What is Crowd Funding? Crowdfunding is a way for businesses and personal causes to help raise money by asking a large group of people for donations. (Wikipedia) There are crowdfunding networks who help with this. I will be discussing a crowdfunding network called Go Fund Me, and how the Toronto Drum and Bass community came together to raise money for the FREQUENCY – BEAT DOWN CANCER FUND!…

A Smarter Way to Bike
A Smarter Way to Bike
Navigation I’m bad with navigation and often use the Google maps app to help me get around the city of Toronto, but it’s difficult to bike and see turn by turn instructions on my iPhone while riding my bike. I tried using a phone mount called Finn by a company called Bike Citizens but still found it difficult to see or hear where I needed to go. I was also worried about my phone getting damaged…

I attended the 2017 Vermont Brewers Festival in Burlington for session 2 with my boyfriend, on Friday, July 21, 2017. It was my first time attending this festival. Our session was starting at 5:30 pm, so we arrived at Burlington Waterfront Park at 5:00 pm, where we were greeted by a line up of people anxiously waiting to try some good beers! We were spoiled with the beautiful view of the mountains and Lake Champlain while embarking on our beer adventure.

The first beer I tried was Furth by Night Shift Brewing Company, from Everett, MA. It is a traditional German-style hefeweizen. The taste was very crisp and refreshing!

I proceeded to walk over to the the Microbrasserie Le Castor booth. This brewery is from Rigaud, QC. My taste buds got to embark on their new Abricot (Apricot) Beer. This beer is 70/70, barrel-aged & stainless wild ale aged on dried organic apricots. I know I was only on beer number two, but I already knew that this beer was going to be my favourite! As soon as I took my first sip, I instantly I wanted to buy bottles to take home with me! Thankfully I visit Montreal, QC very often so I will search their cool beer shops or depanneurs to buy some to take back with me to Toronto! I’ll also make note to add to my beer adventures bucketlist to visit Microbrasserie Le Castor in Rigaud, Quebec to taste more of their beers fresh from the tap!
The third beer I tried was #12 Hefeweizen by Farnham Ale & Lager, from South Burlington, VT. This beer is an unfiltered wheat beer that is naturally cloudy, with a fruity flavour and nice light banana after taste. I think I should’ve this beer second, and not have drunk it after drinking the abricot beer, cause it really didn’t favour well with my taste palettes. This is a learning experience for me on how to strategize my beer plan at these kinds of festivals. This was, after all, my second beer festival I attended! I would like to try this beer again with a cleaner tasting palette.
Things started to get hazy for me. I’m a 4′11 Munchkinz, so I cannot consume a lot of alcohol, so I don’t know what my fourth beer was, but luckily my boyfriend continued to mark off the beers that I did taste in our tasting guide booklet with my lucky Hello Kitty pen imported from Japan! So I’ll continue to share the beers I did enjoy from our booklet.
A post shared by Otter Creek Brewing (@ottercreekbeer) on May 11, 2017 at 11:17am PDT
I got to try two beers from Otter Creek from Middlebury, VT. I tasted their Mad Tea Party beer. I enjoy drinking tea, so I was curious what a beer with tea would taste like. This beer had a light and sour flavour with bitterness from tea rather than hops. It is fermented on cherries to yield a slight sweetness to balance lactic acid sourness and tannic harness from tea. You could really taste the aftertaste of tea from this beer! I would definitely buy this beer to drink at home.
The next beer I tasted from Otter Creek was their Orange Dream. I didn’t drink a whole glass, but I drank quite a bit from my boyfriends' glass. This beer is brewed with natural orange peel and vanilla. This beer is pretty much an orange creamsicle in beer form! I loved the taste so much! So when we visited the Craft Beer Cellar in Waterbury, I picked up a can to take back home with me.

To keep with the Cream ale beer theme, I decided to wait in a long line to try Strawberry Whale Cake by Burlington Beer Company, located in Burlington, VT. This beer is a cream ale beer, brewed in Strawberries! It tasted wonderful, had very beautiful colour to it, and it made me happy to drink by the lake.
A post shared by Marites (@munchkinz) on Jul 21, 2017 at 7:03pm PDT
We started out with 15 tickets! My boyfriend helped me finish my tickets, cause like I said, there’s only so much beer that a little Munchkinz can take. All in all this Beer festival experience was a great experience. I’m happy that I got to try beers from local brewers from the State of Vermont, and I’m even happy that I got a taste of Canada too!
Next beer festival adventure my boyfriend and I will conquer is Cask Days 2017 held at Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto, Canada.
Cheers! and happy beer drinking!
