An Ocean Away ~ Sebastian Sallow x Reader

A/N: Song fic oneshot from the (unofficial) Bridgerton musical "Ocean Away" with reader and Sebastian Sallow. This idea has been in my head since I've listened to this song and seeing as though I don't know how to make animatics, a fanfic is the next best thing lol. I know there's a bunch of bs going on with those who made the unofficial Bridgerton musical but I still love the songs so meh. This fanfic will have spoilers so don't be mad if you haven't finished the game.

~Reader POV~

It's finally here. The winter ball.

After the tragic events that took place last year, the Professors decided to host a ball to boost the students moral and help them forget about it a bit.

It'll be hard for me to forget. I still blame myself for Professor Fig's death.

Life's been hard since last year. My whole world was so full so quickly, only to have some of it ripped away from me just as fast.

Another person I've lost is Sebastian.

I managed to convince Ominis not to turn Sebastian in for the incident with his uncle. He wasn't happy about it, but I knew he didn't want to send his best friend away. No matter how strong his moral compass may be.

Though Sebastian stayed at Hogwarts, he started to drift away.

He didn't seem to want anything to do with Ominis and I no matter what we did to try to speak to him.

When summer finally came, we didn't hear from Sebastian at all.

We kept ourselves company with each other however.

Ominis and I became quite close during summer break.

The summer months flew by quickly. It was time to go back to school.

I was dreading it at first. The halls reminded me too much of all the hardships from the year prior.

My friends really helped me through everything. They were the perfect distraction when I started to fall into a slump.

When the Professors first announced the winter ball at the beginning of the school year, many students were excited.

Only 6th years and up were able to attend.

That was a few months ago. With it being the end of December, the ball was finally apon us.

Sebastian still hasn't spoken to Ominis or I. I see him less and less in class and in the halls.

Ominis and I decide to go to the ball together. Only as friends of course.

Ominis dorned his house colors, wearing a deep emerald green tux with a velvety texture. He looked quite dashing.

We decided to match our outfits. I enlisted the help of Natty and Poppy to find the perfect dress to wear.

My dress was also a deep emerald green to match Ominis. He even gifted me a snake necklace to wear.

"It will help us match more." He insisted.

It doesn't feel very wintery to me but I don't mind that much.

The dress itself was sleek like silk. It hugged my body in the right places and left room where need be. The back of the dress was open quite low. The dress also had a slight train to it. Little gold flecks could be found in the dresses fabric, causing it to sparkle when I moved. It was gorgeous.

The girls and I get ready and meet up at the top of the stairs.

I smile when I see Ominis and call out to him to get his attention.

"Hey! Ominis!" I shout over the crowd of people waiting for the Great Hall doors to open.

"Hello (Y/N)," He smiles back at me.

I lowly whistled when I looked Ominis over.

"Looking good, Gaunt." I smirk.

He rolled his eyes with a grin of his own before gesturing to me. "I'm sure you look amazing as well."

I laugh a bit and chat with him and the others as we wait for the doors to open.

All chatter soon ceases as the creaking of the large doors could be heard.

The students start steadily filing into the now decorated Great Hall.

Gone were the long tables and benches. It was a totally different room.

The usual floating candles were now dazzling chandeliers. There was a beautiful black marble dance floor in the middle of the room. Flanking it on the left and right are circle tables with white table cloths and sparkling snow globes as center pieces. Where the podium usually is at the front of the room, there is a band surrounded by instruments. Behind the makeshift stage, there are long tables set up with food and drinks set up. In the corners of the room, there are pine trees dusted with light snow. Last but not least, the ceiling was enchanted to snow. Soft small snowflakes drift towards the ground, melting before it hits the floor.

I am awestruck at the beautiful scenery in front of me.

Smiling, I turn to Ominis and excitedly describe the room around us. Ominis softly smiles at my enthusiastic description.

We make our way to one of the tables and I ask Ominis if he'd like anything to snack on or to eat. He politely nods his head and I make my way to the snack and drink table.

