literally only emphasizes steve being captain america and peggy being “captain america’s girl”, it just reinforces hero worship/romanticization like CAPTAIN AMERICA IS FINALLY HOME FROM WORLD WAR II AND GOT MARRIED. tldr: instead of showing WHY steve and peggy are important to each other and why they work together, it’s literally just built on heteronormativity and bullshit
