Goodness… That explained why his father had likely sent this lawyer. The sheer confidence he exuded was rather shocking. Though he wasn’t sure how well he would be able to help him with how most people viewed him and his family. It was the entire reason he happened to be there after all. It was even more concerning to hear that murders were normally what he handled as well and he shivered as he fidgeted with his armband.

“E-eh… T-that… T-that is good to h-hear… A-ah… I-I… I-I won’t be much help I’m afraid… I-I can’t remember too much about what h-happened…”

“O-oh, that’s alright! Don’t worry about it, everything’s gonna be fine!”

...So I’m starting off with nothing, huh?

Apollo instinctively shuffles through the papers again. The case seems pretty simple... He doesn’t have the autopsy report yet (gotta do some ‘negotiating’ with the lead detective, most likely), but the basic info makes things pretty clear. Weirdly clear. Apollo doesn’t think he’s ever seen a case that seemed so in favor of the defense.

It’s in the Wright Anything Agency’s creed to always believe in their client’s innocence, but... how could anyone think this guy did kill someone? I can hardly imagine him hurting a fly... Much less committing murder.

“So... do you know why you were arrested? It almost seems like it was just by chance, which is... weird, to say the least.”

As the other walked inside Ishimaru merely nodded at his words, hugging his legs close to his chest as he quivered. The entire ordeal was quite straining on his nerves and he had had to fight off an episode earlier. Seeing someone else there was somewhat reassuring however and he blinked in some surprise at how awkward the lawyer was being with him of all people. He sincerely hoped that he would be able to help him.

“Y-yes… I-it is a pleasure to make your a-acquaintance Justice-san… I-I… I-I wish it were under better c-circumstances though… E-eh… I-I… I-I did request a l-lawyer…”

Apollo notices the other man’s anxiety, and his worries seem to disappear. Anxious clients always warrant the biggest smiles, as his mentor often said. 

“It’s nice to meet you too! Don’t worry, no matter what happens, I’ll find the truth!” He grins, trying to exude a confidence he didn’t quite have. In truth, he doesn’t know much about this case yet at all...

He takes another glance at his papers. “So, a murder, huh? The usual, then...” Hm? Ishimaru... Have I heard that surname before somewhere? He squints, but writes it off- probably not relevant to the case, anyway. 

“This report isn’t that detailed... Guess I’ve got my investigating cut out for me.”

He’s about to ask for more information about the incident, but he hesitates. This guy’s already so uncomfortable, is it really a good idea to talk about it in more detail already?

Apollo walks into the detention center awkwardly, a little uncomfortable without Phoenix, Athena, or even Trucy here to assist him. He makes eye contact for a moment, looks down, shuffles around some papers in his hands, and looks back up. Greetings? Who says ‘greetings’ these days?

“U-uh, hello! So, you’re my client, right? Er, ‘Kiyotaka Ishimaru’?” He checks his papers again. “Oh! I’m Apollo Justice, by the way! Here to help however I can! If you... are my client, of course. Haha.”

How had this happened? He’d merely been walking back towards his home after getting some groceries and ended up getting accused of murder of all things simply because he happened to come across the victim. He knew that the odds of anyone believing him were low due to his family’s reputation but it still horrified him how fast it had happened. Which was why he merely remained quiet as the lawyer that had been sent to represent him came in, the clear fear and lack of sleep he’d gotten quite clear across his features.