As I'm waiting for my turn to get Ominis and I something, I can't help but take a moment to appreciate the decor and hardwork the Professors put in to give us a memorable night.

My mind drifts to the events of last year. Surprisingly I only think of the good times. Which leads me to once again think of Sebastian.

"I wonder how he is doing..." I feel my face drop into a frown at the thought before I take a deep breath and focus on the now.

Finally getting to my turn for ordurves and refreshment, I stop as I go to grab two butterbeers for Ominis and I.

I smile lightly as I remember my first butterbeer. Sebastian and I had just finished defeating a troll in Hogsmead and were treated to complimentary butterbeer.

Other than Rookwood interrupting us, the rest of the time we chatted and got to know eachother more. The first leap towards our friendship.

I realize I'm slightly holding up the line so I quickly grab our butterbeers and some pumpkin pasties and head back to Ominis.

When I get there, I notice our friends have also seated themselves around Ominis.

We chat for a while before Ominis stands.

"Everything okay Ominis?" I question.

He holds his hand out before responding, "It wouldn't be much of a ball if we didn't dance. Care to join me?"

I smile widely and jump up and grab his hand, rushing towards the dance floor.

As we take our stances, I think I see a glimpse of Sebastian behind him.

Not wanting to worry Ominis, I keep it to myself for now.

The music starts and I try to keep my eyes away from where I saw Sebastian as we start our waltz.

"Why is he here? He can't speak to us yet he decides to come to a ball?" I angrily think to myself.

I quickly sneak another glance at Sebastian. His face is emotionless, not even glancing in our direction. My eyebrows furrow at that.

The music picks up the pace as we move our feet quicker. It feels as though the music is in tune with my emotions. Or vice versa.

My anger starts to swell. After all this time holding it in, it's starting to spill out.

"I did so much for him. What do I get in return? Ignored! Not to mention I let go that he called me ignorant and never even apologize. Maybe he didn't apologize because he truly thinks I am ignorant. Ugh!" I let out a loud sigh as my thoughts keep racing.

Ominis starts to sense how off I was.

He dips me out of nowhere.

I gasp and look at him with wide eyes.

"You seemed a tad distracted." Ominis grinned.

It takes me a moment of shock before I start laughing.

He lifts me back up and we continue dancing.

"I was. I'm okay now though. Thank you." I genuinely smile at him.

I'm not going to let Sebastian ruin my night.

~Sebastian POV~

I grumble to myself as I make my way down the stairs towards the Great Hall.

I don't know why I even decided to come to this ball. I don't have time for this while trying to search for a cure for Anne.

Ominis had sent me an owl. He told me (Y/N) and him were going and would like to see me go as well.

I battled with this idea for a while, hence why I'm a hour later to this thing than everyone else.

Fiddling with my tie, I glance down at my outfit once more. I'm wearing a dark green vest with a green tie under a black suit jacket.

I sigh before finally waltzing into the ball.

As I enter, the musicians start playing their instruments.

People start getting up from the circular tables and making their way to the dance floor.

I see Ominis immediately. His light hair being an easy target.

I frown down at my old clothes after admiring Ominis's velvet tux.

My frown drops as does my jaw once I see (Y/N). She looks exquisite.

Clearing my throat, I pull myself together. At that moment, I think our eyes meet.

It's only a fleeting moment before she quickly looks away around the room.

I lean against the far wall and try not to stare at the two.

People all around me are coupled up and flirting. I roll my eyes at that.

Turning my attention back to my two old friends, my eyebrows furrow.

They're laughing. Having the time of their lives while I'm sulking against a wall.

I sigh and make my way to the refreshment table.

Going to grab a butterbeer, I stopped and smiled. I remember the day (Y/N) told me she had never had a butterbeer. It was after we defeated a troll in Hogsmead. We talked for hours that day, just getting to know eachother.

My smile drops as I remember the rest of the events from last year. We both went through hell. And I had to drag her into mine when she had her own to go through.

