Gilded Queen Accent
500g/525kt Available on the auction house now 6 currently in stock as of this post Reprints available on a prepaid to fund the copy pack basis, check out my accent shop for more <3 This accent was made primarily as a gift to my 2nd life partner, inspired by the song Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan (and the pink horse with yellow highlights and single heart that she rode on stage). The song keeps getting stuck in their head (and now keeps getting stuck in mine as a result of listening to it on loop and singing it every time I see this accent and the associated pink pony (cirrus) pair.

Naming Journal Entry 256
That's just a random number, but it might be accurate. Today's naming journey has taken me through classical music and dance of the 18th century into French history in particular, refreshing some of what I know about 18th century France from King Louis XIV through to Louis the XVI and the French Revolution. Granted it's almost all gleaned from wikipedia (at least it's not chat gpt?), but yeah...anyone else end up actually studying a wide variety of random things in pursuit of... *checks notes* Naming a pixelated dragon? (Granted some of that is following an ADHD train of thought on the topic)
That gif is a pun because it's a music-related name <3 And this ended with an edit after looking up how to refer to centuries because I vaguely remembered they don't actually match the written year =_= *Edited again because my brain got what I read backwards. All of which could've been easily avoided by saying the 1700s to begin with. /done rambling

It's finally approved and available! You can pick it up off the AH now or at my accent shop.
New Accent: Ruby Flourish
That's right, I've finally made a new accent. This time it's a custom for a gen1 stock the pond Everlux I wanted to make prettier and I figured other people might like it enough to add it to my roster. All my accents are 500g each and never retire (though they do go on prepay-to-reprint status). I'm awaiting approval now for the first 10 copies, 9 of which will be available. My accent shop on Flight Rising Ruby Flourish Try it on with ReSkin
I also still have 2 copies left in stock of Padparadscha's Finery:
None of the others are in stock. If you are interested, my queues usually take months if not a year to fill for more reprints for all my older accents (ie all of them except for the new Ruby Flourish).

That's why I've taken to just spam clicking one side until I go through all the cards. I figured out that if I take the time to actually look, even though it's just like a second or two, I really only get, on average, 2 or 3 more cards correct.
I don't save much time, but I do save a lot of frustration and eye rolling while still getting a little bit of quick treasure.
I misclicked but like

Gentle reminder that often creativity decides to hibernate for a bit.
It’s okay. You’re not broken, you’re resting, and much like spring, creativity comes back.

You don’t actually buy dragons. You just pay for them to move to your lair. Packing, shipping, express fees, tickets and food. Sornieth is big so travel is expensive if you hop from arcane to nature and back

Personal post
I ask everyone for their patience with me for the forseeable future. I'm going through a lot of RL stuff that includes housing instability after years of chronic stress. I've made job, housing, and seeking legal/financial help a full time job.

It's happened! Right before my birthday too <3 My first celebrity dragon at over 1k stars <3 <3 <3
I can't help it, I'm so excited <3 <3 <3 I actually love that after 1k you only show each 100 stars after too. It feels like a throwback to Chrono Trigger when you beat the game and went back in as Game+ lol. A + (or .1 in this case) for every 100 after Eydis beat the star milestone game lol. She was my very first auction purchase to back in 2017 and I feel like I picked her up for only 7g (though she had underbelly instead of glimmer at the time). Got some new foddart going for her too. Might poke around to get her a few more celebratory commissions after that :D PS Still running that raffle that has over 14kg worth in prizes now just for giving out stars to my dragons <3 It's running until the very last minute of January 31st :D

Star Lighting Raffle
Now over 13kg in prizes! Running a free raffle in Flight Rising with multiple ways to earn tickets. The primary goal is to just get attention and happy little stars lit for as many of my 462 (and growing) permadragons as people have time to witness with their eyeballs. The easiest way to get tickets is simply to look at one of my dragons and light its star as a little kudos. 1 ticket per dragon starred (and yes, you may count previously lit stars). It also doubles as a birthday raffle. I get a little attention for all the hard work I put into my dragons, and all participants get a shot at over 13kg+ in prizes. 35 prizes currently with unlockable tiers for more based on participation. You can read more and participate at Saronai's Star Lighting Raffle. And finally, this post has a key phrase with which to claim 10 *bonus raffle tickets for purely looking at my Flight Rising tumblr. Just PM me in Flight Rising with the key phrase "The muse is flying" to claim 10 bonus tickets. Tumblr reblogs are worth 25 *bonus tickets but you have to PM me in game with a link to your reblog. Only one reblog claim per player.
*Note: These are bonus tickets that only activate for raffle participants who've starred at least 25 of my dragons and claimed them in the raffle thread or via PM. Each dragon starred yields a ticket as well! Read the raffle thread for more details <3 Additionally, several of my dragons award badges (mostly dragon-matching stars, but a few have butterfly badges too) that you can use as a dragon or clan bio asset if you lit their stars (and keep the badge linked to that dragon) <3 You can get the codes for those at my thread Ylli's Star Collection.

