Definitely a mistake complaining about this on tumblr of all places, but does anyone else get annoyed with every single minute little social media interaction having to be a morality contest?
Someone will comment “he’s funny” on a 2 second celebrity meme and someone else will inevitably reply “he’s a raging zionist and he called a woman a bitch in 2008, he should be publicly hanged actually”.
Like… don’t yall get tired of living like this? I’m exhausted just looking at you.
#adding a disclaimer so I don’t get jumped that I’m not saying we should never hold famous ppl accountable#but like… does it have to be on every interaction on every post in every conversation even when it’s harmless and irrelevant#yes yes we get it Twitter user Abby247 you’re more woke than the rest of us#and we’re shirking our moral responsibility or whatever by not only ever talking about emotionally exhausting political stuff constantly#but can we not just have a conversation oh my GOD#I just think it’s ok to enjoy aspects of a person even if other aspects of them are massively problematic#especially in a time where propaganda and societal pressure make it easy for people to see an issue from an angle that isn’t accurate#and unconsciously end up on the wrong side of it with an opinion that isn’t necessarily reflective of their core#apparently it’s a radical statement to say humans are complicated beings that can never be examined in a black and white way#and that it’s a good thing to be able to differentiate the various parts of them and react accordingly#also there’s like a 90% chance if someone’s leaving a comment on some random celeb post#they likely don’t gaf about the celeb beyond what they’re seeing in front of the#they’re just having a nice shallow scrolling experience#and that’s not a bad thing either#and for you to take it upon yourself to give them a lecture about what they should and shouldn’t feel is uhhh..#self righteous af#idk#not fandom

I actually don’t mind sylki stuff, but if you draw sylvie with black nails and not loki, that’s a red flag.
#like…. it becomes VERY clear that you stan her and he’s just an accessory#and that’s valid!#but for me personally it’s also unbearably annoying#also when you make her explicitly queer-looking or badass looking or goth looking#and then make loki look like a basic dude or a pathetic wimp or a normie in a sweater vest#like… either let both of them shine and be true to the Loki template or gtfo of my face#anti sylki#it’s actually not but I don’t wanna get jumped 😭#mcu Loki#Loki series

Extremely unpopular opinion, but I think “the sun will shine on us again” was a really lame final-ish quote 😭. It was just so.. cheesy and overly flowery lol. I’m not sure what I wish he’d said instead, but I’ve always hated that line.
#even the way Tom delivered it was#*lord forgive me for saying this*#over-acted and melodramatic in a cringey way#idk maybe it’s just a peeve of mine#but I had to get it off my chest#bc fans use that in literally every single thing and it’s like#uuuggh stop#‘you will never be a god’ was so much cooler#mcu Loki#infinity war

Yeeees!! And his dynamic with Loki was so cute! Especially when they finally succeed at the loom thing 😭 he fits so perfectly into the TVA fam, idk why no one ever includes him in fanworks.
Spoiler warning for Loki season 2‼️
☆| soo...I watched Loki for Loki ofc, came out loving this mf, the one sided romance between him and Miss Minutes was so unnecessary I'm afraid, he seemed so uncomfortable and honestly me too Victor💔. Anyways, Victor Timely deserves more love

do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets

her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.

Although commentators used their views of slavery and slaves to describe the caning, a gendered reading of the event was also evident. Historians like John Hope Franklin have long reminded us that extralegal violence and militant notions of manliness were some of the defining characteristics of southern slave society. Premodern notions of male honor encompassed a common resort to physical force. Southern defenders of Brooks praised his "manly spirit" and "manliness." On the other hand, they castigated Sumner for his "unmanly submission," his failure to defend his "virility" and for acting like a woman. The Charleston Mercury argued that Sumner's name would become a "perfect synonym for cowardice and baseness." According to the Richmond Enquirer, "wretches" like Sumner, "runaway negroes and masculine women" comprised the abolitionist movement. Southern proslavery writers had long lampooned abolitionists as hoydenish, "unsexed" women, uppity "negroes" and effeminate, intellectual white men given to "sickly sentimentality"- all traitors to their supposedly natural racial and gender traits. Sumner's alleged failure to defend himself conformed to this caricature and made his behavior also seem slavish.
-- Manisha Sinha, The Caning of Charles Sumner: Slavery Race, And Ideology in the Age of The Civil War
#excellent point about how it’s never just one#it’s always all the various bigotries working together to form the system#racism and misogyny and homophobia and ableism all go hand in hand always

Hot take but after loki got a boner from Jane slapping him in TDW, he definitely would’ve had a full on orgasm if he saw her in L&T. It’s a crime that we didn’t get to experience that.