I down the drink and make my way to the back of the room once again.

I see some suspicious looking students off to the side, laughing to themselves before pulling out their wands and raising it to the ceiling.

My eyes widen and I quickly make my way towards them. I'm too late however as they already shot a spell from their wands.

I glare at them before they dart out of the room, still cackling.

As I look up at the ceiling, I notice the snow stop falling and clouds start to swirl.

~(Y/N) POV~

Ominis and I are still laughing and dancing before a loud boom rings above us.

I quickly look up and notice the ceiling now swirling with clouds.

"(Y/N)? What's happening?" Ominis questions as he starts to pull his wand out.

I turn to the doors and notice a couple students peeking around the frame laughing.

I sigh, "It looks like a couple of our peers didn't think tonight was entertaining tonight. It looks like they tampered with the ceiling enchantment."

Ominis nods in understanding. He does continue pulling out his wand though.

"Maybe we should get to the side then. Who knows what they did." He activates his wand to help him find his way back to our table.

I hum in agreement and start to follow him before another loud boom of thunder is heard.

As I look up once again, it starts pouring.

I gasp as I'm quickly drenched with rain.

All the other students start shrieking and running out of the Great Hall, not wanting to ruin their expensive outfits more than they already are.

I start to make my way with the students before I stop in my tracks.

Taking a deep breath, I hold my arms out and smile up at the ceiling.

"This is what I needed." I think to myself.

Spinning in circles, I start laughing with pure glee.

~Sebastian POV~

I start to make my way towards Ominis and (Y/N) after the two students run out of the room.

I'm about 10 feet away as it starts to pour.

Ominis quickly makes his way out of the Great Hall. (Y/N) starts to follow after him and the rest of the students before she stops and smiles.

I raise an eyebrow at her peculiar behavior.

I walk up to her and grab her hand, stopping her from spinning.

"What are you doing? You're going to make yourself sick." I state and slowly remove my hand from hers.

I know I'm in trouble when her smile drops and she glares at me.

"Oh. Finally decided to speak to me?" She crosses her arms in anger.

I sigh and push my hair out of my face from the rain.

"Can we not do this now?" I plead.

She raises her brows and tilts her head slightly.

"Then when are we going to do this Sallow? Last I checked, Ominis and I weren't good enough for you to speak to." She spits at me.

The use of Sallow instead of Sebastian hurts more than I was expecting.

I cast my head down in thought before meeting her eyes once again.

"I...I'm sorry." I try.

She deadpans and raises an eyebrow as if to say 'is that all you got?'.

I take a deep breath and try again.

"I shouldn't have shut you out. Either of you. After last year I...I didn't want to drag you guys into anything else you'd regret. I hate that I brought you both into my idiocy last year. I'm not giving up on Anne and I'm willing to do anything I can to save her." I explain with a frown.

I hang my head at her lack of response.

Suddenly a hand is reaching out towards me.

I look up at the girl in front of me in confusion.

My confusion is doubled when I see the bright smile spread across her face.

"I've always been there for you Sebastian. I will continue to be there for you. Instead of pushing us away to keep us safe, let us make that decision ourselves." She earnestly says.

My eyes start to tear up and a smile starts to spread on my face.

"Now are you going to dance with me or not?" She smirks.

I laugh and grab her hand, pulling her towards me.

"I would love to." I whisper.

We start to dance slowly, our eyes not leaving each other.

The band, seeing us continuing our dance, started playing their instruments once again.

Some students rush back onto the dancefloor and continue to dance in the rain whilst laughing all around us.

"I've really missed you." I confess, brushing a wet strand of hair out of her face.

She softly smiles and rests her head on my chest.

"I've missed you too." She replies.

Resting my head on top of hers, we continue to sway, music and laughter all around us.

Best winter ball ever.

Voltron season 8 trailer

Let’s talk about Lance’s parts of this trailer. his voice over is from two different moments.

This isn’t a participation game. This is war. All you can do is get up and try to make it right.

