i accidentally acquired her and now i have a mini existential crisis. help

someone needs to draw this picture as herta with ruan mei and polka kakamond cause that's the dynamic i have of them in my brain. maybe with the sword as polka's scalpel (kill that butterfly)

like. polka (the su entity, who's later implied to be the real deal after investigating the message she left) wanted to kill herta bc she's another genius who almost breached the circle of knowledge. herta recognizes the danger, she escapes because she doesn't want to die — yet she finds herself wanting to see polka again. and there's mutual respect between the two of them.

meanwhile, ruan mei is one of the few people herta genuinely cares about & vice versa. she makes sweets for herta, herta lets her do crazy experiments in the space station. and although ruan mei wants nothing to do with polka, she still cares about herta's safety and risks getting "killed" in the unknowable domain by offering her help.

some people theorize that polka will try to kill either ruan mei or herta (again), ruan mei bc her research into the aeons might lead to her becoming one herself, herta bc of her drive to push past the limits. it's even more interesting when you consider the reason why so many geniuses are reclusive and refuse to work with each other — their collaborations might draw the attention of polka, who will kill them. herta working with three other geniuses for the simulated universe is a rare feat, and the more research discoveries they make, the higher the chance of getting targeted by polka.
