I won't lie. I love Taka being a judgemental little gremlin. From trying to confiscate Makoto's hoodie for being too stylish for a uniform, to being genuinely offended by Kazuichi's entire outfit, and saying as much to his face. I'm also obsessed with the fact that Taka had no issue with Sakura wearing the girl's uniform during the entire time he was under the mistaken impression that she was actually a boy...

The boy certainly contains multitudes.

This is the reason why I was possessed to work out some kinda way to use my graphics tablet even though I was unable to sit up at more than a 45° angle.

(I blame my brain fog for not working out CSP had a screentone function before I made my own. I did find the 'lace' brush so I count it as a win.)

one day taka is super late to class and he starts panicking and mondos like "TECHINICALLY IF YOU GET ON MY SHOULDERS AND I RUN IT'S NOT AGAINST THE RULES" so taka ends up riding ten minutes late into class gladiator style

(or alternative ending where mondo forgets to duck and taka hits his head on the doorway, thus missing the entire class to get stitches)

So guess what major life event I had to muddle through huh?

to top it off too, I've also had a bunch of OTHER major life changes all happening at once, including stuff with my job and flat- positive things! But not without their own share of stress

I'm doing alright, no need to worry about me, but as you can imagine any art plans kinda went straight out the window. I just had to get my head back on straight.

I'm back in the swing of things, excited about what's coming up, and have got some fun things in the works!

I don't think I'll ever let go of the head canon that Taka historically has a bad time during Valentine's, or April Fool's or. . . any time in middle school really- but it does mean that the bar is already so low, the only place Mondo can go from there is up! Plus a little positive reinforcement does wonders!

Been a whi~le since I've done a longer comic, and I'll be honest this one fought me the entire time!

Feels good to get back in the saddle tho' Getting some of that juice back!

I know that Tsumugi is obviously saddened here because of Danganronpa ending for good, but I just find it interesting that right before that, she says proudly that she should keep her head up high only to go out not looking very confident or proud. Also, just a small little observation here that I could be thinking too hard about, but the fact that Tsumugi says "right?" at the end of her sentence makes it seem like she's not entirely convinced herself.

Again, I could be overthinking things, but I can't help bringing that detail up. I'm still not fully convinced that Tsumugi was the ringleader from the very beginning, and has been controlled like the others allegedly have been. Maybe she was written to be the ringleader and that's part of her own character? Who knows 🤷‍♀️

Danganronpa's heart isn't the killing game it's the characters

I think a part of the DR games get pretty overlooked is the daily life sections like yeah sometimes it seems like you can skip over sections them and not lose any important information and V3 makes the FTEs unbearable but it's what gives Danganronpa games their charm and what separates DR games from other games similar to it.

The characters, their backstories their relationships.

And even though THH the animation probably brought in more viewers (because its much more easy and convenient to watch a ten episode anime than to play, or watch someone else play a 25 hour game) people who watched it would just get the surface level version of the story.

Trust me I watched the anime the first time around.

If you ask any Danganronpa fan whether they play for the plot, (the mystery-solving murders, executions, and trials) or the characters most would probably pick the latter and it's not a choice with no thought at all.

Each game has a wide array of characters with their personalities, backstories, quirks, interests, and traumas. With every game comes a new cast of characters to obsess over, and hope they don’t die.

The characters are what makes the game so special and unique, and I think the game wouldn’t have gotten as much popularity as it did in the past few years if there were a bunch of normal characters with nothing of note in a killing game.

That's why the daily life sections are so important-they give the characters a chance to breathe and interact without the pressure of a trial weighing upon them.

Without those moments the deaths, executions and trials wouldn't hit as hard.

Danganronpa thrives on its daily life sections and if they are skipped over or reduced they take away so much of what makes the game special.

The mystery is engaging sure, but it's the relationships personalities and tragedies of the cast that's what keep people coming back long after they've finished the games.

keebo wants to understand humans as much as possible, as well as get as close as possible to being one.. he wants to be viewed as The Ultimate Robot but also human.

in an attempt to understand humans better and grow closer to his goals, he turns to kaito momota !

kaito is unapologetically himself and he stands for what he believes in, all the while being kind and understanding, even if he can be pretty stubborn.. keebo looks up to him ! if there's anyone that can help him out, it would be kaito !

when keebo comes to kaito about this, the astronaut would quickly take him under his wing, calling him one of his new sidekicks ! he'd teach him all about what it means to not only be a man, but a human. he'd teach him about emotions, mental strength (we all know keebo can't be physically strong), how to stand up for himself, etc !

maybe he can finally come back at kokichi for all of those robophobic remarks !