The first part is from the bedroom scene between Lance and Keith when Lance thinks they should step aside, and of course Keith says leave the math to Pidge.

The last part is a moment between Lance and Allura, she is sad and angry about the whole Lotor situation.

I find it interesting that they used these parts for his voice over. why exactly did they pick a moment with Keith and a moment with Allura? Allura’s moment is more sad, and Keith’s is more “happy” like it’s about Lance being insecure and Keith comforting Lance and it ends on a happy node. when Lance and Allura’s is more sad and gets interrupted by Keith.

Then we have this moment, I don’t know what to think. some of my ideas are

1. it’s the end of Allura

2. it’s Lance and Allura’s goodbye

3. it’s a date between Lance and Allura (I really don’t want it to be this one)

If this really is Lance and Allura as endgame then why show us this moment in the trailer? that would be weird so I hope there is a twist to it (hopefully that he actually chooses Keith)

i've had this feeling of optimistic skepticism for awhile now, so i was just wondering how your feelings are on the endgames, but then also your thoughts about how the show will end as a whole. Personally i think the show will end fine objectively, i've just been sitting on pins and needles TT_TT

holy shit, this is possibly the broadest question i’ve ever gotten my friend…and if i go all-out with my answer it’ll take me about 8 years to answer you. soooo i’m gonna just throw some of my s8 opinions out there, and if you still wanna talk, don’t be afraid to dm me and we can chat as much as you want :)

so season 8. things that need to be resolved: 

Lance’s romance arc:

he wanted Allura for 6 seasons, but tried to get over her in s7 after being brutally rejected

he ended up focused on Keith instead, and even chose him in the game show over Allura and his own best friend

Allura suddenly returned his feelings (s7e10)? hence Lance’s confusion at the end of s7 (being unable to connect with Red directly after)

despite consistently choosing Keith, Lance is confused & doesn’t realize he likes boys

Lance might have a talk with Shiro, hopefully about sexuality…but it’s probably gonna be more vague than that

Keith’s acceptance arc

he has found maternal love and platonic love through Krolia and Shiro, only romantic love is left

has accepted that the team needs him, and finally has a family of his own, he even got a magical doggo

told both Shiro and Krolia he loves them, and he knows they love him back

only person he still hasn’t resolved things with is Lance, he needs to  tell Lance he loves him, and Lance needs to say it back

pining tension between K and L

Keith has been pining for Lance since s1…and he is definitely in love with him now as of s3, i think Lance loves him back too, but just doesn’t recognize the feelings as romantic

Keith left for the Blade to “protect the person he most loves” but didn’t realize it until Krolia used that phrase when referring to her own actions

Keith returned and brought back his co-leader dynamic with Lance, but is trying to hide his romantic feelings that were so obvious in the first few seasons 

he knows about Lance’s feelings for Allura & thinks they’re romantically involved, and doesn’t want to get in the way

Lance, on the other hand, only started catching onto his feelings for Keith when he returned in s6…but he hasn’t quite made the connection that the feelings are romantic yet

Lance thinks Keith ran away from him/doesn’t care about him/would run away again, etc…when in fact Keith cares about Lance so frickin much…and Lance cares for him back now

they need to work this out. they are the show’s big romantic endgame.

Allura’s leadership arc

Allura isn’t the true leader of Voltron, that’s Keith (and Lance)

she can’t reach her full potential as blue paladin, her arc needs to end with her in a different position of power

there’s a whole colony of Alteans…will she become their leader? start a new era of peace? 

it would frankly make no sense for Allura to stay a Voltron paladin, she should be the leader of the Alteans, or maybe even the Atlas?

where did the Altean colony go?

