Little color practice

Been working on simpler ways to render and color lately. A vast majority of the time, I’ll be half way through a piece of art and never come back to it because I’ve over complicated it. So I’ve made it a goal to work through it and try to over simplify things instead.

Hey uh… you saw the new bendy April fools game? “Bendy and the Brine Barrel”. Tried to look on steam, it’s not there, but supposedly it was free. Regardless Super horror bro made a vid on it. It’s definitely… an experience. But hey we see a Bendy game in something else then yellow for once. But at what cost? Lmao. Hope you are doing alright!

Now, I have a nasty habit of working my under sketches into the final piece itself, so I do not have the under sketches for this one unfortunately.

I do this because it helps me with knowing where to shade later on by setting it to overlay and coloring/rendering over it.

But my undersketches usually look about like this

Hey! It’s been a while! Hope you are doing alright. I assume not having landed on a proper hight difference for the Ink demon yet…? (Cus yeah it’s a struggle for me as well, irl be wack and drawing go burr)

But if I were to come with a suggestion, maybe loop up “ink demon concept art” on your preferred search engine. And not only will you get good references in terms of proportions and scale without corridors on the way or something. BUT! You also get a comparison to how big Inky is compared to a human sized person~ HELL! Or even comes work examples of how big Inky is be he crouched or the rare event of standing upright!!! (Yeah and the crown of a humanoid character’s head only reaches the ink demons lowest ribs, but yeah still feel feee to look it up) And I assume the concept art is real accurate cus they literally made merch out of it on the bendy store (also a nice place for reference lol) even and the concept art is almost exact in comparison to the in game character model. So yeah! Go buck wild

If the Ink demon concept art wasn’t the most helpful- there’s always I suppose using the End Reel itself as a reference. Cus we see how big it is in comparison to Memory Joey (holds it against his side) and Beast bendy (Fits into Audery/ beast Bendy’s hands like a big coin or something)

Depends on what average hights you wanna apply to certain characters, be it Audrey the average hight of women her age as a young adult in the 70’s or maybe even memory Joey for instance (cus Wilson and Henry are both slouched rip; hard to measure)

Why wasn’t this thought of earlier? Idk I’m dumb. Hope some of my mad ramblings were helpful!

Thank you for this, I hadn’t ever even really realized that someone’s head would really only make it up to his ribs. I also really agree that the concept art should be pretty close, if not accurate to the sizes of the characters in game. Especially since it’s been shared with the fandom so willingly.

I feel like Audrey would be roughly average height. (Say maybe roughly 5’4 if this is true) So if the concept art is really correct, that should make him easily over 9 foot counting his horns. 9’5 maybe ish?

Either way, this is super fun, and I hope to do a life size sculpture of his head if I can find the time between work! Thank you for this, hope you’re doing well as well

I’ve been wanting to draw a couple parts out of the Bendy novels lately. Graphic novel included. (love it so much)

It’s such a fun way to read a slightly shorter/drawn version of DCTL

Update!! Happy late BATDR anniversary & Thanksgiving!!!

I’m actually pretty proud of/happy with this chapter. I did end up having to cut it in half compared to what my outline planned but it’s still about 7,000 words so I don’t feel too bad for doing that.