Taibhse Gijinka
So because Taibhse (pronounced Tao-shuh - it's Irish whaddya want? lol) will be relevant to my weekly tabletop RP soon, I went and made them up in a bunch of dollmakers and edited the results of my favourite to better suit them. I prefer commissioning artists directly (especially since Taibhse should look a little more masculine than they do), but I wanted to have some art ready for when they join Diem's adventuring party while Diem is otherwise...indisposed. Anywho, here it is:
An edited image made from "Mega Fantasy Avatar Dollmaker" (basically I made the face more narrow, lips slightly wider, put in a peek of the triskele shaved into the side of their head, and broadened their shoulders. Also erased some breast shading one of my partners insists was never there lol. Edit doll version of this dragon:

Remember, until January 31st 2024, each dragon you star in my collection gets you a ticket to my star-lighting birthday raffle with over 8kg worth in prizes. Tickets must be claimed in a PM or the raffle thread <3

How to Name Your Dragon
AKA: How I spent the last hour and a half of my life on something that should be simple and straight-forward. Specifically, this dragon (who is not finished yet):
My new(ish), Solstice-hatched gen 1 with all gem genes and eyes (cries in that's all my current funds).
1. Stare at your dragon in their final state. Try to figure out the vibes they give you. Tip: Use their hatchdate for inspiration. 2. Websearch for names that mean things the dragon makes you think of: names that mean something relevant to the dragon's appearance, theme, or hatchdate. Check out a few of the resulting (usually baby naming) sites that pop up. 3. Write down possibilities as you come across them. I do this in the dragon's bio. 4. Play with some of the names and sounds to try a few of your own creation too. Or combinations of meaningful names. 5. Stare at the dragon's picture some more while trying each name out loud. Pit them against each other to the death. Last name standing wins. 5a. This sometimes involves cross-referencing the meaning of each name because some of these sites are literally just making it up rather than giving you the actual meaning from the actual origin. 6. Do a little spot research on the name source (ie language, fictional work, mythology, and or country of origin. 6a. This sometimes provides inspiration to plop down for creating some lore later. Either way it just makes sense to at least learn a little about the source before you use it. 7. Remember that there was a thematically appropriate pendant or something Galadriel gave Frodo on the whole "Light in the darkness" theme your Solstice dragon has going on.
8. Research Galadriel looking for the name of the thing. 9. Find pretty names and words in that research you might use, research those to see if they're appropriate. 10. Increase your in-depth knowledge of Galadriel and Tolkien's possible folk and myth inspirations on elves as angels. 11. Find what you're looking for and realize that name's not right. 12. End up researching Luthien/Tinuviel (forgot how I got here lol) to learn a little more about her than just the basics. 13. Realize while you like the meaning of "nightingale" for your dragon, Tinuviel doesn't seem to really suit them. 14. Check Silmarils just in case they might yield a gem or two and because you're only aware of the basics. 15. Go back to nightingale. Look up more names that mean nightingale. 16. Cross reference those in case the source is making things up. 17. Highlight the Latin "Luscinia" from nightingale wikipedia. It's a good one. 18. Research the symbolism of nightingale for both lore inspiration and verification it suits the dragon meaning-wise. 19. Read a pretty line by a poet named Percy Shelley. 20. Look him up before officially quoting it in the bio to make sure he's not a horrible creep. 21. Discover he was into political justice and free love way before the US went wild for it in the 60s and 70s and was an atheist in a time that got him shunned for it. 22. Read about his love affair and eventual marriage to Mary Godwin - wait...wouldn't that make her Mary Shelley. 23. Realize this poet is the same poet you knew Mary Shelley had married. 24. Read more about Mary Shelley while you're at it because while you know some of it, it's from an episode of Dr. Who primarily and you're curious about some of the things brought up in Percy Shelley's wikipedia. 25. Write a post about how it took you WAY too much of your life to pick a name. In my defense, I learned a whole lot tonight about a lot of random things. Even more if you count the hour and a half before that where I spent naming a different dragon and learning a bunch of stuff about Azerbaijani, Iran, Persia. + their modern and historical views of queer people. and the Ghost Busters universe/timeline.
Final name for the pictured dragon: Luscinia (Latin name for nightingale - which etymologically could mean "Little seen (as in the twilight) singer" or even "famous singer." Might also be "Little understood singer" referring to the mystery of their nightsong. Oh! 26. Remember that somewhere in there included research into the Greek language for many other names and in what order they tend to use adjectives+nouns. Also Circe, Callisto, and Kalliope research. My brain is full of learning. Azerbaijani/Ghost Busters research-prompting dragon was named Zulejxa. A day later: 27. Remember you also did a bunch of reading up on Amaryllis flowers both in general and according to flower language.
#Flight Rising#dragon game#Naming characters#There is so much knowledge stuffed in my head right now#3 hours of randomized but relevant learning to name two dragons#I'd call it a waste of time but I did learn things#and that's not a waste of time#so does it really matter that the driving force behind the learning was naming a bunch of pretty pixels?