Kolivan mentioned in s7 that he sent some Blade members to Keith’s coordinates…but there was nothing there

what happened? i think Haggar/Honerva found the colony, based on the s8 poster, and has convinced the Alteans there to support her as their leader

Haggar is plotting something with the Alteans, probably involving the robot we saw that the end of s7

in terms of the show’s plot, s8 needs to revolve around the Alteans and Haggar (and possibly Lotor)

what happened to Lotor?

he is definitely not dead, and has unresolved tension with Allura that we saw hinted at in the s8 teaser

is possibly? not evil and will end up on their side by the end of s8

alternately, he could be helping Haggar and the Alteans and be evil at the end of the series

who knows tbh he’s hella complex, but his arc is not done either and he will have some role in s8

Lance’s broadsword

is it going to come back?

Keith and Lance are now the only two paladins with swords, so i’m sensing some sort of fight between them, like the one between Alfor and Zarkon in s3e7…except keith isn’t evil, only possessed

i do think that Keith will be possessed by Haggar in s8 and Lance will be the one who has to fight him, sword or not

Keith’s mysterious powers with energy

he sensed the Blue Lion wayyyyyy back in s1 and these powers haven’t gone away

since then he has done some crazy shit in terms of quintessence and appears to be able to absorb/sense energy

Haggar is aware of this, hence Macidus’s comment about Haggar banishing the druids because of Keith’s “treachery”

what treachery? this HAS GOT to do with his weird powers

i think Haggar is gonna target Keith because of them in s8 and not Allura. or both of them, who knows

this is probably gonna involve stuff with the quintessence field too

Romelle’s true identity

pretty sure something’s up with Romelle, is she really who she says she is? 

Romelle could be telling the truth, but even if she isn’t evil, i do believe she’s gonna be possessed by Haggar at some point…

either way she will definitely have a mini arc in s8

okay. those are pretty much all of my thoughts related to s8…well, a “brief” summary of them…or the ones i could remember, that is. xD

as @kalinspace and i predicted, yes there is a Lance/Allura shot in the trailer, and as we said before, canon a//urance DOES NOT MEAN endgame a//urance. as we also said, the absense of klance in the trailer is a good thing, they can’t spoil the endgame romance in the trailer for gods sake xD and anyways, it didn’t hint at much aside for the usual action and angst lmao, it’s just a trailer ✌️

edit: the trailer is a minute, the entire season is 5 hours. it can’t predict that much of the plot, if anything at all. breathe, my friends.

Lance’s Memory

okay first off i need to credit @lancesman​ for something they briefly mentioned in this post that got me thinking.

Lance canonically has a terrible memory. that’s a fact. he’s bad at remembering names, and writes notes on his hands to help him remember. this is mentioned on his page in the handbook:

…and in the actual show. he brings it up as advice for Allura during a coalition meeting in the first episode of season 5.

and Allura does not approve. lol.

but anyway, they make a point to show how Lance does NOT have a great memory.

specifically, he isn’t good at remembering names.

in fact, they have a whole section of the game show episode about Lance not being able to remember names. Josh, Shiro’s VA, has said that the feud episode holds a lot of foreshadowing, and it’s a general fact that all of the filler episodes contain many references to things that have already happened/will happen in the future. so i believe that everything they referenced in there was for a reason.

here, i’m just going to get into the characters whose names Lance is forced to recall. the people Lance remembers says a lot about him. since he usually can’t remember names, the ones he does must have held some significance to him. i’m probably wrong about a lot of this, but whatever, this is just for fun.

first, the spinner thingy almost lands on Kolivan, but finally stops on Antok. for each round, we see one person Lance can remember, and one person he can’t. Here, he knows who Kolivan is, but not Antok. to be fair, Antok, is pretty obscure, i don’t know why Lance would have remembered him, since they had no personal moments together. Kolivan, on the other hand, was a major leader, and they saw him often. i think this mostly serves for us to remember the BOM (Keith also drew his blade in pictation).

the next two people Lance saw were love interests and their accomplices.

Lance is unable to remember Swirn, who he spent lots of time with. he spent just as much time with Swirn as he did with Plaxum, and yet he only remembered Plaxum. as we know, Plaxum kissed Lance on his helmet after he saved the mermaid village with Hunk. so Lance is able to recall the mermaid he was a bit attracted to, but not the other one, who he spent just as much time with.

next,

Nyma, he recognizes, but he doesn’t know who Rolo is. again, he remembered the love interest (despite being rejected pretty brutally) and not Rolo, who was literally working with Nyma and being there the whole time. the whole team remembers this one, but Lance doesn’t.