Oooh this is such a good point 😭.
The amount of just.. talking past each other and completely misinterpreting each other’s feelings that these two do is downright illegal.
Because Loki’s grievances with his family are legitimate and well founded, but the level to which he’s so consumed by his pain that he never bothers to look at his own actions from Thor’s perspective is just, wow.
Thor has to find out that his brother conspired to ruin the most important day of his life.. why? Well he’s not really given a reason. Just cause he could. And then his brother tells him that their dad died because of him. Again, just cause he could. And then he outright tries to kill him. And then tells him they’re not brothers and they never were and that he’s gonna steal Thor’s throne. And to top it all off, Thor watches Loki kill himself. Presumably because he was so unhappy with his life as Thor’s brother. Then he comes back on a full blown murder spree, all because he wants vengeance on Thor. Because he hates him that much. And then when TDW and Ragnarok roll around, he’s faking his death and showing no emotional reaction whatsoever when Thor says he mourned him. So at this point, it’s safe for Thor to assume that Loki’s hatred has cooled into apathy. Like he doesn’t care about Thor at all, not even enough to pretend to be sorry.
And through all of this, he never gets a good explanation. Sure, Odin told him loki had a breakdown when he found out he’s adopted, but what’s that got to do with Thor? Why is all of Loki’s anger focused on him specifically?
And the thing is, like. Neither Odin nor Frigga deserve the benefit of the doubt from either son. They were in control, they created this toxic situation. So I feel no sympathy for them when Loki directs his rage their way (when he put Odin in the care home or when he told Frigga she wasn’t his mom). But for all Thor’s flaws, he was ultimately a product of his upbringing. He was violent because he learned from his dad’s stories that violence was noble. He was arrogant because all of the adults around him taught him that his arrogance was justified. He was oblivious to his shortcomings because Odin and Frigga overlooked all of them- to the point where they were gonna coronate him knowing full well he wasn’t ready.
So when it comes to Loki’s anger toward Thor, it really amounts to him being angry at the way their parents raised Thor to be and the way they treat him vs Loki. Thor catches the most hell out of anyone throughout his brother’s downward spiral, and it’s so painful because he’s the least at fault.
Do you ever think about how scared Thor was to lose Loki… He experimented Loki hating him and denouncing him as his brother, so soon after Loki had said 'never doubt that I love you', he saw Loki ignore his pleas and let go because Odin said no and Thor's brain chemistry was changed forever.
1 ) His response was 'We all did' when Loki asked him 'Did you miss me?'. The fact he didn't consider that Loki was particularly asking about him, he was desperate to make Loki believe that others care about him, that all missed him. It will convince Loki.
I wonder if he spent an year trying to fight his own thoughts that Loki didn't actually hate him or Loki didn't care about him so he let go
2) He says 'I will tell father...' right after 'stay with me, okay' trying not to cry like a baby, thinking Loki will stay if he knows that Odin is proud of him.
All I want to say is Thor is so soft and pure hearted, it pains me to see that he thinks that he doesn't deserve love and he is bound to believe so because everyone he loved left him, that nobody loved Thor, they loved the hero, the prince, the protector.
Sorry I'm crying
oh my god anon…that’s the thing i’m sensitive about :(
i think (?) i’ve talked about this on here or at the very least on twitter but truly truly i think that every action thor takes post-thor (2011) can be traced back to what happens to him in that movie. it really is the formative experience of his life in a very bad way.
thor’s always been unsure of himself, i think. we know that both loki and frigga can see through his facade before the coronation, so we know his whole self-assured cockiness is on some levels an act. and he goes to loki for so much reassurance and guidance and trusts him so much. i can’t imagine what it must have felt like at the most tumultuous time (so far) in thor’s life to hear loki say he doesn’t love him, that they aren’t brothers. and for loki to kill him!!! i mean, fuck, guys. imagine what that would make thor think. “loki thinks that i’m a bad enough person that i should die”. and doesn’t even disagree with him. thor just accepts that he’s beyond saving and puts himself up on the chopping block, essentially bc loki asked him to.
and also those are really good examples of thor putting everyone else’s feelings before his own that i hadn’t picked up on. thank you for sharing cause i think you’re absolutely right. with the “we all did” line, i do think he was trying so hard to convince loki that he was loved by everyone, not just himself. i think, honestly, that thor was trying to like…delegate (for lack of a better word) his love for loki, in a way? kind of diluting his own emotions so he doesn’t appear as vulnerable. it’s something he does in parts of the dark world, too, especially in the scene where he’s trying to convince loki to join their quest to the dark world. “that hope no longer exists to protect you.” we know that he’s bluffing, and i think he’s bluffing bc he doesn’t want to be the only one who cares, since he thinks loki hates him. and also, yes i absolutely do think that thor fully believed that loki hated him. i don’t think thor knew that loki still cared about him at all until the end of ragnarok…
AND this is making me insane bc you’re RIGHT…if thor doesn’t think loki loves him, ofc he’d say “i’ll tell father…” bc he doesn’t think that loki would’ve sacrificed himself for just him 😭😭 WHAT THE HELL
but yeah :( you’re right. thank you for the pain. respectfully fuck loki for making him feel that way
#there’s also just. SO much to unpack about how Thor completely misunderstands where Loki’s coming from as well#but that’s for another day lol#mcu Loki#mcu Thor#Thor meta#Loki meta#Odinson family
