You can be a well intended cis person and know trans ppl and still unintentionally be transphobic like it's not ur place to say ur not and the best any privileged person can do is be aware that they grew up learning lots of harmful from society and listen when ppl tell u ur wrong

Truth is there are a lot of flaws in the queer community (of which I am a part). There are prejudices upon prejudices perpetuated within the community, gay men saying other gay men are too fem or masculine, lesbians saying butch girls don't count. SO much hate toward bisexuals. And of course, the marginalization of trans people and the violence against them. My initial post came from a place of massive frustration, because another facet within our community is the odd need some people feel to push their identities onto others, fictional or otherwise. Gay men trying to convince straight men that they're gay, lesbians doing the same to women. Queers insisting fictional characters/real people are also queer because they're affectionate with people of the same gender. Characters/people making one offhand comment and people somehow seeing that as hard evidence of a hidden queer.

Again, I totally understand the need for representation, but sometimes it is unfounded (yes, I saw that comic with Wakko saying he's other gender-wise).

I've been frustratingly watching this happen for years, and Wakko happened to show up right at my boiling point. I assure you, I recognize my privilege and simplicity of life I am allowed, and I am not transphobic. I have helped many closeted trans homies of mine to work their way out of the closet. Just frustrated with certain facets of the community.

What occurred in the UK shows no resemblance to a fairytale ending, leaving domestic violence survivors waiting for a truer win in court. What could’ve been a watershed case for male victims of domestic violence, left many in awe. How are we to protect and support these victims, when even a figure like Depp, aided with worlds of money and evidence, cannot achieve justice?