Lance remembers the aliens he crushed on, but not the other people they worked with.

the final name he recognizes, because they ran into him many times, performing alongside him during the Voltron show.

i mean, it’s pretty hard to forget Bii-Boh-Bi.

but right before this, it almost landed on Ryner.

Lance panicked, he couldn’t remember her. i’d argued that they’ve worked with Ryner and the Olkari just as much as they have with the BOM and Kolivan, yet Lance remembered Kolivan and not Ryner.

what does this show? i’m not quite sure, but i’d like to think it’s because Lance can’t let go of the BOM. Keith ran away to be with them, and although Lance didn’t know why he cared so much when Keith left, Lance has obviously thought about the BOM quite a lot, since he remembers Kolivan so much. in the coalition handbook, Lance even wrote down how much he admires Kolivan, which i thought was interesting. (but honestly, i don’t really know what’s up with this, it’s just good to note.)

anyway, this game reminds us of the characters Lance flirted with in the past, and the fact that he can’t remember names unless he has a strong connection to them. two categories specifically:

1. leaders he likes (Kolivan/Bii-Boh-Bi)

2. love interests

i think these two categories explain the names Lance is able to recall in the game show, and if i’m right, it also explains the two other people he remembered too.

in season 1, he remembers Shiro, a leader figure and personal hero. this fits into the first category. Shiro is Lance’s hero, and he had a strong connection to him.

but there’s one other person in the show Lance remembers. i bet you know where i’m going with this, but:

yeah, Keith.

Lance remembers Keith, despite his terrible memory, and the fact that he can’t usually remember names (not even getting into the fact that it’s dark out and they’re on the top of a cliff and can’t really see Keith’s face and he hadn’t seen him for around a year).

so is Keith someone Lance looks up to, or a love interest? i think both. Lance wants to be like Keith, he modeled his DnD character after him, and always tries to be as good as him. but i think they’re also a bit of attraction there, Lance just didn’t realize it. there’s no way Lance would have immediately recalled Keith, unless Lance had studied his appearance for a significant amount of time before. and why would Lance have looked at Keith so much? he looked up to Keith, wanted to be like him, was jealous, etc.

so yeah. i think it shows a lot how quickly Lance remembers Keith in the first episode. they make a point to emphasize Lance having a bad memory, especially with names, they even chose to make a whole segment of the feud episode about it, and yet he remembers Keith right away, with no hesitation.

KEITH LEFT THE TEAM RIGHT AFTER LANCE WENT INTO HIS BEDROOM AND TOLD HIM HE WAS GOING TO LEAVE THE TEAM, THEN THERE WAS A FILLER EPISODE, AND THEN KEITH STARTED TO PULL AWAY FROM THE TEAM.

VLD Theory: Lotura Endgame and Acxa’s Betrayal

There have been a few notes asking how Acxa and Allura fit into the theories I’ve been sharing. As I mentioned before, I think we’ve been seeing Lance’s Bi Arc all series, which will eventually lead us to a Klance Fight that will ultimately lead to two of them getting together.

So, what about Allura and Acxa?

As mentioned before, I think starting in S8 Lance and Allura are an item, if not fully together. In S7’s finale, we see the card and flowers from Lance on Allura’s bed stand and the two of them working together to clean up Earth. Based on the time montage, it’s been months and the Earth is rebuilding around humans and aliens.

We also have the scene where Acxa comes up behind Keith, Krolia, and Kosmo at Keith’s dad’s grave. This scene always struck me as odd because of how they framed it, and this theory finally helped me click it into place.

It’s the exact same set-up from S4 where Pidge was at Matt’s grave when the bounty hunter was following her and eventually attacked her and Matt.

