This is probably a hot take but I don't think anybody actually cares who Batman is outside of the GCPD and conspiracy theorists.
When Batman first shows up he's a friggen poltergeist. He's a cryptid. For a second there maybe people thought he was just a creepypasta.
Then when people start to think… actually it kinda seems like he's a guy…? Like, he's a real…? Person…???
Then the GCPD is like, 'Okay, well, then he's breaking laws.'
But your average schmo is like, 'And? Yeah he's a guy; he gave me fifty bucks to get home last night. Right after he saved me from an acid piranha pit.'
But the thing is, Bats has his own personality. He's a whole person as the mask. People don't ask who Superman's secret identity is because, as far as they're concerned, Superman is just Superman, and when they can't see him, it's because he went home. It would be the same with Batman. They probably think he sleeps or hangs upside-down all day.
I think Gothamites like him as Just Batman; he's the city's pet monster, and they like it that way.
I think we get super caught up in the, "Batman's secret identity might be revealed! 😱" because Batman's secret identity is famous. But if someone unmasked Clark or Barry or Hal it would be like
"…I have no idea who this is."
And they expect the same of Batman.
GCPD wants to know so they can arrest him, conspiracy theorists want to know because they wanna know where he fits into the machine, gossip columnists want to know so they can get catch some drama, and real-person fanfic authors wanna know so they can accurately describe him when he takes his mask off to kiss Bruce Wayne.

Spin this wheel first and then this wheel second to generate the title of a YA fantasy novel!
(If the second wheel lands on an option ending with a plus sign, spin it again)

star stable plot nuts there is a man trying to trap an alien on earth so his hell-dimension doesn’t have to deal with it anymore, another guy gets arrested seconds after being fed to sharks, it’s kind of implied that one guy got wrongfully beheaded but it’s fine bc god…didn’t touch him…….and the playerbase is wholly unfazed like “watch this youtube video of me pretending to have a dressage lesson” it’s madness

Nothing like finding out how dire the Dutch warrior cats translating pace is for Dutch readers just because I was looking on wikipedia to see a specific release date
Main series books take about 6 years past English release to be published in Dutch. We just completed A Vision of Shadows last year.
Super editions seem to take between 7-9 years on average. We got Tigerheart's Shadow this april, and they're going at a rate of one super edition translation a year, having started in 2016 with Firestar's Quest. So at this rate, us Dutch readers will have Ivypool's Heart, as an example, in 2032.
In terms of biggest gaps, that title has to go to the graphic novels/"mangas" - we finally got all of Graystripe's Adventure (released all on the same date) last year after 16/17 years, and Tigerstar & Sasha this year, also after 16/17 years. We still don't have The Rise of Scourge. (if this rate continues, Dutch readers will get graphic novels like A Shadow in Riverclan, Wings of Change, etc, around 2040)
And I don't even know how they're deciding which novellas to translate and when! We have Redtail's Debt but not Hollyleaf's Story! We still don't have Mapleshade's Vengeance or Ravenpaw's Farewell! 7 years after they started to translate the novellas and we still only have 8 of them! Anything past Redtail's Debt? (Yes, that includes Tawnypelt's Clan and Shadowstar's Life) Forget it! (Outside of the novellas already mentioned above we're also still missing Pinestar's Choice and Thunderstar's Echo)
If you want a detailed list of English vs Dutch release dates you can find that here but just. Jfc it's rough out here for us Dutch readers

