“I feel Westerners make their biggest mistakes in this area. We tend to think what we see in the grimoires is the be-all and end-all of the magick. Follow the instructions, summon the spirit, give it instructions and send it on its way. I have come to call this the summon-command-banish formula. However, it is not enough to merely call a spirit or angel or saint and tell it what you need. It is necessary to ask the spirit what we need to do in order to obtain what we need. It is then we will be given instructions, offerings to make (and how to make them), rituals to perform and even mundane actions we should take.”

LOOK AT ALL THESE MUSHROOMS I FOUND (and the elusive Aminita!). I plan to go out tomorrow and find some more. There were some awesome ones on trees too, but.. they were on trees. I may just photograph those ‘cause there was this type that looked like bat ears and they jiggled when you poked them.

“People have long turned to ritual for comfort, release, and manifestation. Ritual helps us take back control, direct energy for change, and heighten or color in our experience of being alive. Put simply, ritual is something we do as well as a space we inhabit; in ritual we are connected to ourselves, our personal truths, and greater truths.”
From The Magical Writing Grimoire, by Lisa Marie Basile. Page 30.

It’s really thought-provoking to consider your foremothers, like the ones whose names we will never know, hundreds and hundreds and even thousands of years ago.
What did my great-to-the-nth-power grandmother enjoy doing in the 13th century? Maybe she enjoyed baking bread for her children and telling them stories her mother used to tell her.
Maybe my biblical times greeeeeeeaaaaat grandma liked to watch fishing boats.  My 200 AD foremother could have heard of the power of Rome and dreamt of moving there and starting a business.  My early hominid foremother could have liked picking wildflowers.
I know things weren’t fantastic for women in the early days of mankind, but there must have been moments of enjoyment and love and pleasure in being alive and I think to honor their lives (that got us here to this point in time) it’s important to remember that they were individuals who had unique personalities and not just generic ‘ancestors’.

One day, when I'm an old witch lady, I will have a big cupboard full of spices and herbs. And I will label a section: 'not for cooking', cuz idk how I'd explain acorns in my spice cabinet.

“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it’s a feather bed.”
— Terence McKenna

“The term “Psychomancy” (pronounced, “sy‑ko‑man‑see”), is derived from two Greek words, the first “psycho,” meaning “the soul; the mind; the understanding” (and generally used to indicate “psychic” or unusual powers of the soul or mind); the second word, “mancy” meaning “to divine; to foresee, or foreknow; to detect secret tbings,”—and in occult parlance, “to sense,” or “to receive impressions by the Astral Senses.” So the word, as we use it, may be said to mean “Psychic Sensing,” and in this work will be so used.”