Unlike Lance and Allura, Keith and Acxa’s entire vibe feels off if they were being set up as a true romantic pairing. Not only does Keith show very little romantic interest in Acxa.

But throughout the series we’ve seen a direct mirroring in their characters.

It led to a lot of speculation that perhaps Acxa and Keith were somehow related. However, I think the connection is more about the types of characters they are. Keith is very loyal to Shiro, just as Axca is extremely loyal to Lotor.

In the meta I wrote about Lotor and Acxa’s partnership, the number one thing that Lotor values most is loyalty and there is no one that Lotor trusts more than Acxa. 

Even before the time skip, after Lotor jettisoned Ezor and Zethrid from their ships, he hesitates before doing it to Acxa. However, her wanting to sever ties with him during his descent into madness is enough for him to pull the trigger, and lastly, she too is ejected.

That’s the last we see of Acxa before the time skip in S7. After she helps the paladins escape and defeat Ezor and Zethrid, Acxa tells them that they’ve been gone for 3 years and in that time there’s been a power vacuum since Lotor disappeared during their fight.

She also makes a point to say that Lotor wasn’t the man she thought he was, even though before their last battle it was revealed that she was working with Lotor after pretending to “betray” him only for her to turn on Honerva the second Lotor gave her the signal. 

So why change sides now? Why was she lead directly to Keith - to the point that she was able to find out that Keith and the other Paladins were all being held captive on Ezor and Zethrid’s ship fairly quickly even though they were missing for 3 Years? 

And the answer is simple, because she was looking for Keith. She was tracking him.

Keith is the only Half-Human/Galra being in the entire universe, and with that comes an uncanny sensitivity to Quintessence. It allowed him to access the Astral Plane to speak with Shiro’s spirit and use this connection to unlock the Black Lion’s wings so he could reach the rest of the team during their battle with Lotor.

The Pure Quintessence that the Blades were tracking led Keith and Krolia directly to Romelle’s Colony. As we learned in S7, the Altean Colony that Keith and Krolia discovered was abandoned when Kolivan and the other Blades arrived. 

And S7 ends with the cliffhanger that Robeast Voltron fought on Earth were powered by actual Alteans. Who is the only person with the alchemy skill to develop something like that?

Honerva, who hasn’t been seen in years and has been sending her Druids to do her dirty work, including hunting the Blade of Marmora, and most likely looking for Keith while also wiping out her enemies. She’s already seen what she could do with a human-like Shiro with his clone and robotic arm. For someone like Honerva, who is addicted to knowledge about quintessence, Keith is the ultimate experiment. 

Season 8, we’ll see Honerva finally get her hands on Keith for her experiments. For that to happen, he’ll have to be brought to her in some way. The Alteans being harvested is a huge story that involves the entire cast, but it’ll also bring in Acxa as she’s currently hanging around Keith. 

Even if Keith is not romantically interested in Acxa, she’s still the perfect honeypot to lure Keith right into Honerva’s hands. Acxa is not foolish, and she’s fine with playing the long game if needed - like she did when she pretended to betray Lotor only to align herself with Zarkon so she could have her ears on the ground while Lotor was with the paladins. She’s faced off against Voltron enough times to know that if she brought Keith kicking and screaming to Honerva, she’d have Voltron, half of Earth and the Blade after her. And, to be frank, she’d probably rather they blast Honerva than her.

This leaves us with the next question, why would Acxa work with Honerva at all to bring her Keith? The answer is simple: Honerva has Lotor.

Acxa tells the team that Voltron exited the rift alone before the castle exploded and shifted time around them. In that time, a ship from the Galra fleet came looking for Lotor’s last known whereabouts. 

We’re lead to believe that Acxa, Ezor, and Zethrid took over this ship and eventually went their separate ways, as Ezor and Zethrid coupled up and become Warlords while Acxa found her own path.

With Ezor and Zethrid dead, there’s no one to corroborate Acxa’s story, but as we’ve already determined she’s an unreliable narrator. She doesn’t specify how she spent her time during those 3 years - she doesn’t mention rebels or being a mercenary - she simply said she was on her own. 

