Welcome to my Etsy Office…

Today I want to share something with you. Something that I hope will make you feel better about your home office, business area or storage space. I am sharing pictures of my Etsy workshop and office!

And yes, it is in a STATE OF TOTAL DISASTER!

What happened?!

I TRY to be organized. I really do. You can see my effort in the bins neatly stacked on the white shelves again the far wall. I also have towers of drawers full of organized greeting cards and other ephemera. I have a closet stacked with boxed, listed inventory as well.

But all of the organization in the world doesn’t help when you move homes and never get the office fully unpacked. Add a bin or two of things that don’t belong, because hey… they have to go somewhere! Add new items I haul home from Goodwill or other places. Add random packing materials because my shop is still open and I am still processing sales.

However, that only explains how the stuff got in that room, and how I never got it unpacked. How did it get so disheveled and strewn about? Just call me a bull in a china shop or whatever the modern day equivalent is. That’s the reality of it.

I locked my keys in my car at work last week, and a friend took me home to find my spare. Guess where it was supposed to be? In my office! Yup.

In a bit of a panic, I started flinging things out of boxes. Pushing things over here and there. I climbed around and over heaps of books and vintage baubles. I upended bags of cords and boxes of scraps of who knows what. Oh, and I never found the dang key!

So, I came in like a tornado and destroyed the already messy place. But wait.. let’s add a couple of Etsy sales to the mix! I sold a couple of items that are were boxed up, in the closet, ON THE BOTTOM OF THE STACK. So… I caused an avalanche that week as well. I’m a regular natural disaster!

Anyway, the point is… my space for my Etsy shop and my creativity got out of control. It’s time for me to get it back under control, and I started last night. The last picture is of the progress I have made so far.

My favorite Etsy team (EPSteam) is having a listing blitz starting tomorrow, and I want to participate. In order to do that though, I have to be able to function in my space. So.. wish me luck. I will need it!

I’ll be sure to come back and share an update when things are finally in order and where they should be. Hopefully things will look MUCH different!

I also hope this helps you feel better about your messy space! Hey.. maybe snap a picture and share it here… we can encourage each other to reclaim our space and be more productive with it.
