A huge thanks to everyone who’s contributed to #CarmillaMovie thus far! We are blown away by your generosity and support here at Carmilla HQ.

Good Things that Happened in 2016

·         We’re closer to having successful vaccines for lung and brain cancer.

·         New chemotherapy breakthroughs have increased the 5-year survival for pancreatic cancer from 16% to 27% (and is getting better)

·         Scientists figured out how to link robotic limbs with the part of the brain that deals with intent to move so people don’t have to think about how they will move the limb, it can just happen.

·         Child mortality is down everywhere and it keeps going down.

·         Thanks to the ice bucket challenge the gene responsible for ALS has been found, meaning we are closer to an effective treatment. Let me rephrase that: we are close to getting a treatment for a very bad disease because a lot of people (including really hot celebrities) got wet.

·         A solar powered plan circumnavigated the world.

·         Michael Jordan donates 2mil to try and help bridge connection between police and the community.

·         Tiger numbers are growing.

·         And manatees.

·         And pandas.

·         Pakistan has made strides toward outlawing honor killings.

·         70,000 Muslim clerics declared a fatwa against ISIS.

·         Pokemon Go players went insane with placing lure modules near hospitals for sick kids.

·         Precision treatments for cancer are hitting clinical trials and WORKING (as someone who’s had relatives with cancer this is the best news)

·         We may have cured MS

·         Rise Women’s Legal Centre opened

·         Jungle Book. The amazing remake none of us saw coming

·         Finding Dory. I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve heard good things

·         Kubo and the Two Strings. Haven’t seen that yet as well but its Laika so I know it’s a masterpiece

·         Deadpool. The beautiful and super accurate R-rated marvel film

·         Captain America: Civil War. Seriously is the best marvel movie yet in my opinion I need more.

·         Zootopia. Oh don’t mind me I’m just a movie that tackled the issue of racism and not only game changed animated films but also made a billion dollars

·         The Hamilton Mixtape is coming out. Which is a bunch of artists singing songs from the musical (Sia, Usher, Regina Spketor, etc.) I’m excited.

·         A personal victory for myself, I joined Tumblr and met angels in blog form so…that’s uplifting.

·         And I met my favorite voice actor at a con which was a bucket list accomplishment.

Good Things that have yet to happen this year

sometimes i think about Stand and how as HG was about to be devoured by an explosion, the camera panned to Myka and made sure that we see every crease on her face that added up to a woman who was forced to stand and watch as her love was about to die and GOD THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THAT THAT WAS UNINTENTIONAL and it’s not just Jaime and Jo, it’s the goddamn cameraman and whoever the fuck edited the episode, who made sure Myka was the focus by making Artie and Pete’s protests merely background noises, and then shifting back to HG who had no choice but to ask Myka to accept her fate, and Myka silently agreeing to that request just to give HG a peaceful end despite the violence that’s about to tear HG apart while probably dying inside because that’s all she could do

Any plans for a UK Carmilla panel at a MCM Expo Comic Con? We have quite a few through out the year??

Hey! So sorry if you've answered this before, I tried scrolling through the FAQ, but couldn't find it, so here goes: It's pretty easy to imagine Laura as canonically Hufflepuff, and LaF as perhaps Gryffindor, but what is Carmilla? Is she a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin? Or even a Gryffindor?

Hey so, I’ve actually thought a lot about this, and feel free to chime in. This is the kind of discourse I enjoy.

The way I’ve always seen it - and this is just me, everyone can take these things differently, as 

1. Laura is a Hufflepuff with a secondary house of Gryffindor. Because yes, she has a LOT of Gryffindor tendencies, but her first priority is to her friends and she’s loyal to a fault, even when she perhaps shouldn’t be.

2. LaF is a Ravenclaw with a sub house of Hufflepuff. LaF’s smart and can be a little cold at times in the pursuit of science, but they have a warm heart and love their friend when they remember to. 

3. Carmilla, I think, is a Ravenclaw with a side of either Hufflepuff or Slytherin. I’m inclined to say more Slytherin because her loyalties tend to be to a very singular. She’s in it for Laura and that’s about it. I don’t like Slytherin as a dominant house for Carmilla, however, because I don’t think she really fits the ambitious mold as much as Slytherin touted it.

4. Perry is a Hufflepuff with a dash of Slytherin, as herself. The Dean is all Slytherin. Perry has her moments of focusing on the bigger picture, which is a pretty Slytherin trait. But she’s very dedicated to her friends and loyal almost to a fault, even when LaF kinda sucks and somehow missed the whole Possessed thing. 

5. Danny is a Gryffindor sub Hufflepuff for reasons that should be blatantly obvious. Because she’s Danny and a big damn hero and all.