It’s because during that time she working with Honerva to hunt down Keith in exchange for Lotor who Honerva saved from the Quintessence Feld. Simply put, it’s a prisoner exchange. And even though Lotor shot her into space, Acxa’s loyal to his cause because Lotor was always after way more than power or Quintessence.

Lotor has been trying to save the galaxy because the way his father had been mining Quintessence for 10,000 years by destroying planets is unstable.  It’s the same problem Lotor told Allura about when they were on Oriande.

It’s the same warning that Alfor gave to Zarkon and Honerva when they were overextracting Quintessence which opened the Rift on Daibazaal. Lotor has studied both Alfor and Honerva’s research for thousands of years, he knows the true crisis that is about to unfold across the universe.

That’s why he was so desperate to have the Sincline Ships be able to collect the Quintessence from the field, it’s why he was trying to protect the refugee Alteans from Hagger because he knew their connection to Quintessence would be harvested. There’s a Quintessence crisis looming and Honerva is making it worse.

It’s what he was trying to explain to Allura but once Romelle accused him of murdering the Alteans from his colony. Specifically referring to Bandor’s line after his ship crashed through the dome. The one thing he manages to tell Romelle is: “Lotor… the other colony… It’s all a lie.” Which tells us exactly nothing, but is the evidence that convinces Romelle she is correct to distrust Lotor, and then pass that same distrust to Allura.

While it’s still unclear exactly what Lotor was doing with the emaciated Alteans, he never openly admits to being the one who did that to them and when Allura demands he tell her how many Alteans were killed, Lotor pauses and very carefully picks his next words.

We’ll find out the true nature of the second Colony in this final season, and with that Lotor’s true intention to help undo the harm his people had done on the universe by draining it on its most precious resource.

Being Lotor’s right-hand person means that unlike Ezor and Zethrid, Acxa was most likely the only other person who knew Lotor’s true plan. It’s why she was able to holistically have his back and understand why he needed the help of Allura to unlock the secrets of Oriande so he could gain the knowledge to help access the rift. It’s also why she’ll work with Honerva to hunt down Keith, someone who she has grown to respect because she knows the fate of the universe is at hand. It’s the mission before anything, or anyone else. Without Lotor, she can’t stop this far greater danger. 

If the fabric of their reality rips due to the excessive Quintessence mining, that paves the way for the Rift Creatures to spill through their realities, as well.  Those creatures could be the awful thing that Matt Holt found in that Galra cell.

Because the entire universe is about the suffer the same fate as Daibazaal and only Lotor know how to stop it.

Once Acxa brings Keith to Honerva, there’s likely going to be the similar set-up where Honerva keeps both Keith and Lotor and Acxa is forced to flee and go back to Team Voltron on Earth and tell them everything. It’s then that Allura learns about Lotor’s true intent and Lance will learn that Keith is in danger.

This is where the Lotura and Klance storylines will break off.

Remember the lion scene where Allura tells Lance to go because the Red Lion is calling him and in that same scene the Blue Lion called for Allura? Similarly, Lance and Allura will go to where their hearts truly lie - Lance to Keith, and Allura to Lotor.

As mentioned before, Keith and Lance are long overdue for their Rival Fight, and if Honerva is able to corrupt Keith’s Quintessence, then it’s most likely going to be in the Astral Plane. And the end of this fight will most likely end with some sort of confession.

Meanwhile, Allura will square off against Honerva, about the Quintessence harvesing and slo to save Lotor now that she’s learned that she was wrong about his intentions. We already know that Lotor’s feelings for her were true, as we watched his heart break for her before their final fight.

And Allura’s are as well since it took a lot for the team to convince Allura to leave Lotor behind in the Quintessence field.

Because Allura and Lotor, despite the odds and what either of them first intended to do when they first met, fell in love with each other.

And it’s together that they’ll save the universe and eventually lead it to a new era of peace and sustainable Quintessence.