Listen the TikTok hg fans be pissing me off and as a black girl I’m not going to sit here arguing with y’all. Yes it is bad that Louella and Lou Lou are not poc in the movie. District 11 is based on the opression of African Americans, the songs that Rue and Lou Lou sing, the heavy policing, they have real implications surrounding our very real stories that Suzanne Collins used as insperation in creating district 11.
Panem is in future America it does not make sense for an entire district to be just one race, but throughout both Haymitch and Katniss’s narration they make it very clear that race plays a very important part in Panem. Now I’m not going to speak on seam characters cause I’m not Appalachian or native, but in regards to the black characters and District 11, to take black peoples opression and label it on the face of a white person is an INSANE thing to do. If Suzanne wanted to do this then she shouldn’t have made the entire basis of District 11 surrounding systemic black opression, it’s white washing end of story.
This is like me making a character experiencing oppression by a government inspired by modern day misoginy, then making a movie where they go through all of this but they’re a boy and it’s never implicitly or explicitly stated why.
No one is saying all of District 11 is black, anyone who’s read the books knows that’s not true (Seeder). What we’re saying is that if you are going to create a narrative inspired by our opression, LEAVE IT AS INSPERATION, don’t co-opt it into something else. Ppl are going to leave that theatre not understanding the real life systemic implications behind Lou Lou’s story, completely failing Suzanne’s whole point of writing when she has something to say.
“McCoy is an Irish last name.” Okay ??? If Suzanne wanted to explore Irish oppression she shouldn’t have solely intertwined African American struggles in district 11’s narrative, she dug her own grave there. There is a reason district 11 is PREDOMINANTLY black, it’s not just a place holder for diffrent oppressed people throughout time, that would be weird, these topics such as slavery or the historic oppressions of Irish people are not just interchangeable character backstories, they deserve to be handled with care. (Also bffr so many black ppl have white names cause they were litteraly forced upon us)
Tbh I won’t be mad at the casting if they remove all traces of district 11 from Lou Lou’s character, because ATP point I’m less mad at the casting and more mad at the fans who are complete disregarding people who are talking about why this is harmful. Really popular hg fans specifically on TikTok have not only not been having nuanced conversations about this casting but actively speaking out against people who are highlighting why this choice is so strange.
These are not Hedcanons about a characters height or hair colour, this is real erasure of important historical and political implications by an author that a fandom is choosing to ignore for reasons I honestly don’t know. I love the hunger games but the franchise can make mistakes it’s not the end of the world, you don’t have to bend backwards to justify it’s issues, just be willing to listen.
“So many poc children have become martyrs in the narrative” yeah cause that’s what happens in an oppressive regime. Innocent oppressed children die and no one cares. There’s no point in trying to sugarcoat it or white wash reality so it will fit the respectability politics of your fictional world. During rebellion, oppressed children are the first line of fire, they are the targets. IT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE REBELLION SO CHILDREN CAN LIVE IN PEACE. Again the film dug it’s own grave not adding more surviving poc characters, sanatizing the victims of an oppressive regime isn’t going to fix that. If their deaths don’t show this then that problem dosen’t reflect on presenting poc people as characters as victims of suffering, it means there’s something wrong with your narrative as a whole.
Oh and btw Louella could still be black and remind Haymitch of Katniss, like a white person and a black person can look alike even if they share a diffrent skin colour, the fact ppl don’t believe this is really really telling. Or she could just act like katniss, I’ll repeat the franchise can have issues it’s a mainstream Hollywood film for a mainstream Hollywood audience, and even if it wasn’t nothing is perfect mistakes happen, it’s what we take from them that counts, you don’t have to cover them up by justifying them.
The little girls are going to be great I’m sure, this will be amazing for their careers and I wish them nothing but the best …. at least they’re ginger/jk

lionsgate whitewashed haymitch for the sake of maintaining continuity. lionsgate also whitewashed loulou and louella breaking continuity. almost as if it was never about continuity at all. as an asian, the only character who is good at numbers in the hunger games series, and he's being played by an asian and that enrages me (specially because no one else even finds it a problem at all) — and yk they're not going to flesh out a character that died in maybe the first hour except for his oddsmaker thing (they barely even did that for the actual protagonists) — further playing into a stereotype. and still, they don't mind the outrage, and still they'll keep doing it. you know why? they know people are good at making noise, but most people will still go to see the movie and fill up their pockets, because boycotting requires caring more about the issue than their own wants.
but tell me how you'd never support the people in power like the capitol people did for your own entertainment.
edit: and the ones who are defending these casting choices actively? i dont even have words for you. stay tf away from my blog. this is not a safe space for you.

googling shit like "why do i feel bad after hanging out with my friends" and all of the answers are either "you need better friends" (i don't; my friends are wonderful) or "your social battery is drained, you need to rest and regain your energy levels" (i don't; i've got tons of energy, it's just manifesting as over-the-top neurotic mania). why is this even happening. it's like some stupid toll i have to pay as a punishment for enjoying myself too much
