Pickled Purple/Sandy Laccarias/Making usable of non-choice mushrooms.
These mushrooms, growing up from the sand, are packed with sand. They are brittle, making removale of sand even that much more difficult. brushing would break them, blowing and wiping not fully successful.
The solution, soaking in water, and pickling.
This first round was dome from the "ultimate mushroom book" and involved cooking in a vinegar solution and covering with oil. This was after an initial soaking in water and repetead. This step also helped remove some worms, along with excess sand. The cooking in vinegar also helped remove more sand.
The product, a nice pickled mushroom, free of sand.. and hopefuly worms.
Next, fermented.. stay tuned
