I think there might be a new, added element to this. It's not necessarily a modesty thing (although sometimes it is!). But with the way social media has progressed and especially now with the insane things that ai can do, people may be genuinely worried that someone out in public will record them or photo them and it will end up on the internet if one form or another. And it doesn't matter if you take legal action - it's already out there. When you go in public, there is a reasonable expectation you'll be recorded, but it's so far beyond what those regulations were intended for. Some people dont want any part of that for personal or career reasons. That's where the "someone will find them erotic" idea comes from. And its easy to take care of rather than your face or whatever.

So while it may sound silly, it is rooted in an unfortunate reality.

tbh my hot take is that a lot of people are obnoxiously weird about feet and its usually not the people that have foot fetishes

and now supposedly YouTube and Spotify will be asking you to upload your government issued ID to "prove you're over 18". Dear internet, my YouTube account is over 18 years old. Surely that counts?

i really like this thing where websites will have separate "log in" & "sign up" buttons and if you click "log in" it takes you to a sign-up screen anyway so you have to click "i already have an account" and then it will ask if you want to sign in with your facebook account or with instagram or linkedin or deviantart or whatever, and if you choose "username & password" it asks if you want to put in your username or use your thumbprint, and once you put your username & password it emails you a confirmation code, and once you put in the code it says "do you want to give us your phone number for future sign-ins? do you want to sign up for facial recognition? do you want to give us your bones? give us your fucking bones?
